A lot of action anime/manga feel the same and they tend to drag out things from time to time. Record of Ragnarok is very straight forward.
Story 7/10
The whole entire manga series is about notable people throughout human history fighting against gods. I don't just mean greek gods or roman gods or Jesus, I mean every god. Not only do you got greek and roman gods, but you also have Hindu gods, Japanese gods, Egyptian gods, Buddha, etc. The story maybe shallow, but it is at least original.
Art 9/10
The art in Record of Ragnarok is pretty diverse as you have very muscular men like Thor
...
and Heracles, but also less serious pretty boys like Adam. Also the way some of the characters are presented with great detail and extravagance. The art also has the feeling of a more cleaner version of Baki giving you this rush with it being more smooth and refined.
Character 10/10
There is one fight in particular that really shows the different charter archetypes and relations. The fight in particular is the fight against Jack the Ripper and Heracles. Jack the Ripper isn't the most morally prestige character, as he is one of histories most infamous murderers. He fights for humanity right to live. While Heracles also wants to fight for humanity by standing up to the other gods. He must first beat Jack the Ripper in a death match. So you have these two characters fighting against each other for the same cause.
Enjoyment 10/10
I personally don't really join action anime aside from JoJo. Record of Ragnarok is executed so well I teared up a little at the end of the Sasaki Kojiro fight. It is something I can't really describe, you just have to experience it yourself.
Overall 9/10
While the story maybe shallow, it makes up in its clean and smooth execution. It is still far from perfect but it is still one hell of a ride.
