this is like the most niche gundam show you could watch
the target audience is for younger people, yes, but it's also in general just an insanely nerdy show that makes an insane amount of callbacks and references to basically every gundam series, meaning a viewer can really only get the full experience by watching the original series and almost all of the alternate universe series while also having a background in building gunpla in order to really catch it all

it's very nice, i went in with low expectations and expected nothing more than a commercial for kids, but it's more of a love letter, it ... doesn't take itself seriously at all and the entire premise is just silly, but that's what makes it good- it's gundam at its core without any of the serious themes attached to it

there's a lot of parallels to other series in how characters are handled, but overall it's an insanely easygoing watch since the story isn't complex
the characters are all great, they have a fair amount of personality to them with many of them given time to shine and almost all of them end up being likeable

the series starts off slow but eventually it catches its stride and turns into nonstop fighting due to the nature of the series being a show about fighting to be a tournament world champion, there's a little bit of silly cyber-newtype esque drama sprinkled inbetween to keep things interesting, but overall it doesn't detract from the show when you consider how silly everything is to even be working out in the first place

is it perfect? no, but if you know what you're getting into, you're going to have a good time- it has its hyped moments and funny moments, the fight animation isn't top notch or anything (considering how much of it they have to make) but it can stand out at times with some shots looking insanely cool

by the end i was highly invested, i almost dropped the series early on but it was definitely worth following through until the end
