The Shogakukan Manga Award (小学館漫画賞, Shōgakukan Mangashō) is one of Japan's major manga awards, sponsored by Shogakukan Publishing. It has been awarded annually for serialized manga since 1955 and features candidates from a number of publishers. Each winning work will be honored with a bronze statuette and a prize of 1 million yen (about US$9,000). Special awards are also occasionally given out for outstanding work, lifetime achievement, and so forth.

Not every romance manga is a cute and fluffy high school romance. This stack is a collection of romance stories with a darker setting/feel.

So we all know the mystery genre tag is freaking bloated and stuff with stuff that isnt really mystery
so i thought ill make a list that filters most of the stuff out like i did for horror
Only 1 Series per franchise

Not everyone likes these adaptations but the intention is either to please those of us who like to see these things or at least take these manga into account to expand the list.

Traumatized/depressed mcs that try to give love but can't help but hurt each other when put together. Their story spans entire lifetimes in a tangled mess of sadness, hatred and longing for the other while trying to heal or destroy themselves.

Most of the readers end up hating them so much... But you get them, oh boy if you do.

Shojo & Josei are demographics, not genres, so here we have some no romance or at least not romance centered series

so deep and psychological. most often a red flag. For those who want to read something deeper and more thought provoking than what the mainstream provides.

This list will provide you with stuff you definitely havent seen on other elitist or pretentious weeb lists and will give you something to flex over your other elitist friends calling them casuals because they never heard of this manga.
