Firstly, I got to give it to the author and the translators for such a badass title. 'The Fallen Saint Dances in the Vortex of War' stands out very nicely compared to the titles we usually get nowadays. They also did the psychology of the main character really well.
The plot is just your typical revenge plot of a hero getting betrayed by their own kingdom, but this time she was revived by the demon lord. The main character turns from a caring saint to a calm, careful, cold-blooded, merciless, and revengeful witch. These developments feel very natural and well-planned. Though, I feel like her not
...
remembering about her teammates at all (the story only mentioned that she even had teammates until a few chapters after) for maybe around a week is weird. Her entire world is built on three things, first, her identity, which is the saint that helps the kingdom in war, second, the orphanage, and third, her comrades in the war. 2 of these 3 things were ripped away when she was betrayed, so it's really weird that she just completely forgets about the people who stayed with her for, maybe around a decade. If I were her, I'd desperately try to check on them the first day after waking up, making sure that they're still fine.
Next, the kingdom also acts really weirdly... Why turn on her in the first place? She was a completely loyal dog that was extremely powerful. My own most convincing explanation is jealousy. But an entire kingdom being jealous over their own hero who's done so much good for the kingdom is bullshit. This is like if Indians hated Gandhi. She's also done so much for the army, leading the lines. Is the army incompetent? Why didn't they do anything for their own leader, who healed their wounds, fought along with them in battle, lived with them for years,... at least her squad should've acted.
The story's side characters aren't built really well. I have no idea what kind of person the demon lord is, other than the fact that he likes the MC and will do anything to make her satisfied. Remove him from half of the panels that he appeared in and the story doesn't lose any significant value. The world building is average and typical, and the execution of the plot also isn't special in any way. The arcs were pretty predictable. There are also some obvious plot holes, Ex: The main character didn't have to destroy Liliana's emotions by putting her through absolute hell on earth to 'save' her, and then turn her into a servant. She could've just asked the demon lord to revive her, as the demon lord usually does whatever she wants anyways. And, I also don't think turning your old friend into your maid servant is... realistic for this character, especially because Liliana was supposed to be the MC's closest comrade in battle.
Anyways, there are very little reasons for anyone to read this for now. I'd recommend it for people who just want to kill time, because, seeing the main character getting revenge on the airheaded people of the kingdom that betrayed her is very fun.
