It's... back, and it's more beautiful than ever...
I had very fond memories of this story 3-4 years ago when I was a "normie" who barely dabbled in manga. However, I somehow came across this story's webcomic, and despite my taste back then being absolute doo doo water for only enjoying stories with an overpowered protagonist, this was still genuine peak. It was also my first experience with the "healing" or "fixing her" genre, so I can't be happier but more terrified that this finally got a manga.
"What if this isn't as good as the webcomic..."
"What if my taste has changed, and I don't
...
enjoy this..."
Well, to my utmost joy, I can confidently say that this is still peak, and it's even better than the original.
There are so many reasons for this that this review is going to be quite long -- there are just too many good things to say about this manga.
First and foremost, this manga was definitely "toned down" from the original, so it's not as "edgy," which I still remember people complaining about back in the day, smh. However, is that to say that this manga isn't emotional, deep, or dark? ABSOLUTELY NOT. Man, I have never felt such rage and anger towards the mysterious person who tortured the FMC. This was also mainly due to the art, as the art style is simply beautiful and rustic.
With that, this manga knows how to shift the mood so incredibly well that I'm still flabbergasted. I remember myself borderline about to punch a hole in the wall in anger, to me smiling and tearing up within the next three panels. I don't know how the author has done it, but this story is so emotional and well-written that I don't know what to feel. Is it wholesome? Yes. Is it anger-inducing? Yes. Do I want to personally "talk" to the person who made the FMC suffer? BRING HIM HERE MOTHERFU-
Ahem. Anyways, mood is so dynamic, and a large part of that is due to the pacing of the plot. At certain times in the webcomic, despite it being 3 years since I last read it, I remember becoming rather bored or detached from the story, as it moved incredibly slowly. There just wasn't enough reward or fluff for all the suffering it causes. And... that's why that was a webcomic, and this is the actual manga. Because, oh boy, this manga is incredibly well-paced; it's still slow enough to get detail, depth, and a good character backstory, while rewarding the readers with some beautiful, tear-jerking, wholesome moments.
I'll briefly talk about the characters since the review is already getting way too long, but the MC is something special. He is probably the best sympathetic protagonist to exist, and I'll die on that hill. He also doesn't have a hollow "nice-guy" persona since he also has his backstory. As for the side characters, they add so many tear-jerking moments with the FMC. Finally, the FMC, the main attraction of the story, is amazing. She doesn't open up too quickly; however, she also slowly becomes more attached to the MC, where you can't help but smile because of how cute and wholesome she is- OMG I LOVE HER AHHHH.
Seriously, what are you doing still reading this review and not picking up this manga? Also, WHERE IS THE ANIME ADAPTATION THIS IS GENUINE PEAK.
