Otokojuku is the funniest shit in the world there is this school and it's super fun and they are a bit fascist but the author knows and it's super fun and everyone loves it.
If you can understand beauty and art (or even just life) you cannot not enjoy it.

Then after the first few volumes it becomes another manga.

Otokojuku (after the first volumes) is an 80's manga in which very masculine men fight and die and laugh together.
Whether Otokojuku (after the first volumes) is a good manga in which such things happen depends on what the reader means by good manga.

If "manga" is a ... form of entertainment or a means for the author to showcase his skills and ideas, Otokojuku (after the first volumes) is sadly not a very well performed manga, it follows a very weak plot, the stakes are very low, the characters don't really do much beside being masculine, it's artwork is not aging very gracefully and while it can sometimes make you smile there are many many funnier things to read in the genre.

On the other hand, if "manga" is a format through which you (You! Not the author) explore other people's stories, then Otokojuku (after the first volumes) is still not a perfect manga (as the level of alienation you must suffer to "get into it" is much higher than in other series) but still it can help you reach a unique and honest perspective, which is something "bad" manga is not able to do.

I believe you can grow a tiny bit, or you can at least learn something new while reading Otokojuku(after the first volumes) . Just be aware it can be a bit of a struggle.

Still the start of the manga is really fun so if you don't care about the rest you can just read that and it's fun and nice and cool.

I present my opinions for magi, a very good manga you should probably read. When i say "very good" i don't mean in the intrinsic way a manga can be good (i.e. it's not good in the same fashion tengoku daimakyou or urasawa stuff or vagabond is good) if you pick up a random volume and read a few pages at random you would probably classify this as some mediocre shounen, just by looking at the artstyle or at how the dialogues are usually written. But Magi is not a mediocre shounen. The appeal of Magi is that of a manga in which plot and ... themes are well interconnected and in which the reader is respected.

Story
In an arabesque world there exist djinns and magis who are able to make people into literal kings. A lot of time is spent on the relationship between a king and its kingdom. Ah, djinn also give magic powas. A lot of things happen quite fast, some times things seem to go off track (1-2 volumes of a main character going around the world building trading routes and discussing policies) but they never actually do. It's all in the themes.

Power, as the opposite of freedom and how this duality relates to love, friendship, kingship, duty etc. etc. I said spoilers but read it and you'll see.

Characters
Almost every character is reasonable and open to dialogue to some degree. The few exceptions are so for well defined reason (only one exception to the exception, and that is what people complaining about the ending are talking about but don't worry it's just one volume and also like the manga is very fine even without it). I love it.

Art
It's ok. Personally i prefer the earlier volumes but it never looks great. Look at it if you want to know how it looks.

This is basically the black swordsman arc from berserk except gatsu is black and punches people head away instead of cutting them in half.
If you like the black swordsman arc you will like this.
If you don't like the black swordsman arc you will not like this.
Spoiler is: it seems like it was supposed to be an introduction to a much longer story (much like the black swordsman arc) but is still very enjoyable.
Really nothing much to say about it, if you have time to read longer reviews you would spend that time better reading the first chapter.
