Where do I even start with this one?
Chainsaw Man: Reze Arc Movie has absolutely blasted away any expectations I had. Seeing the outburst of positivity surrounding the movie and how incredible it supposedly is made me obviously set my expectations quite high, however even that wasn't enough for what the movie actually provided.
Trying to fit and properly develop a completely new character in a movie, a short one at that, is incredibly difficult and audacious. Despite this, MAPPA and Fujimoto curated this masterpiece of a movie to delicately showcase Reze to us. An incredibly alluring yet suspicious (similarly to Makima) character, her overall personality is

portrayed with the utmost of love and care from both the animators and the voice actress. I especially found large enjoyment with her quirky dirty mind, something Denji constantly had to put her on the spot for, which was super funny. Having seen snippets already circulating online beforehand, it still didn't prepare me for how convincing of a character she'd actually be in the movie itself. Reze, while on the larger view a rather simple character in terms of writing, is executed to near perfection in my opinion. She's complex enough to the point where we like her in the beginning, maybe even love her to a certain point, to being confused about her, disliking her before we fall in love with her all over again. Absolutely love her, especially after having heard so much about her.
The animation. What can I really say? It's MAPPA. Even after having watched the recent Demon Slayer movie, this is probably on par or EVEN better. The fluidity, the impact frames, the color switching alongside animation is absolutely breathtaking. This movie really portrayed things I personally haven't witnessed in anime before and it really sets yet ANOTHER new standard for anime shows as a whole (first one being Demon Slayer).
The music. Oh man, the music is probably one of THE best things about this movie. The constant switching of tracks during the climax fight throughout the whole thing and the amount of variety is absolutely absurd. Not to mention, the fact that every individual track is amazing in of itself is another testament to the craftsmanship that went into the production. The piano pieces during the pool scene are so beautiful, and not to mention the opening, "IRIS OUT" and ending, "Jane Doe". Kensuke Ushio & Kenshi Yonezu absolutely outdid themselves this movie. Deserves to win awards.
I'm incredibly intrigued to see where the show continues and I'll probably be reading the manga after this, just because of how damn good it is.
Season 1 was decent. This? Cinema. Quite literally. Easiest 10/10 I've ever given and the amount of 10's it's getting from everyone else is FULLY justified in my opinion.
