Both series feature a same-sex couple with a questionable age gap as protagonists (child/teen in HSL and preteen/young adult in LL). The older person of the couple is devoted to the younger one to an unhealthy degree, seeing no other meaning in life otherwise. Both series tackle topics of love and trauma in the aesthetics of cute mixed with edgy, with the main characters of both stories coming from abusive backgrounds.
