How or what to tell anyone about this manga… I finally decided to review this on a whim.
It’s interesting because when the author sets up the whole situation between Seki and Rumi, from day one, it’s disturbingly consistent with its synopsis. This doesn’t sound bad at all, except for the fact that IT DOES SO RELIGIOUSLY; the characters stagnate since you’ve met them.
The whole idea is that you’re obviously supposed to be entertained with each of Seki’s stunts, but this quickly loses its novelty because YOU CAN ONLY DO SO MUCH. This means the characters have to, at some point, develop some personality to make

this aspect of the “story” balanced. But it’s completely imbalanced and repetitive; just really unbearable. This manga tests your resilience with each of Seki’s circus performances at the school table. His character exists to do his repertoire until the very end.
And please do not get me started with Rumi’s reactions to Seki; they are incredibly monotonous as well. Just like Seki, she reacts the same way in every chapter. The effect of her reactions is to counterbalance the bizarre factor of Seki’s imagination, but it simply doesn’t work. The first chapter is self-explanatory and describes the entirety of the manga.
The scariest part about this is the creation of its sequel, Seki Jr. The name is self-explanatory: Seki and Rumi have this clown offspring. And Rumi is ….. just as surprised at her child’s stunts. WOW!
Anyways, people read this THINKING it will kill time. I didn’t read to kill time; just simple curiosity. But don’t expect it to actually entertain, although the author really thought it did. Maybe for the first 10 chapters, but you’ll lose your mind soon after. It’s a nice little concept and simple story so I can actually see the appeal of it :-)
