No magic, no impossible feats, no fantasy or isekai, only gritty or light-hearted realism.
There might be a little bit of plot armor but nothing that is drastically outside the boundaries from what normally happens in life.

If they've got a setting in the past, reality will obviously differ from nowadays', often in the sense of lack of order, violence and/or other moral standards.

The two most frequent subgroups here are:
1) People performing their jobs or passions, be it as doctor, firefighter, someone of the rescue force, a musician, sports player or something else.
2) People who suffer under violence and unlucky circumstances, trying to hold on to life when it tries so hard to tear them down.

(I'm not that far into BG and BP yet so if those change later on, I'd remove them)

!! About 4-punkan no Marigold: This manga has a MC that can see the last moments of a person's life. He cannot change anything about it though, no matter how much he tries. This means it is as if everything goes on normally with the exception that the MC knows what will happen. Added this because the story feels tangibly real, with lots of sorrow, powerlessness and loss.
So yes strictly it shouldn't be in here but this is an exception that is justifiable imo.

While it might look like you don't really need to know all of this, you never know when it will be useful: for instance with quizzes, random questions that you wouldn't know the answer to otherwise, fun facts to tell someone else, or if there's trouble or necessity of intervention in your vicinity.

When this stack gets full, I'll make #2 with the links in both descriptions, no manga in here will be swapped out (or in).

(Also thanks to stelllan, need to add Baki and Akagi later)

These are some manga that are left unfinished for a long time. I'm only going to include the series that i enjoyed and cared to read the rest of the story. I can assure you that these manga are enjoyable but it sucks that you can't read the rest of it. For me Official release would be fine too but it's very unlikely to happen. Please give these series enough attention so that some group might pick this to translate 🙇

Bakuman manga that got an One-Shot:

Otter-11
Money and Intelligence
Crow

The latter two aren't easy to find.

PCP has a light novel.

Anime:
Kaiba( https://myanimelist.net/anime/3701/Kaiba ): This anime has the gimmick of Money and Intelligence.

Notes on the Bakuman series:
PCP: A big thing is the so-called Serious Humor, but if you search about that, you find nothing. My take on that is that it's like the IASIP episode The Janitor Always Mops Twice.
But another thing that's very clear about the series when we see samples of it, is that there's always code breaking. Wether it's PCP or a rival. So the big difference of PCP and the detective mystery manga out there, is that nothing serious happens in PCP, so no murder to be investigated.
*The series marked PCP here don't necessarily fit in the serious humor, They are just series that maybe fits. If you find any somewhere that has serious humor, please message me, between these or others. I would really like to check one out.

Shady Detective TRAP: Standard detective manga. His visual constantly reminds me of Jack Black.

Reversi: It's Death Note, a no-brainer.

Crow: We never learn what the story is. There was a sky island arc so maybe a mainstream adventure manga kind of thing. Reborn, One Piece, HxH, Toriko(Gets in here mostly because Eiji's design is based on Toriko's creator). But Crow's design seems to be apparently based off +Anima, so you could check that out.

A Time of Green Leaves: Aoki's manga based on Mashiro's love life, so that's Bakuman.

Often times, productions that are marketed to children or Teenagers make us wonder if they were created for them, because of potentially explicit content, serious and mature plots or both. Namely, if these shows have an awful lot of Parental Bonus, Parent Service, and the like. Unfortunately, this can also bring Moral Guardians out of the woodwork if it seems to be blatant enough. This can also happen when something is given a G rating but has an awful lot of potentially explicit content.

This stack brings together manga focusing on intense training trajectories, where protagonists embark on a quest for excellence in a technical or demanding field. All are confronted with competitive or dangerous environments, where the gradual acquisition of knowledge, technique and composure is at the heart of the narrative.

Some underrated manga I read recently. I'll add to it over time.
All of them are great, but they're ordered with my favorites first.

I keep seeing underrated manga stacks that aren't actually underrated... so, I'm building my own. Hope you all enjoy :)

Monthly Shōnen Magazine (月刊少年マガジン, Gekkan Shōnen Magajin) is a monthly shōnen manga magazine published in Japan by Kodansha. It was launched in 1964 under the name Bessatsu Shōnen Magazine (別冊少年マガジン). In 1969 it was retitled as Monthly Bessatsu Shōnen Magazine (月刊別冊少年マガジン) and its publication frequency increased from quarterly to monthly. After suspension in 1974 it started publishing again, in 1975 it was renamed as current magazine title.

It had a supplement magazine called Shōnen Magazine R, which launched in 2015. The magazine originally published a new issue once every two months, until it became a digital-only magazine in October 2019 with a monthly schedule. In January 2023, Shōnen Magazine R ceased publication. In February 2023, a new web publication called Getsu Maga Kichi (Monthly Magazine Base) replaced Shōnen Magazine R. (Source: Wikipedia)

I base my list simply on the manga listed on MyAnimeList (https://myanimelist.net/manga/magazine/48/Shounen_Magazine_Monthly).

Those I haven't had yet and which have a good chance of moving up in the rankings: Kakushigoto, Kaze Hikaru, Nanto Magoroku, Rin and Violence Jack
