Wanted to give this anime an 9 but they included an highly unnecessary modern trope that ruins everything it touches. Yes, exactly as you thought. I can't mention it here bc the review will get banned probably, but it rhimes with 'bans' or 'cans' and has a t as the fort letter. Yes only in one episode but enough pushed to feel unnatural and does not belong in the anime at all.
There is also an episode (8th) that is purely recap, and in am 12 (13 with the recap) episode anime this is unforgivable. Then the 13th episode that's supposed to finish the anime
...
and should be 46in long, has a +/- 20min recap as well...
That that, the story, art and general feel of this anime is very interesting and the premise just makes you want to watch more. Sometimes beautiful and brutal at the same time, Wonder Egg Priority makes you think about a life never lived, or one in where you made a different turn or a random choice.
Give this a go if you love weird, sad, brutal anime, that makes you want to do over parts of your life. Don't be fooled by the bright colours and cure 'slice of life' vibe. There are underlying subjects that o will not tough on here bc you'll have to see it and find out for yourself.

We Won't Forget.
This anime is a good example on how to handle emotions (or the lack thereof) and how to go deeper into the thought you (will) have behind them. People that gave this anime lower than an 7 have never lost anyone, let alone multiple.
Hidden behind the war and the fight against untold odds hides the story of when you have nothing left in your heart, when you're exhausted beyond all possibilities and still choose to go on for others.
I would like them to make a 3rd season but that would maybe cause too much grey hairs. I loved it where they
...
left it. Maybe something good will come out of the people seeing this anime and thinking about what they are fighting for.
86 Eighty-Six.

So...where to begin...? This season finally picks up again, adds tension and actual drama. It still adds a little bit too many useless backstory of characters that we see for a couple minutes, and it cuts into time that should be used to progress the story.
Way to few twists, as there are almost none, which is super weird as there is so much space and story to work with. In the end, it all meant f all, and the ending was too predictable.
Don't get me wrong, I love the story for what it is but there is a tremendous amount of wasted potential.
...
I know there's gonna be a 4th and last season, but I doubt it can redeem it as a whole.
There is something to be said about Tackemichy and how they wrote him: He makes me so damn angry, he doesn't do 5h1t when he could have done a 1000 things. That they're able to make me feel so much anger and frustration says that they've done a good job...in a certain way 😅. But character wise, bro BE AT LEAST A LITTLE BIT SMARTER!
Anyway,
Season one: pretty good, nice start.
Season 2: absolute drag, slow and lots of useless backpeddeling. FRUSTRATING AF.
Season 3 (or 2.5 really): Good continuation, but could have been done in 8 episodes and should have added waaay more story, more back and forth to the future and could have had cool twiats and 'wtf' moments....
! So dear readers, 🐻 (bear) in mind that if you watch this to it's current completion you will be left hanging on a LOT of points and any sort of conclusion to most of the plots in this show. Peace ✌🏼

Let me start off by saying that anyone who gives this less than an 8 is clinically ripe for the straightjacket. The only reason you would give it an 8 instead of a 9 or 10 is the really slow start and you really need to be into law and a crime to even get though it. I am, and it cost me a bit. Bit once I was concentrated and I to it, it grips you and doesn't let go.
(Next part can contain spoilers)
I love the fact that the series conveys the woman's (!spoiler alert!) powers so well and you can almost feel
...
then yourself. Which is exciting and horrible at the same time. Furthermore going all over the place, from Japan to America and the inclusion of other countries gives a more broad sense to what all the buildup was for. So.e shows will do this over many seasons (and could be beneficial sometimes), but doing this in 12 episodes makes the story that much more dramatic and not stretched for strechings sake.
Cannot wait to see what's next. That ending was.....insane to say the least.

I don't normally write reviews for Anime's, even ones I enjoyed very much, but I thought I'd change that up because this Shinsekai Yori/From the New World should reach a LOT more people than it has.
I came from watching the whole Psycho Pass saga and wanted another anime that had that serious, more adult feeling to it. Seinen if you will. After coming across FtNW I looked up a trailer and stopped it within 20 seconds. Looked interesting enough to not be spoiled although looked pretty regular. I was right and wrong: very interesting, and absolutely not regular. Even in the 'dystopian' future' category.
...
Without giving away anything that might spoil or make the reader unnecessarily hyped/un-hyped, this anime faces some of the larger questions we face in society, wrapped in a good story, compelling characters and need need for the watcher to pay real attention.
Some people might say Shinsekai yori starts slow or is of the slower kind, but don't be alarmed, it's for good reason. Character development is well done and asks the viewer to think for themselves and fill in some gaps sometimes (as this anime takes place over a larger amount of time).
The art is well done, but also expected of the 'newer' anime's. Coming from 2012/2013 it's surly shows the new ways that were used and loved every bit or it. Brutality, a little bit of gore and magnificent sceneries, FtNW has it all.
!! I want to point out not to be scared of this anime in the sense that people take certain aspects this series contains and blow it out of proportion. (for example: people ask, is this a bl anime?) Just watch it and you'll see that most ('fears') will be ungrounded and make absolute sense. It's refreshing, fun and weird at times, but makes it so much more interesting and made me watch all the more. I'm now in search of another anime of this calibre and am very sceptical about finding one soon.
