I bawled my eyes out watching this, and I genuinely enjoyed it a lot. However, when you think about it more carefully, the show has serious writing issues. The way the story ends does not really make sense, and it fails to resolve or offer any meaningful solution to the serious issues it presents. It often comes across as trying to be pretentious rather than telling a grounded story.

You could argue that the story is fantastical in nature and that my expectations were misplaced, and you would be right. Still, when a story attempts to tackle such serious themes, it is natural to expect grounded ... storytelling, even when other fantastical elements are present.

That said, if you stop overanalyzing and focus purely on the emotional experience, the show is very effective. I was crying in almost every episode. I would still recommend it, but with tempered expectations.

Dragon Ball GT, for me, just feels like a whole show made out of filler. That’s honestly the best way to describe it. Almost every arc feels like it’s stretching ideas that could’ve been good but never go anywhere.

I’ll give credit where it’s due. SSJ4 looks amazing, and Goku SSJ4 is one of the coolest designs in the franchise. Baby and Super 17 also look great, but that’s really all they have going for them. Their actual stories are weak, the pacing is weird, and none of it hits the way it should.

The Shadow Dragons arc is another example. The concept is strong, but the ... execution is horrible. Most of the dragons are forgettable, and the arc never builds any real tension.

And the ending is just cringe. I didn’t like it at all and it didn’t feel earned.

Overall, GT is full of ideas that sound cool on paper, but the way the show handles them makes the whole thing feel like one long, unnecessary filler season.

Read it in a day. The story doesn't make any damn sense. It is just a stupid fever dream like Spirited Away. The initial promise was great and it was really entertaining. But then the story gets wildly unpredictable and goes to places you don't expect. Sure, it is still very much an experience to read the whole damn manga. However, when the story doesn't make sense and the characters' intentions don't make sense, you are left wondering, "What the hell did I just read?!" This could have been a way better story if it had some actual plot behind it. Nevertheless, it is an ... experience you can still enjoy.

Plot has become so trash after season 1, I don't know how people still enjoy this shit.
Season 1 is like 7-8/10 and rest of the seasons are at 2-4/10, including season 4. Sure, animation's improved, but that doesn't change the trash story.

Shit is worse than Bortuto fillers and it is canon content. What a joke!
Like we have some characters we don't even know how they came to be because they skipped lot of content and then we have some characters that we don't know who they are, because we had to skim through season 2 as it was appallingly bad.

Like how anyone can enjoy ... a show like this? I am not sure, how anyone can argue this show is enjoyable.

I watched both the Japanese and the English dub. Between the two, the Japanese audio with English subtitles was the better experience, which is what I expected.

It was actually good, especially coming from someone who worked on an anime for the very first time. Even though it is a short film, I was glued to the screen the whole time. My only complaint is that it took me two tries to fully understand what was happening. Because of that I feel the film could have used a little more time to develop things.

For anyone reading this, keep in mind it is only an ... 18-minute short film. Please give it a watch and decide for yourself. Personally, I think it deserves a solid 6.5 out of 10.

That said, it’s still great if you’re willing to stick it out. The payoff of the larger story and standout moments make it worthwhile, but it’s not a show for casual entertainment. It’s ... more like a slow-burn tale that prioritizes storytelling over keeping you hooked episode-to-episode. This can inadvertently make it feel dull at times, especially if you’re not in the mood for patience. But if you see it through to the end, you’ll appreciate the depth and enjoy how it all ties together.

Definitely not for everyone—only for those who value a good story over constant excitement.

Watched it in theater! It is literally a compilation scenes from an anime season, except it dosn't have an anime season. It is like watching the whole anime season in 1 sitting inside a theater, except it is not. Because the editing is like a compilation movie and they cut lot of scenes too.

Who would enjoy this editing in theater, no matter how good the content is?! Forget about, overlord's predictable plot like every other season, SO BAD! Two of my casual friends (who do watch overlord, but watch less anime overall), literally slept and said it was so boring and I agree.

It ... should have been an 8-12 episode season, instead.

Criticism:
It started really well, but they keep cutting in between fights to show irrelevant scenes. The whole season has been like that. There are some scenes where it really did help, but mostly it is just killing the momentum of the fights. This show is really good, because it's a f**king power fantasy and the fights go hard. They are killing the mood and tone set by the scenario (fight), by trying to add drama/scenes, which is irrelevant to the current fight. They literally took away the enjoyment, which the Manhwa ... gave, which is him leveling up with no other interruptions mid fight. Alright, I hate this when people say it, but I'm saying it. MANGA(MANHWA) IS BETTER.

OK! The last episode is ok. The Arise scene worked well and additional scenes again like they added that scene about his sister, that did nothing, but trying to kill the mood again! 🤦🏻‍♂️

Now, I know novel came first, so may be it follows the novel. But, I'm watching it with only reading the manhwa, so this is just my opinion. Also, don't like them hyping up the Jeju Island arc already. For me personally, it's the best arc of solo leveling, but we didn't expect it to go that hard. We didn't get any foreshadowing at all. But let's see how they do it in future seasons.

Simple story yet emotionally evoking with amazing production quality, beautiful animation, mesmerizing background score, and intrinsic sound design. Need to be in a particular mood to enjoy this anime. Second cour kinda started too slow, but it picked back up with the tournament arc.

Criticism:
The tournament arc was good and action packed, but at the same time it was slow. IDK it's so weird. This whole anime has been like this. Shit happens, but it's slow. Like I really enjoyed it while watching it and was emotional at times. But I feel like I'm forcing myself to enjoy it and I don't have strong feelings ... for it after I completed it. IDK if it's just the pacing of the show or something else too. Like if the popularity of the show is clouding my enjoyment/judgment of the show. I also think I started having these feelings once Sein left the team, so there's that.

Anyways, I would still recommend the show. The OST and Music are simply one of the best I have seen in any anime. OP and ED are bangers too.

First few episodes were actually little bit funny but it's boring after that. Looks like cheaper & light version of TenSura (even though its source material came first). Just like cautious hero, the pacing is so weird, one moment it's full on comedy and the next - it's completely serious.

The last 2 episodes came out of nowhere like suddenly he finds his people dead and becomes serious. If you see slime, they take their time setting it up and give a satisfying conclusion. This shit happened all in one episode and then they carry on to a completely different problem. Yo, what?!

All is said ... and done, it has potential to be a good isekai like slime, but I ain't liking the vibes and comedy of the show. It's boring so far. I'm hearing the source material is good so, is the anime adaptation completely rushed or what?! I am hoping the second season takes it time to set it up and balances the serious parts and comedy appropriately.
