Both are detective mystery series that deal with the Japanese culture. Ayatsuri Sakon takes it from a more modern persepctive while Sakura no Ichiban actually takes place in a different era. Also, the drawing style is simular, yet different. 

Sakura is basically a high school Detective like Kudo, except that she is female, lives in a different time frame and retains her teenage size. She goes to a 'finishing school' for young ladies, but practices the Kendo from her fathers dojo. Her older brother is a police officer and she walks into things.
