Synopsis

Itsuki Kamiyama has a strange fascination with the grotesque and the macabre, being particularly interested in disturbing murders. He can stomach even the most hideous crimes committed by the most warped humans and is drawn to unsolved cases like a moth to a flame. However, he is not merely intrigued by these cases—he is also adept at solving them.

While following the leads of an especially odd chain of crimes, Kamiyama gets familiar with his classmate Yoru Morino. As he spends more time in her presence, he begins to realize that she is more like him than he expected. With every case he unravels, Kamiyama slowly starts to uncover Morino's carefully shrouded past.

As Kamiyama's mask of normalcy steadily slips to reveal his dark tendencies, he finally allows himself to wonder—what if he were the one to take Morino's life?

I gave this an 8/10 - It definitely is not for everyone, and unless you're interested or is fine with gory depictions, as well as a romanticization of violence and mental illness, don't read Goth. However, if you're into a gory thriller, or better yet own the novel counterpart, this is a worthwhile manga to pick up.

It's exclusivity in subject matter is not its biggest enemy, but its potentials as an adaptation instead. It's a great adaptation, undoubtedly done by a fan of the original novel. However, it's 2 chapters short (these stories are extremely difficult to adapt anyway), which is a shame, and a ...

My actual score is closer to a 5.5, but I would rather round down in this instance. I have a lot of conflicting feelings about this work that generally stem from the core issue that it struggles with. The overarching premise is unique enough to buy in easily, but the author fails to take it any further than skin-deep through any portion of the series. There is very little characterization and next to nothing outside of the broad strokes carried between chapters. In Japan, many maniacs just need to be able to see them

no imagination, horror or unexpected turns

Very stupid stories about not like everyone else, special, depressive, languid anime of a boy who wants to kill, but falls in love with the sacrifice.

I do not like the representation of maniacs ... There are all morons except the protagonist. Dumb morons
