Yes, Rock Is a Lady's Modesty has some poor-looking 3D animation elements, BUT!

Rock band anime isn't as popular as it should be, but we get a series at least once a year. And in 2025, Rock Is a Lady's Modesty takes us to a school for upper-class girls, where the students are taught how to behave "in society," stripping them of their agency in the process. Mixed Feelings
It's that time when the non-chronological narrative of the Monogatari series, and the ambiguities and plot holes that come with it, reach a critical level.

Even though I watch the series in order, it's incredibly hard to keep track of what's going on or what the status of the characters is. And normally I wouldn't have a problem with that (I'm a huge NGE fan!), but here there's so much of it that I had to watch the last episodes of Koyomimonogatari and Owarimonogatari twice. The story of Sodachi and her relationship with Araragi was one of the best parts of the entire Monogatari series.

It's a shame that the whole thing wasn't kept in this tone - no fanservice, but well-handled, non-obvious puzzles. The best (or worst) thing is that I just realized how much this series has a problem with exposition - the characters just monologue for 5-10 minutes, explaining everything to the viewer, but the non-chronological narrative and the rather convoluted way of telling the story, straight from NGE or Serial Experiment Lain, make it take a lot of attention to figure out what's going on.

Non-chronological narration, oppressive editing that screams "watch me!" and subsequent puzzles of this puzzle – this is how you can sum up Monogatari Series: Second Season.

Each of the five arcs turned out to be a rollercoaster of emotions, although I will remember the one dedicated to Mayoi the most (and I'm not saying that, because the opening and music for this part were absolutely wonderfully charming!). Tsubasa's storyline was very interesting to me at first – more sisterhood! – but its ending was very disappointing. Here comes Araragi and as usual, he solves everything on his own, oh how wonderful he is. I understand that ...
