Firstly, the main thing I loved about this series has to be the setting and characters which are set up nicely in the first episode, showing the intriguing magical culture in the fantasy land which juxtaposes its military theme. Furthermore, the writing of the characters seems to flow throughout the series, exposing their flaws and what exactly drives them, although the series does not delve into their backstory to a large extent for many characters. Despite there being an obvious story being told in the series, it never became apparent to me why certain characters acted the way they did, or even really the goal

of the main character - this was due in many parts to the show only having one series which was left on a note where the main character would have suddenly undergone a change in goal and personality; though sadly it did not come to be. I link this anime heavily to Code Geass in some way due to the MC being a cunning strategist who always seems to have a trick up his sleeve in order to turn the battle on its head, but the cocky and lazy nature of Ikta made it so much more enjoyable to see him win: he always left me surprised. I found the voice acting for most characters rather enjoyable however some made me feel that they did not suit the vibe of the characters they were portraying (at least in the dub). Overall, the series was very fun and enjoyable to watch due to its great world building and themes, however, I found it to lack in certain in aspects like some of the main characters (who were set up well in the beginning, but gradually lost momentum and were never fully explored) and the development of the overarching plot. Personally, I'd recommend this anime if you'd like to watch something interesting and fun, though lacking in plot devices, however, do keep in mind it may never receive a second season.
