Synopsis

Whispering the name Seiichirou Kitano is enough to send shivers down the spine of any student at Hekikuu High. His fearsome looks make even the toughest of men scream, and if his appearance isn't off-putting enough, he is also known to be extremely brutal in fights. In a single day, he took out the school's top thug and became the new guardian. Now, the entire school is at his mercy, and anyone who dares to challenge him better be ready to meet their maker... or so the stories go.

The truth is that all of the terrible rumors surrounding Seiichirou are misunderstandings, many assuming the worst about him because of his demon-like features. In reality, he is a kindhearted boy who goes out of his way to help others, but his attempts to do good deeds always get hilariously skewed and miscommunicated—which was the case when he became the new guardian.

Time and time again, Seiichirou tries and fails to prove that he is not the demon that rumors make him out to be. He hopes to one day be able to have friends who look beyond his scary disposition and see him for what he truly is—an angel.

I don't understand how this manga hasn't been both popularized and properly adapted.

Angel Densetsu is a beautiful story about the kindest boy in his town and how through both exerting kindness in spite of scrutiny and a series of peculiar events he slowly but surely gathers a tight-bonded group of friends who see him for the angel he is. And it shows you this masterfully.

Storywise, it's conceptually simple and actually nothing other stories haven't tried: Kitano Seiichirou is a perfectly respectful and softhearted boy -- but he looks the absolute opposite. Thus, his daily life is often unfairly impeded and his actions misunderstood.
However, there is ... more than meets the eye to this story. It is, by no means, just that. By using secondary characters and approaching their scenes through a comedic lens, Yagi takes the focus off of Kitano's inner conflicts and rather cushions and relieves the reader's stress and feelings of worry while tying every scene to each other. This, among other things, would later shine in Yagi's next work Claymore. Additionally, Yagi's sense of humor mimicks that of JoJo's in that its absurd and out of pocket, which fits such a unique manga like Angel Densetsu.

Now, the art. Yes, it's wonky at first. Extremely so. Bad, even. But honestly, the work is so bizarre and strange in its early chapters that the art arguably accompanies the experience for the most part. It is important to note that this was Yagi's first work and his art skills were clearly undeveloped, so he used this manga to further explore his style. By the end of Angel Densetsu, his art has improved so much it's not even an improvement, but rather a complete overhaul of even the basics.

And lastly, the characters. While undisputably simple, they're effective. Angel Densetsu is a short manga. Due to this (mainly), Yagi didn't have much room for introspection or for distributing each character's 'screentime' evenly. As such, he opted for a quicker option: two-point development. That is, characters start in place A and by the very end of the manga they get to point B. They suffer almost no struggle to achieve this development, but it does span the entire manga and ends up being incredibly rewarding for characters like Takehisa or Ikuno. It can feel as though the characters aren't fully fleshed out by the end, and honestly, that's also true. Sadly, Yagi had to end the manga on a somewhat abrupt note that, while being a good ending, can feel sudden.

Overall, Angel Densetsu is a very short but powerful story about maintaining kindness, generosity and hope through adversity with lovable characters and fun unpredictable humor that enjoys good pacing and treats the reader as one of Kitano's friends.

I love how auther gave them life, every part of the town, every student, random person, you can feel the expressions. the feel, love, hate, that little park, people fears, people love, they all feels alive, i love how everyone so are unique and different then anyone but still same people, they hate love each other same time, like real life story.
This is not a ordinary manga, i've read so many to the point, i can say this is something else, walking on that street, even if the manga ended a person is there walking on that street, new people coming and going, story continue.. ...

Mixed Feelings

The manga is very good at the start but after chapter 34-35 it gets worse. And it is all downhill till the end. What was interesting in those first chapters was the main protagonist. He was an angel and the fate and us knew it and thus, even if he was considered a devil by other people and treated badly, the fate would always turn to favour him at last.
