These 2 titles share a lot: Similar elementary school setting, similar themes (comedy, drama, romance) and similar personality of the female MC. Also the art is similar, especially the character designs. Uzaki looks like Hayama's twin. I guess if you like one, chances are high that you like the other.

These titles take place during the final years of the Tokugawa shogunate in Japan. They tell the life stories of the protagonists that lived throught those turbulent times. The protagonists are confronted with the changing times, change themselves and contribute to the changes that occur around them. I found those titles fascinating as historical pieces and character studies.

These titles take place during times when Japan was undergoing political transformations due to external influences: Night Raid 1931 in the 1930s, Oi! Ryouma in the 1850/60s. The challenges that Japan faces and how to respond to these is being discussed among the characters. And the characters do not only discuss, since politically motivated murders are quite common in these these titles. They also shed a negative light on western (Oi! Ryouma) or Japanese (Night Raid 1931) imperialism in China. Persons that really lived are part of the cast. In Oi! Ryouma this includes the main character, in Night Raid 1931 some side characters. Also various events being covered are real, light the Mukden Incident (Night Raid 1931) or the arrival of the Black Ships in Japan (Oi! Ryouma) are being covered. These titles are rated kinda low on MAL, but I found them quite enjoyable. As a plus, they made me feel like I learned something about history in the watching process.

These titles' art style is inspired by western comics. They take place in an urban setting, probably inspired by the USA. Among the MCs, there is a female android (who is also the Hero in Cyber Six) and a sturdy man (who is also the hero in The Big O). The hero prefers to wear black. The enemies are equipped individually with mechanical gadgets and special abilities. Many characters are more or less the product of the biological and/or mechanical sciences. Most episodes are about fighting these enemies While the MCs fight the individual enemies, they gradually come closer to the evil masterminds, who lust for power. The conflict with these gets resolved in the final episodes. If you are looking for western style dark urban adventure sci-fi settings, these titles might be of interest.

These titles take place in the real world, where disaster hit (or hits) earth. They deal with armed conflicts, politcal corruption and power sgtruggle in a realistic looking way. The main characters are from pretty different ways of life and may be on the same side or on different sides, depending on the progress of the story. The story spans various decades, during which the characterts change appearance and character. Science fiction elements are included, that can lead to salvation or destruction of humanity. I think these are epic titles. Flawed masterpieces with the flaw being the endings.

The protag is a whiny little gangster, loses a fight, and then becomes a miserable little gangster, until he dies, backstabbed by his former comrades. He then gets catapulted into the past. Realizing that, he finds the resolve to get over his whimpy self, get some courage and correct his mistakes of the past. The titles differ in the way they depict gangster life: In Tokyo Revengers, gangsters are children, whose goals are brawling and becoming the strongest. Seems kinda dumb to me. In Emblem Take 2, gangsters are young adults who became gangsters for the money. Appears to be believable. I like Emblen Take 2 more.

These shows take place in different branches of show business. We get main characters who are not always doing their best, are moody and sometimes unreliable. However, they form the center of their teams, and while not loosing their weaknesses, they also progress in a way. Thanks to the entertaining MCs, I liked these shows (more than the average MAL user).

A guy of noble origin, but poor becomes a fighter for justice. He finds friends, and a love interest. One major enemy is conspiring to take over the country, and various episodes are dedicated to the protagonist's fight against the antagonist. Various mechanical items are featured. Some serve as weapons, and there are even flying machines, which would have been quite a sensation in their time. If you are looking for light hearted adventures in a historical setting with some fantastical elements, I recommend these titles.

Popolocrois Monogatari

These 2 titles take place in fantasy worlds, and have child main characters who go on a rampage when confronted with unfamiliar feelings like envy and jealousy. But their characters are rather different. Prince Bright in the "Twin Princesses" starts as a nice guy, but when given powers, the dark feelings in him gain the upper hand, and make him a villain. He acts calm and calculating when he does the bad thing. Hyuu in "Popolocrois Story" is not so nice to begin with, and she already has powers, but gets catapulted into another world and situations she is not accustomed to. When she follows her feelings that dwell up in her, she acts rather erratic. I would recommend these titles as studies of child characters in fantasy worlds who deal with the evil inside them.

I would like to add that in both series there are robots with boobs, which can be pretty large in Godannar. Which makes Godannar somewhat more fanservicey on the mecha boob design level. While piloting, the female sits in front, and the male behind her. In Darling in the Franxx, the female's position is somewhat more lewd though.

Similar protagonist, similar tropes. - Protagonist is a girl who grows up in the countryside - She is nice (too much so for my taste) - Animals love her, and she has a little animal consort - Also most humans like her, and she has many friends - And some (male) devotees who would even risk their lives for her, without getting anything in return - She gets into the high society - There, she meets her first serious enemies - Especially a girl around her own age hates her, and plots against the protag I found Candy Candy somewhat better, because it contains more interesting subplots and side characters, thanks to its length. But if you fancy the same elements of the main storyline in a shortened version, you may watch Charlotte.

If you watched Legend of the Galactic Heroes expecting some great political drama and were disappointed, I recommend Oooku. In Oooku, you get protagonists of different ages, genders and backgrounds responding to a catastrophe in their own ways. In that situation, the decisions of the characters and their interactions affect the political and social landscape of a nation. I found it a fascinating watch. However, for an entertaining series of battles involving two young men with seemingly superhuman abilities, go for Legend of the Galactic Heroes. Somewhat shallower than I expected from all the praise, but still good to watch.

Both these titles are about acquiring items, either by stealing (Lupin III) or by archeology (Montana Jones). The episodes are pretty much stand alone, with the characters having adventures in different parts of the world. The main character team consists of the some males, and a female (who can be actually useful if she wants). There is also an antagonist who shows up in almost every episode. His name starts with Z. However, Zenigata in Lupin III is on the side of law and order, and Dr. Zero on the opposite side. If found these titles quite enjoyable as episodic adventure stories.

Kaijuu no Kodomo

I found the visuals of both these films gorgeous. In Birth, it was more the animation, in Kaijuu no Kodomo, more the background art. In many scenes, there are people falling or floating. Not many words are spoken, and if there are, they did not make much sense to me... The stories were somehow about birth and rebirth and cosmic forces, but I could not really follow, because during the beautiful scenes, my thoughts were wandering somewhere else and I found myself dozing off, which I consider as a bad sign regarding entertainment value. But for someone who can sit through almost 2 hours just for the beautiful art, I think these films can be recommended. People like me who expect a story may use these films as visual sleeping pills.

Ashita no Joe

Both these titles were made at the end of the 60ties/begininng of the 70ties. They show the protagonist's career from humble beginnings to the world top of their respective disciplines in a continuous storyline. Apart from sports, the story contains dramatic elements, is sometimes sidetracked and there is some romance. But the non sports elements greatly enrich the story and add to the character development of the protagonists. Actually, in the field of characterization and character development, I regard Ashita no Joe as my personal reference, to which I compare other titles. Attack No 1 may not be as good in that regard (I know of no other title that is), but it is still pretty good. So if you are interested in an epic story about the development of a character in sports and as person, these titles may be of interest.

Episodic criminal cases are taking place in England, mostly among members of the upper castes. There are no murders though, just theft or fraud. The protagonist solves the cases with his/her helpers, who live in the same apartment. In short, you get some unbloody criminal hunting in these titles.
