I first watched this anime at 14, focused only on which ship would sail. Now that Muse Asia release it on YouTube I rewatched it and I'm blown away how mature it all actually is.
The core theme is that nothing in love is fated and throughout the story we're shown hows how love can change, stay the same, or blossom unexpectedly. Chisaki learns that love can change, Manaka learns how love is fleeting and Kaname how love can be unexpected.
It's a story about freeing yourself from the idea of "one true love" and accepting that love is messy, painful, but ultimately human.

I was blown away by how atrocious this was that I had to return to MAL and write a review. This was on a backlog of anime recommendations my sister gave me which also contained Sword Art Online, I am convinced the entire list is trash.
The biggest issue and the one that's genuinely offensively bad is the way trauma is dealt with. Kousei has trauma from playing the piano and physical abuse and the literal scene he's introduced he's hit by a baseball and it's supposed to be funny... HUH? Throughout the anime, his friends harass him to play the piano even though they know ...

Despite the overwhelming reviews saying that this is a masterpiece, nobody I personally know actually enjoyed this film... We were all disappointed. That's what this movie is major disappointment.
Let's start with the strongest points Art and Sound - Goes without saying it's amazing, the soundtrack in particular is very catchy and fits well. The art is good but I would say Your Name had better art, in this movie things may look wonky sometimes. Characters - Here's where everything about this movie fall apart, the main character is just unlikable and static. It was nice to see him change in the climax but he almost immediately ...

Many anime onlys of The Rising Of the Shield Hero give this no thought and immediately shut it down. But I'm here to tell you, "Give it a shot, then you can tell me whether it's good or not." Though it's more enjoyable if you do, you can still follow the plot without having completed the main series.
