started losing steam at around 34 chapters. by chapter 45, I felt drained of the experience. I could respect the writing and keep reading if it weren't so exploitative. a sickening display, sure - but a great part of this sickness is on the authors and editors.
through reckless exploitation he gleams moments of humanity here and there. but it'd be a stretch to say he does anything at all tastefully. skipped ahead to see how things unfold and was also dissapointed.

as a child, I would read serialized comic book novellas such as this with some interest, considering them mature and closer to me than books. ...

It's by-the-book genre fiction, the definition of pulp, but let me be clear and say you should watch this, as, matter of fact, it is a rare instance of a detective drama done well in anime. Very exciting, thrilling, beautifully rendered in a style that is so precisely needed, a very glossy, metallic sheen to it all. I only wish there were more, but a part of me also knows that the visual quality is likely to only be so assured by the limited amount of episodes.

This is the biggest injustice i've seen on MAL. Somehow Genocyber has a higher score. I'll use it as a parameter: If the gore in Genocyber can give you the ick and put you away, the gore in Apocalypse Zero is tasteful, funny, and peppered in correct dosage. This OVA is the perfect blend of funny, interesting and insightful, with a brisk and breezy pace covering the first 3 volumes of the manga. I'm hooked, and I will be reading the manga to know more.

The design is lovely, both in human characters and monsters. The background setting, the story, will make you see the connections ...
