1 - fights for a position as king (Shaman King and Celestial King) 2 - protagonists do not really give good reasons why they want to be king (Ueki is just doing it because the candidate who chose him is supposedly "testing" his abilities, and Yoh from Shaman King just wants to be king for his own selfishness and live a relaxing rest-of-his-life). 3 - "Teaming up" with partners, although Mr. K didn't really do anything in Law of Ueki except for being a spectator. 4 - Nature... quite some signs of Mother Nature going on, especially in Shaman King (Spirits, forests, traveling in Shaman King and Ueki planting trees in the first volume) I've only read the first volume before typing this up, so this is all I can give you.

1 - Children with epically pwning supernatural powers fighting each other. 2 - Teaming up; Mamodo and Bookowner, and Candidate and "that chosen junior high kid who then gains some special talents after being selected by the candidate" 3 - Battles and struggles to determine a worthy king (Gash's case, a King of the Mamodo World, and Ueki's case, King of the Celestial World hahaha ☺) 4 - Numerous vows to protect are made in both series...
