No magic, no impossible feats, no fantasy or isekai, only gritty or light-hearted realism.
There might be a little bit of plot armor but nothing that is drastically outside the boundaries from what normally happens in life.

If they've got a setting in the past, reality will obviously differ from nowadays', often in the sense of lack of order, violence and/or other moral standards.

The two most frequent subgroups here are:
1) People performing their jobs or passions, be it as doctor, firefighter, someone of the rescue force, a musician, sports player or something else.
2) People who suffer under violence and unlucky circumstances, trying to hold on to life when it tries so hard to tear them down.

(I'm not that far into BG and BP yet so if those change later on, I'd remove them)


!! About 4-punkan no Marigold: This manga has a MC that can see the last moments of a person's life. He cannot change anything about it though, no matter how much he tries. This means it is as if everything goes on normally with the exception that the MC knows what will happen. Added this because the story feels tangibly real, with lots of sorrow, powerlessness and loss.
So yes strictly it shouldn't be in here but this is an exception that is justifiable imo.

It can be a manga about cats or just feature one cat. Also: not exactly a house cat but any kind of feline.

Manhwa do not deserve to all be generalized... Here some examples of good, interesting and creative manhwa! Whale Star takes the top spot for me! Followed by Navillera: Like a Butterfly and Annarasumanara.

Some series that made me think about life and how shitty it gets sometimes.. everyone is struggling and hardships are unavoidable but that's just life isn't it? There's happiness too afterall to make it all worth it.

While the main genres of all series might differ they all are similar in depicting struggles of characters.

This stack will keep updating, probably. I have a few dozen to add but we'll see.. if you have any recommendations for this stack feel free to recommend it to me.
