I think this is my favorite Ecchi.
What can I add that other reviews have not. Idk.
It's overtly offensive and edgy, but very creative in doing so. There are numerous fights, moments and scenes that are just... very creative. Comically absurd moments and dialogue (especially the post-mortem one-liners)
The first part of it leans heavily into the initial shock factor stuff, which is probably why negative reviews by people who dropped at chapter 20-40 are so harsh. But by chapter 100+ it actually starts having real character moments
The story also changes gears and even subgenre each arc keeping it fresh. First prologue part in the prison is
...
like a battle royale, then the first real mission (cruise ship arc) shows them using their skills to kill various mobsters, but the 2nd arc introduces enemy Medusa who are equal or stronger to the main heroine one's, which ups the difficulty.

One of the best MCs in this type of genre story
Firstly, there are reviews saying the MC is some kind of psychopath, but this clearly shows they only read the beginning.
The MC starts off as an edgy, selfish brat. However this series has some of the biggest character development and depth for an MC, because he gradually and realistically becomes more and more noble, realizing the value of people around him and while still mischievous and greedy, starts showing real insecurity towards his own value to the party and thoughtful consideration and care to his friends and lovers. It's great to see a character
...
mature and become a better person, especially since he realizes how this is actually a better way to live.
The way the MC interacts with the other characters is uniquely good. For example one of his lovers is a Yandere girl, and unlike many MCs who are just afraid of Yanderes or mistreat them, he has a genre-savvy understanding of this and basically tries to balance things out to make sure she is happy and not jealous. He actually "controls" her problems rather than just being like "Ahhh this pretty girl is obsessed with me I'm so scared". He's in an arranged(?) political marriage with a Barbarian/Merc woman, and he has an actual healthy adult relationship with her - something very rare in Manwha. Finally he has a "soulmate" kind of character, who's just as mischievous and scheming as him, and their chemistry is off the charts, they really complete each other
So one of the rare cases of male romance being written realistically and intelligently and an MC behaving like a normal adult.
Not to mention he's got a sense of humor, is observant, has mood changes.
Anyways yapped to long about this, I just wanted to praise the MC in particular. If you're like me and a little tired of the cookie-cutter "Stoic, cold, humorless Manwha MC who only cares about getting skills, items and training and has no depth" then this comic is a real breath of fresh air!
In terms of everything else, it is a pretty typical action/adventure story about guilds and video-game esq skills and classes etc.

A pretty unfocused and messy journey.
There's not really much of a focused main story. MC is trapped in a game world as a fat, ugly mob character. Occasionally hints of a plot about keeping the storyline intact or wanting to get stronger by exploiting game knowledge happen, but there is no long-term goal or focus.
The MC is the usual loner who interacts at a minimum with others and mixes between doing random things at his academy and leveling in secret with his sister. Why does he want to level? To save the world? Get rich? Go from zero to hero? Dunno, he just kind of
...
goes with the flow. The only motivation we really get is his desire to protect his newfound family, including his sister who's his main companion.
Because the MC is a loner most panels are just him, or him and his sister, so few panels can be devoted to any other character. Resulting in little to no character development or plot reason for side characters.
Such as Kaoru. At the start the MC is hated by her (and affected by this) when he is first summoned, but then she just... stops hating on her own. All we see of her is her on her own, vaguely feeling pity for the MC or admiration for the "hero" character
The recent characters with some potential are the other "Players". One is a former PvP rival of the MC, which is nice as it creates a history. The other is a dude who wants to manipulate the world to get a harem. Hey, his motivations actually are focused and make sense.
Nothing really awful though, the art is good, action bits are fine, and maybe it will get a plot in the future.
Also it's listed as "harem" but I have no idea why. The MC mostly just is with his sister. He also has a friend (the rival Player), but they're just pals and he makes no effort to not be fat/ugly. So it's not a harem story really.

Simple and cute.
A geomancer witch and her mercenary bodyguard flee to an unknown continent to start a new life free of persecution, and get involved in a manner of conflicts and situations along the way. This is a more grounded and simple fantasy, you don't have to worry about characters explaining charts and diagrams of RPG stats and magic-mana cultivation systems, our main mercenary bro can't even use magic, he just chops people up the old fashioned way.
The romance is done well, teasing cute moments and expressions between the two leads (my fav so far was the hair-brushing scene). The art is what elevates
...
it to another level, especially with how our witch is drawn and the adorable expressions she's given

I'm not saying this what I consider the best manga/anime ever. It is instead the ultimate guilty pleasure.
The first great thing about this series is that, being an Isekai, it actually does something with the Isekai format. A lot of Isekai features a character transport to a world in episode/chapter 1, then the series basically never does anything with the premise again, aside from a few times the character might say "this food reminds me of [Japanese Dish] back in my world" or something. At that point, it's not really making the most of the Isekai concept and is just a normal fantasy adventure.
This
...
series actually tries having lots of fun and thoughtfulness to the Isekai format. The MC uses his old-world knowledge to a high degree, he introduces technology and concepts from our world to a vaguely 18/19th century setting, to grow powerful and rich. It's one of the most obvious things a person sent to a backwards time period from our time would do. This results in some very fun ideas, like Shadow "Inventing" department stores to create massive wealth, or teaching one of his disciples about popular literature of our world (basically like Harry Potter) which she uses to become a famous author.
The MC is just fun. He is not a usual shoenen hero-guy who crusades against evil and monsters for justice and the power of friendship, nor is he a full villain, instead he is a selfish chuuni dork who loves living out his fantasies, and exploiting his power selfishly, for our amusement. Whether he engages in mischievous schemes or genuinely helps someone is up to his whims. He is not saving the world, he is not destroying it, he is exploiting it for his entertainment. This allows the show to have a fun and unique premise, a third option besides good vs evil and hero vs villain.
The show is full of fun, memorable and creative scenes that exist to illicit maximum fun and enjoyment. So many clippable, quote-able and memorable moments exist one after another.
The voice work is also great. Asami Seto is so sweet as Alpha, Shadow is great especially his maniacal and chuuni moments, or Fairouz Ai as Delta who goes utterly ham at times in the best ways.
This is the power fantasy, done best.

I agree with so many of the harsh reviews, but I try to be very positive. Even so, at best I can say this was a flawed series.
Season 5 is the strongest of them, simply because it had the most potential. Seasons 1-4 were weakerI think, as it was often just the most predictable action-adventure-fantasy tropes and an MC I simply cannot relate to overcoming every challenge (i.e. fight) in ways that were never new or interesting.
So season 5, why was it better? It had more potential in the plot and villain. The baddie of this season was not some big monster
...
that Bell would dodge around until he found its weak spot, it was a possessive yandere goddess who actually had a really elaborate plot that used psychology and gaslighting to try to "defeat" an MC who otherwise we know is not going to lose any physical fights. Midway through, it was genuinely quite interesting seeing the hopelessness of the situation, seeing the few characters left to resist the villainess trying to figure out how to take on an entire brainwashed city and the most powerful(?) familia. Without spoiling, I'd say the resolution was not as smart and interesting as I'd hope, perhaps even too easy
For characters, the supporting cast has more going for it than Bell. It was far more interesting seeing characters like Freya or Hermes banter and scheme than anything with Bell. As other reviewers said, he's a weak MC but for season 5's credit, Bell was coached by an elf to be less annoyingly pathetic like typical isekai MC's tend to be.

It's ok, barely in recommended.
The pros:
- Revenge plot, simple idea with clear goals
- The premise of dying over and over and using death and resets to overcome near impossible struggle is interesting.
- The interactions with the Vampire are the better ones, his skillful appeasement and careful wording to not be murdered by her constantly was smart and tense. This even becomes pseudo-romantic and she gets character development
The cons:
- The English translation of this just cuts out at chapter 20 and has for a while, pretty much at the exact part he's going to get his revenge, so major problem of blueballing the plot for
...
English readers
- The Yandere Heroine. The first cycle was nice because despite the MC's actions being hard to relate to and kinda stupid (he wont love her because.... he loves his long-dead crush?) and it was nice seeing him suffer the consequences of rejecting her, things get weird and interesting but never properly explored. The second time she comes back she seems to "know" something and even kills him, which is seems interesting... and never explained. Later she appears to break free from her imprisonment (That should require his help for) on her own, to murder him twice. Like, that's pretty wild, how did she do that? What's going on with her memories? Never explained ever. Also the usual manga issue of an MC who can't communicate well, he never asked her what's going on or why she's attacking him, contrasted with his inquisitive communication with the Vampire. He just accepts his death.
Yeah its flawed and unfinished but has good ideas

It's worth it to read for mystery fans, I'll get the good out of the way. There is a solid mystery, worldbuilding to explain the lore, and an MC who is relatable and who's actions are understandable. Overall solid. Then of course there is Mei, who is a bit silly at first in how they were trying to tease her being a ghost or something, but she's a decent sidekick.
One flaw however that is quite silly is the comically stupid lack of communication about the curse Talisman in the beginning. The students choose Mei to be invisible, but don't tell the MC the rules, so
...
being a normal guy he just talks to her like a normal person would. The students are then horrified that this happened, one even claims she'll never forgive him, and people start dying. At best, Mei and other just say cryptic warnings that obviously don't work because the MC has no idea what they're rambling about. I get that the plot may not have happened without this, but maybe it could have been done intelligently

I like revenge stories and this is one of them. But to put it simply, a flaw of this manga appears to be pacing. 50 chapters in and the MC has not taken any revenge on anyone yet, in fact he has yet to even see his classmates, part of the charm of revenge stories is well... the revenge parts. I have no clue how many more chapters it will be until things finally get going, Likewise the entire first arc, finding Erika to translate text, was a dead end.
The Characters are fine. Touka, the MC, is pretty standard and refreshingly acts mature and human
...
about romance with the main elf Heroine, Seras. Their early interactions are stiff and weak with a lot of "I shall be your sword" over and over and formalities, but they warm up to each other and it gets better. Likewise things are more fun when Eve joins. Eve has a fun design to her and her own story/motivations. Seras is decent and has a lovely kindness.
Here's to hoping it wont be years before the revenge part starts

Just barely out of the mixed feelings category. Mixed for people who are weary of Isekai, but recommended for Isekai junkies. The good thing is that there isn't anything wrong with the plot, it's pretty standard Isekai where the MC needs to keep a game world on track for a "good ending". The MC is trapped in this game world first, a dating simulator (but he's a background character), but his bratty sister also invades and begins creating mayhem by seducing all of the love-interest Princes. Her and the princes rise and fall is decent.
The two love interests are quite lovely, some slow-burn character development
...
with them.
"Romance" plot spoilers:
The MC though isn't a strong selling point, he is difficult to relate to and is one of the most severe cases of my most hated Manga cliches. He's supposed to be an adult but acts like a child at times. He has two gorgeous love interests who clearly love him, but for the longest time he tries to keep them in the friendzone. It gets so ridiculous that he is forced into an arranged marriage with them after they have had enough of his cowardace. Then the worst scene happens when he has a panic attack just from seeing his wife in a nightgown, a grown man acting like an 8 year old. Yes this might be a petty thing but its an overdone cliche and I and others don't really relate to or self-insert such a pathetic ultravirgin who doesn't act his age at times. I wish authors would stop writing MC's like this so often.
The MC also lacks ambition to an insane degree, but I think this might be plot-related and have a reason. If not, then its another aspect that's hard to relate to
Aside from those two gripes about the MC it really is quite average.
