This is the first time I watched the InuYasha (in 2026), so no nostalgic talking. And everyone should give InuYasha a chance, at least the first season/arc/part (episode 1-54).
I understand 167 episode is a very high bar to get into, and I also heard there are a lot of clichés and a lot of repetitions and potentially not progressing the story (same Villain through out). I can see I am getting very frustrated if I binge the whole 167 episodes in one go, but so far I have only watched the ep. 1-54 and the first movie and it is great almost masterpiece. The
...
last 7 to 8 episodes are starting to show signs of dragging, and repetitions where InuYasha versus everything while everyone else just being useless and watch. But I am really invested in the first 50-ish episodes and surprised by how solid it is.
Compare to modern anime (Inuyasha is very solid and grounded, for the part I have watched):
-The world building is simple but solid. It set in a mythical feudal Japan which isn't quite unfamiliar setting, and the show own explain what is needed which is also good. There are also environmental telling where raids carries out by the bandits form by deserted soldiers from the war is very common and a pain in the butt for both common folks and the ruling class, and freshly born yokais are everywhere, shows the brutality of the Sengoku period of war torn Japan when people cannot taking care of the living let along the die, which given a world is being deserted type of feeling.
-The character writing is great and feels more grounded. Unlike majority of the modern shows where characters just suddenly put into a group and suddenly became best friend with one plot point, in InuYasha thanks to its long run times, it is able to afford introducing characters slowly. Each character has their own interest and motives, and they are fully developed as a person instead of some character with a quirk. The friendship isn't just handed to everyone as a participation reward, when a new party member joining the group there are brake in period, strangers with the same destination where people don't buy in the grand vision of the protagonist, and conflict of interests challenge the cohesion of the group; then when the camaraderie formed, characters may start to postpone their own interests for the group benefit; and then friendship begin to form. Bonding takes time, where many modern anime doesn't have. And it is actual feels fresh to see group discussing a problem maturely and reaches a reasonable agreement instead of making decision purely on impulse and Shonen brain like a decision were made in a problem child daycare.
-Audio is simply masterwork, it was treat with care, and very JRPG like. There is a main theme and character themes that was used through out (have theme is rare nowadays), with the change of tones they can be serve as battle theme, romance theme, sad theme, or the bgm for slice of life, very JRPG like. And the sound effects are on part, where simple tracks/pieces are used to guide movements or actions.
-Art aged ok, not bad. If you are looking for outstanding sakugas you won't find any here, like a lot of 80s' 90s' and 2000 show the budget of production is quite limited, there are many reused shots but some of them are used in quit clever ways. The overall tone and theme is cohesive, the color palettes are pleasing and harmonized.
The length is its strength and downfall, a modern remake to tighten up the story would be nice but surely some charm would be lost. I could have a different feeling on Inuyasha after I fished all 167 eps and all 4 movies and its sequels or never being able to finish it, but it wouldn't change how much I would recommend for the part 1 of the series, and don't worry if there is no ending in the part 1, it has 54 episodes, pretty self contain in my opinion.

The overall plot and the story structure is actually really good and complex even for today's standards, however the execution is just... sad (it has so much potentials but the character writing destroyed all the redeemable qualities in this show).
The concepts and the general plots can easily makes this a 7 to 9 show, the story can be really intriguing when the plots hit and they hit hard. Of course, for a 90s TV the pacing is slow and draggy due to the TV rules back then (I have to admit I have speeded up the show, I don't think I would finish it otherwise).
...
A lot of cliches and tropic plots, but I would let it slide cuz this is a very 90s thing (you don't appreciate vintages for their utilities or performance). And the audio and animation departments are unimpressed through out, nothing to say here.
Despite all the tolerable flaws mentioned above this can still be a 7 or even 8 show if the delivery is good... until the character writing came in and killed it all.
Character writing is horrendously awful and cannot be justified. Other mediocre shows has 'plot device' side-character, Fushigi Yuugi has a 'plot device' main protagonist. Character developments and progression technically exist... but as 'plot devices' the characters behaved extremely inconsistent. Just for example, 'learning to trust you friends and not to relying solely on yourself' is a quite popular and hard to screwed up plot point that we are still using today, it was in Fushigi Yuugi as well, but in this show after Miaka (the mc) learned this valuable lesson-again, she would head straight into the dangerous alone unarmed and keeps being complete useless in the next episode for the 30th time... at that point I don't know if the mc is retarded or the show think us audiences are retarded? the same thing can be said for the 20th time when Miaka and Tamahome are broken up again or the 10th time when someone fall of a unstable cliff or bridge or the 100th time when Miaka shouting "TAMAHOME!!!" for help because she is completely useless through out the show. All of those repetitive and inconsistent character writing makes it impossible to draw a line for character developments and progression.
This show has a lot of moments that hit that want me to click on the next episode, but when the plot peaks I just could take it seriously, cuz at the back of my head I am always asking "will she fucked up again this time?" even till the very last episode. Needless to say the character writing Destroyed this show is not an under statement.
I have no idea if the character writing is as bad in the original manga, but I am probably never planning to find that out. (I lied, I tried to find the manga right after writing this review... after scanning through a volume I must say the animation is defiantly cheap out on production, there seems to be much more details between the plots that is not in the anime, I am probably going to give it a read someday.)
If you are looking into this 90s anime as a seasoned anime fan go ahead and watch at you own discretion, but if you are looking for a good anime then NO not this one.

This season feels --- different. There are multiple serious topics were touched on and the overall tone of this season is heavy, heavy through out the season.
The serious subjects were introduced in a very smooth fashion and the transition is seamlessly... they don't feel out of the place at all, in fact, the subtle delivery and the 'Madoka effect'(unexpected change of tone) made those heavier moment hit even harder than a lot 'serious' shows. It let the story and the details do the talking, so no preachy or edgy feeling at all.
Although this season still follows the
...
Spy x Family's formula, season 3 is definitely less light-hearted and less Happy. The heavier and more serious tone is not necessarily a bad thing, because I still enjoyed this season quite a lot, but I would also understand if this is not something someone is looking for in Spy x Family.

The biggest problem I have with this movie is the fight scene is way too looooooooooong!
(Minor tiny spoilers)
Too much good things being stuffed together may have an opposite effect. The last fight scene feels like twenty to thirty minutes long, ruins the pacing and the overall watching experience. I watched it in the theater, the first couple of minutes it is great it is masterful, the visual is over the top, it is flashy, colorful, and stunning; the sound system in the theater also did it justice the shock value and the dynamic of the explosions... But at the same time the amount of explosions
...
will makes Michael Bay shrinks. It got tired and felt repetitive really fast.
I remember I felt the focus have been lost at the half way point of the fight and begging the fight to stop, especially two third of it is about bad guy beating good guy non-stop in the similar fashion for 10 to 15 minutes straight, with zero progression and nothing new to show.
Honestly, I would say cut half of the fight scene off will make this a better movie. And I dare to say I may have enjoyed it more watching on a TV than in theater, in theater the peak is higher but the low is also lower in this case especially. I would give Reze Arc an 8/10 if the director cut half of the fight off, but unfortunately for what it is I can only give it a 7/10.

My personal bias is a slice of life hides under the big plots and hardcore magic system in a fantasy, and this LN suit me perfectly. [Vol.9 the end of Arc. 1 of the novel]
Silent Witch begin as a generic power fantasy, then a generic op protagonist with a quirk, then the story is set in a generic magic school at the student council with a generic reverse harm setting... but it is just keep getting more and more interesting, and fresher and fresher as the story progress, and finally in Volume 9th, a very natural satisfied ending (the author & publisher has confirmed the
...
Arc.II is coming soon, but if the story ended in Arc.I I would still be perfectly happy).
Silent Witch doesn't do anything special, it just has good characters, a very solid story, and arguably a perfect pacing; the character developments are on point, the story is logical, plots are not being pushed or dragged it feels really refined. Silent Witch uses a lot of generic settings and a lot of tropes, yet it still manages to feel fresh, because the settings and the tropes are not being abused or over used, everything is just in the right amount (again very refined). I cannot recall if there is one moment that I found myself being annoyed for the story being tropey or cheezy.
And the ending is perfection in my opinion. Without any spoiler, the story is well concluded, and it was ended in an after story style of writing where every characters' life (maybe except one) after the story ended is being introduced or somehow mentioned. Again, Silent Witch never tries to be an grand adventure or twists will blow you mind, it just tell a very solid and detailed story with good characters in it. When I read the ending it convinces me the idea of 'a happy ever after', this is probably one of the most satisfied ending I have ever read, not just in LN.
I give it a 8/10 after I read the volume 8th, and now I am debating if I should gave it an 9/10 or 10/10, it doesn't do anything too grand made me recoil like an end of a saga or made me questioning my sanity, it just telling a simple story well and refined that draws me in yet I could pick up a single satisfaction. Overall, I highly-highly recommend this read to anyone!

I don't think I can make to the end without the god like story boards and animation, and they are definitely carrying the show. But I have to admit I have skipped some parts because the story in 2nd season is just so-so-so boring. The big mystery left in the end of 1st season turns out just another quick plot point, that also not as flash out as the speed grandma arc. And the rest of the stories are all over the place that I don't think will become plot points in the future.
Again the story board is killing it, without it even with
...
the great animation I still think I would drop it before the half way mark. I never read the original material, but this 2nd season is really boring. I only gave it a 6 thanks to the great story board and animation. For those reason I don't recommend 2nd season.

Stop feeling good of yourself by watching this anime, you won't actually learn anything from it you will just spend the time to watch a mediocre anime.
'Hataraku Saibou' is based on the microbiology of human and aimed for a fun and yet educational experience. So I will evaluate it from both educational and entertainment perspectives and what types of audience I may recommend this anime for.
Educational value 3/10. It is not good, sometimes it is too general and sometimes it is too specific. What this anime did is basically just throwing names of microorganisms and such which I bet everyone have already forgot as soon
...
as the subtitle disappeared. You can learn microbiology by repetition and systematically understand the role of an micro organism and the textonomy to break down the Latin words so to understand what it is, not name drop it once and occasionally pair it with basic human body reactions. If you want something more educational just go watch 'Crush Course' it is pretty entertaining as well, or just actually sit down and learn microbiology if you are interested in the material.
Entertainment value 6/10. It is entertaining enough. The characters are unique and word building is intricate(obviously); the artistic portraiture of the organism and the inner system are very interesting; the story follows the monster of the week format no strong emotion involved a pretty chill thing to watch. Quite fresh and unique at first but getting old real fast a few episodes in.
It is hard not to makes a comparison with the 2001 cartoon movie 'Osmosis Jones' with the same settings. Due to Hataraku Saibou's more educational approach it really limits the creative freedom of the characters and stories. And arguably the anime even lost the educational point to the movie because the movie actually focused on one scenario for one and a half hours instead of 20 minutes, besides a more engaging story and characters makes it more memorable.
Finally, who am I going to recommend this anime to? People who has already understand the materials and watches a few episodes or scenes as a gag, cuz it is just a fan service at that point.

Straight to the point: Go read the light novel! Don't like to read just want to watch anime? go ahead it is a great watch!! ---- by me (who bench watched all 3 seasons then caught up to Vol.3 in novel)
Now lets break down the anime...
Art style: Not a huge fan, but true to LN illustration... kinda. Still a huge turn down for me (that is one reason why I'm so late to the party).
Animation: Bad, not good. I thought I was watching a 5 out of 10 early 2010 forgotten budget anime with budget 90's art style, it is bearable and it gets better
...
in later seasons but not much really not much.
Pacing/ story telling: As a LN enjoyer it is actually not bad, of course some plots got sacrificed for the overall cohesion and limited run time, but the delivery of this anime is quit good smooth and captured all of the key moments.
Voice Acting (JP): Not my specialty but I think it is good.
Original material: Really good so far. The world building seems to goes very deep (Haven't read that much yet and at the end of anime S3 is where a lot of fantasy/iseaki stories started); characters are great the right setting makes them much more believable and hats of for the anime for does the light novel justice, and made a few changes that straight up leveled up the scenes and enriched the characters with the limitation of run time; plots are being unfold very slowly which is very reasonable considering the setting....
As you can tell I really enjoy it, and I do understand if anyone gets turned down by the art style & animation, but either way, I do highly recommend to give this anime a watch and get into th LN maybe.

Great fan service, but hard to imagine for those who experience the Nier series for the first time, I think Ver1.1a should be an OVA instead of a full anime.
From anime only watcher's stands point. To be frank the pacing is awful and the story telling is bad, the anime includes many side quests from the game they are important for the overall development but without any exposition or conflicts it reaches climax and just end within 5 minutes that is also awkwardly jammed in between the main storyline, as a player I can understand what going on and why it is here but
...
the exactions are horrible. Besides, as an action game adaptation there is no action, the MCs slice through the problems with easies, there is neither struggle nor hardship, no raising action nor conflicts, the supposedly ‘boss fight’ ended in two slashes not even climax directly get into the resolution, so as good looking as the animation looks like, there is no real fight scene (until the later half of the Part 2). Everything in Ver 1.1a Part 1 and half of Part 2 is lacking of weight and impacts and also confusing, hence not recommend to any anime only watchers.
To player who has finished the Automata game thinking this anime is an alternative E ending, as I have mention in the previous section the anime can be quite sloppy sometime so think it as the 5th playthrough where you can treat the sloppy portion of the anime as a short recap. To fully enjoy the game I think you need to 100% the quests list in game same goes for the anime, and if you want to get all the references and Easter eggs you have to be an achievement hunter or at least have knowledge of them and played or have knowledge of Nier: Replicant as well. Therefore, for the game fans it is a fun watch with a brand new ending and new angles and tons of fan services and easter eggs.

--- What is it like to gaming with a cheater on the opposite team?
Glade to have another 'Gundam' from UC universe and this time from the POV of Zion's side since most is not all UC universe's 'Gundams 'are from the Gundam/federation's perspective. It really bring up the scale of war from a real, normal, and mature Zion foot soldier's POV instead of a problematic teenager, especially when she actually need to face the really protagonist of the franchises ---Gundam, a really underdog story that struggle to survive. This show is screaming with the original UC era vibe, so if you are a
...
'Gundam' fan you won't disappoint...And then lets address the TWO elephants in the room....
We anime watchers are all too familiar with the term 'anime CGI', the CGI from the beget anime industry just cannot compares to big company like ILM, and the 2D platform never sit too well with 3D yet... however if only one genre of the anime where the CGI could shine it is the mecha genre, and man this show looks good! Giving the credit to all original hand-draw animators but I think the CGI mecha is superior, the weight and impact behind every moves they make is really hard to achieve with traditional 2D anime. To be honest the Gundam in this show is a little wired, sometimes it feel too light (teleporting) yet sometime it feels to heavy and clumsy, but Zakus in this show tho, Zakus are perfect! It can moves fast but still has weight in it, it bend the knee and bring down the center of gravity then kick the ground extend the body, it has motions instead of 'teleportation'. This show really brings Zaku to life with the crudeness of that hundreds tons of metal monster, really a breath of the fresh air when today's mecha is more magical than mechanical.
The writing is a little bit childish but to be fair majorly the 'Gundam' does, so no big deal, the problem lies with the 'woke' perspective of the show. Personally I do not consider this show as 'woke', let me explain. Sure there are defiantly some 'woke' like/influence when it comes to the character design, yes I'm talking about the pink head rifle girl who is a badass female support with 'bad-girl' character design which is a classic character trop we have seen in shows and movies many times way before 'woke' exist e.g. the girls from Mad-Max-4 or 5th-Element or Cyberpunk-Edge-Runner, etc, slightly 'woke' maybe but as long as the 'woke' doesn't over-reach for the story I am cool with that. Then the only other female character is the main protagonist, she being a strong willed mother is the key factor that responsible for the progression of the story, the decisions she made and how her surrounding reacts to her because her character and background is essential. Therefore, the story does bend to have a female lead, the story has a female lead because she is the perfect character for the story.
To sum up, this is a short fast piece action pack OVA that is faithful to the origin material an honest tribute to the 'Gundam' fans with great visual (Zaku has never look this good! ever!), So if you are a 'Gundam' fan what are you waiting for??
