The continuation is just as entertaining as the first. I do feel like the latter half could have been expanded upon with the antagonist but the conflict had an open ending so I have a feeling this is not the end of the antagonist. I have one small complaint at the end of the series when Challe and Anne have "the talk" (if you watched it you know what I mean) and the conclusion they both came to was a bit unsatisfying however they will probably expand on the relationship between the two in that regard if there ever comes a season 3. I really ... hope there is one, we get so many shounen, the girls need a win every once in a while. It felt a bit misleading that the series overall was so much more romantic than the first just for the it to have no progress at the end of episode 12. Still, it's a very entertaining shojou, I loved it and it fulfilled my need for girly, whimsical content.

SHOUJO FANS ONLY. If you don't like shoujo don't watch it. It's a bit dramatic at times and I was surprised with the blatant show of sexism towards the female lead from some antagonist characters but that's what made it a little more different than other shoujo I've seen. Usually shoujos are all about happy endings, the male lead always ready to rescue in every adversity, and not taking things "too far" which I feel like this anime toned the fairy tale-like aspect of shoujo down to an extent. But it's still there so don't go in thinking that's not going to be there. I ... have a tiny problem with the pacing of the love developed between the FL and the ML, since the setting is rather sad and dark (slavery) in the beginning, I feel like the "warming up" process should have been longer given how they met, and the story could have been stretched out more, but it was enjoyable nonetheless. Some situations could have been handled better and I also wish they elaborated about the world since there are so many political dynamics going on, but I digress, the politics and rules of the world comes in bits and pieces, here and there, when it's relevant to the plot. If you like shoujo anime like Sailor Moon, Fruits Basket, Lovely Complex, Itazura na Kiss, Snow White with the Red Hair, Akatsuki no Yona, etc. then this is another show you will definitely enjoy. There's a Part 2 that's 12 episodes as well so there's a continuation to the ending of S1.

There were some boring parts to it and I feel like some of it was rushed and underdeveloped, however, it's an overall enjoyable sequel if you're not the overly critical stuck up watcher. I wasn't a fan of Part 1 but it needed to be there, Part 2 was fairly entertaining even though the main antagonists were subpar, and Part 3 just felt like a little extra bit of fan service, could or could not be your cup of tea. It's not perfect in the slightest, but, it's nice to know what happened next after season 1 and the main cast developed pretty ... well. If you liked S1 Shield Hero, you'll enjoy it if you just back and relax.
