Pupa is an anime that was released in the Winter anime season of 2014. It is a 12 episode fantasy, horror, and psychological anime made by Studio Deen.
Before I go on, If you have not seen Pupa, I advise you to do so. This review will have spoilers in it. I will not summarize what happened, This review is mostly my thoughts and what I wrote down during it.
As this is my first review I am sorry if the structure is subpar or worse.

Story: I thought the story was
...
very very interested. At the start when the dog exploded unleashing the pupa virus Into Yume was a bit disturbing. The episode that showed Yume turning into the monster, I believe episode 1 or 2, I did not enjoy much. Every episode after that except for the last one was enjoyable. The last episode had no place in this anime whatsoever. It was another flashback to when Yume got her hairpin. Although some may say that it could have been put for backstory, it did not answer any big or lingering questions and thus a waste of an episode. There was really no proper ending to this anime and left multiple questions left to be answered. (6/10)
Art: The art is very pretty and I found it to be very enjoyable the whole time. The colours went well together. Thanks to this art style, the disturbing moments shined and their normal everyday moments were nice and brisk. (7/10)
Sound: I believe the sound sucked in this anime. In the parts that had Yume eating her brother's flesh, it had music you would hear in an everyday slice of life anime. The music was so out of place but perhaps that is what they were going for. (2/10)
Character: The characters were written poorly. They did not get much development. Although the flashbacks added to the backstory and answered questions, it was not enough. I did like that they went back to the sibling's abusive upbringing. It seemed like the brother became a masochist when he was being eaten by his sister because his mom was masochistic when getting beat. I thought Yume, The sibling's mom, and Maria were all hot. (3/10)
Enjoyment: I somewhat enjoyed this anime. I laughed once in this anime and that was in the episode "Caterpillar." The moment was when Yume tried to defend her brother and got shoved away while the man trying to kill her brother yelled, "shut the fuck up" at her. I also liked how Yume gained a semi-human/monster form when she had the arms coming out of her back and yellow eyes as she killed soldiers. The backstories were interesting and the art was beautiful. The disturbing imagery did its job but characters were lacking in development and personality. The idea for the story is very interesting but it was not executed to its fullest potential. If it was given some more love and the episodes were 7+ minutes, I believe that it could be a 7/10
