The highlight of these mangas is the great personality development of the main female character, as they turn from a simple minded and pure character to a determinated, inteligent and charismatic characters. The charismatic personality is not only able to win over the mangá characters but is also able to win over the readers.

young girls, that because of marriage have to move out of their homes. While they venture outside they help a lot of people and also get help for themselves. Another common thing between these two manga is the different cultures that are presented to the protagonist.

Two torrid, period romances. In Madame Petit, the main character is newly married to an older man, but eventually winds up running all over Europe with an Indian prince. In Mademoiselle Butterfly, a young woman is in love with her neighbor whose trade is illegal (he is a tattoo artist during the Showa Era when tattooing was a crime).

Male love interests are nobility, ladies men, and have a bit of a dark side who are very loyal/dedicated to the female lead. Stories contain themes of revenge, mystery, and travel.

Set in the 1920's with gorgeous, well researched settings. Golden Days is set in Japan, and Madam Petit is set in Europe and India. Both are romances where the main characters attempt to find evidence of a murder. The romantic hero is revenge driven for much of the story. There is a kind of Agatha Christie feel, with quirky characters and bizarrely complex plots. Both are by Takao Shigeru.
