I'd say her winning against Lakan, despite being worse at the game than him, actually bolsters her Mary Sue status. Think - even when she's admittedly worse than somebody at something, the show always contrives a scenario in which she wins regardless. Perhaps if she'd lost and faced some meaningful sort of set back that left her reflecting on the flaws in her strategy I'd be forgiving, but the show never does this.

Totes agree with everything else, though. Perhaps except there being a divide between critics' and the general audience's (as general as this particular audience is anyway) reception of The Apothecary Diaries. I've seen the show getting praised to high heaven by critics and normal people alike. The response isn't near as polarized as a typical F&F or MCU movie.
