This is a solid anime. The visuals are absolutely stunning, and (at least for now) it isn't brainless isekai slop where the focus is completely on one character getting stronger each time with no end in sight; The premise is intriguing, there are a nice set of characters, and they've done a great job with progressing the story and overall world building so far.
While the "falsely accused MC" and "child goddess" angles have been used many times, that's fine by me as long as they're executed nicely. The only thing I'm concerned about is the waiting game we'd likely have to play for the next
...
season, because if you check out the intro, you'll notice that production for this season started in 2024. You can tell that the studio put a lot of effort into this, but it's a bit disheartening to see that it's just 12 episodes, because we likely won't get a new season - if we get one at all - for a long time.
With that said, what I've seen up till now has been great and I'm interested to see how the story plays out!

I haven't enjoyed the culling game so far, and no, it's not because of the numerous rules / the amount of time spent on exposition. For me it boils down to the general direction the story is taking.
The Shibuya incident was good, but it had a huge problem in that far too many characters were killed off / rendered useless. In the end, we don't get character growth from majority of them, and while we're still trying to piece together who is alive or at least has a chance of showing up in the culling game, Tengen talks about brand new characters, and how oh
...
so important they are to the plot completely out of nowhere. "There's a sorcerer from a thousand years ago whose cursed technique can extinguish any cursed technique" - where did that come from?
I know some people might be Intrigued at the idea of ancient sorcerers competing in the games, but that doesn't interest me at all because I'm sure the majority of them will be dead soon anyway. On top of that, the pacing of this season is all over the place. I refrained from reading the manga, so I don't know if it's an anime only thing, but pivotal moments that should carry weight are glossed over in seconds, and new characters pop up out of the blue and get dispatched just as fast.
So, story wise, at this stage I don't really have much to invest in. The animation and music are still top notch tho, and the Yuji v Yuta and Maki v Naoya fights look amazing, but overall the experience just ends up feeling hollow to me.

Well, the fight scenes and the score were great, but my problems with this film stem from 2 points;
1) The main villain is literally temu AFO/Shigaraki without the character development. And besides the fact that his power works exactly the same as theirs, we get absolutely nothing from him story wise, so theres no weight in the "new world" he strives to create at all. He's even worse than Overhaul on that front. In the first movie we get introduced to new, unique characters whose stories actually have an impact on the world building overall. We simply don't get that here
2) Not to spoil
...
anything, but for the ending the writers pulled a move out their ass that was never explained, and never touched again after that incident. At this point in time i just finished season 7 so unless it gets included in the finale, which it probably wont, that part of the story is so head scratching that i genuinely believe you're better off not watching this movie lest you ruin any lore/world building the show might have established before now.
Overall, being the filler cinema flick that it is, I guess it did the job it set out to do, And if you intend to watch it purely for the fights you might yet be satisfied. But besides that, you wouldn’t get anything new or interesting at all.

Wandance has a pretty basic and predictable format, but it has strong themes that should’ve made it a good watch especially for people dealing with anxiety and stuttering like the MC kabo does.
But unfortunately, its impossible to feel invested in the story because the cgi abominations that take centre stage during the dance scenes are absolutely horrifying. They are beyond terrible. And its even more jarring because the scenes that DON'T involve dancing are actually really good.
Im not someone who constantly frowns at the inclusion of cgi in anime, but this series truly has some of the worst cgi scenes I've ever seen. Bad
...
cgi for backgrounds and minute details can be negligible, but bad cgi in the forefront of a dancing anime is a very big problem. And once more, given that its a dancing anime, its clear that there’s going to be MORE dancing in the episodes to come, and theres no way im sitting through any more of that…

Putting aside the fact that the story has a lot of generic Isekai tropes (+MC has a little sister and a sick mom lol), 4 episodes in and i feel the story is quite good. However, everything is really inconsistent right now.
The first episode had promise, and the fight scenes were amazing, but the very next episode was downright terrible.
I felt like I was watching the anime at 4x speed: everything was happening so fast that any and all emotional weight from the plot was wiped out from the get-go. I don't know if the plan was to get the first arc out of the
...
way as quickly as possible, but it really did seem like they were rushing it along. The dialogue, the flashbacks, and scene transitions were carried out so frantically that it made the experience jarring and corny. The quality of the fight scenes had a significant downgrade as well. I kid you not, in this episode, none of the fights against monsters, demons, or whatever went on for more than 30 SECONDS.
Thankfully, from the next 2 episodes it seems like things are getting a bit better. We get introduced to Night and Amelia here. While Night's backstory was definitely rushed over, the episode where we learn about Amelia and her sister was really compelling.
So I'm not sure what to think of it right now. There are times when the story and animation move into high gear, but there are other times when everything looks really cheap and messy.
Are the execution problems just early hiccups? Will the story pan out nicely or fall off as a lazy and predictable one?
I guess I'll keep watching for now.
