A classic among classics, Trigun is definitely as relevant today as it was back then. It's visually stunning and the soundtracks are great, but it's above all the message, which is still as relevant today as ever, that struck me. Fighting to uphold your values and avoid hurting others in a world where this has become the norm is frighteningly relevant, and everyone should follow the example set by the good Vash the Stampede. It's well done and devilishly inspiring! My only criticism would be the somewhat uneven pacing, with the first part dragging on a bit and the second part, which is more interesting, ... rushing through quite a bit, as well as some frankly uneven episodes, but it's still a very good job, well done Madhouse!

What a waste this anime is...

It's not particularly bad, really, apart from the fact that I was terribly bored watching it. I didn't particularly notice any major flaws that would warrant giving it a below-average rating. BUT there is one thing that compels me to write this comment, and that is that the concept of the anime seriously deserved so much better...

With a concept like this, it's criminal to offer nothing more than a bland, dull series where every story has been seen and reviewed 200 times... They could have played on the hotel's morals (which, I remind you, helps any criminal who comes in), ... played on the styles of entertainment or the atmosphere of the episodes, explored the hotel's intentions, the types of criminals (not just good people with tragic pasts). In short, there was definitely potential to create something much more original and refreshing, but instead we have a bland series with characters and plots that are depressingly banal when they're not completely uninteresting.

Truly, a huge disappointment.

I've seen people give this anime a 10/10 rating, and it's not hard to see why. The characters are simple but endearing, the story is relatively gripping, and the anime conveys a truly pleasant positivity that makes you feel good.

My concern is the pace. From the beginning to the end of the series, I felt like the anime was rushing to fit the entire story into its 24 episodes, even if it meant never letting the situations and characters breathe, which poses two major concerns in my opinion. First of all, it lessens the impact of situations. Whether it's a trivial problem at school or ... the death of a loved one, the series glosses over it so quickly (often in half an episode) that it's hard to feel the gravity and importance of the event on Anne and/or the other characters, so it seems less important to us, which leads to the second problem: we feel less connected to the characters, in the sense that we don't feel what they are going through as much as they do, and so we are less affected by what happens to them, which is quite ironic for a series that relies on this. I know that this pacing issue didn't bother everyone, but even without having seen the original (which I recently started watching and which is much better in this regard), I felt that it was moving too fast, causing me to become increasingly detached from the story and its characters.

But don't get me wrong, the series is very good and has some excellent episodes, such as the last one, which sums up the appeal of the series quite well.

In short, it's a very enjoyable series, but it lacks the pace to make it to the next level.

I really hesitated between 6 and 7. Because in itself, the film has a lot of slack in the middle and the characters aren't developed enough for certain scenes to work emotionally (this is probably due to the fact that I've seen the film and not the series).

But what decided me was the idea the creators had of how to tell this story. This film is a found footage anime, and in this case they've completely embraced the idea from A to Z, so we have lots of different types of cameras through which we see the story: the narrator's and heroine's camera, the war ... machines' camera, Saeko's PC webcam, etc.... And each of these devices will have a different image treatment, adapted to that device: the webcam offers a form of rotoscoping that lags a little, the devices have the interface we're familiar with, the cameras on the machines are in inverted color, and so on...

So, technically, the found-footage aspect is magnificently rendered, but it also serves the theme of the role of information and the highlighting of war and dramatic situations in reality. Indeed, if we're talking about the role of these devices in providing a view of these situations, it makes sense to tell the story through them, and that's smart.

And they didn't go at it half-heartedly, because THE big narrative element of the film is only explained by a very, very clever staging technique that suggests the event through the staging without ever explicitly telling you what happened. I'll let you discover, but I think it's by far the best idea in the film.

In short, this is a truly original film, not in what it tells but rather in how it tells it, which just goes to show that it's not what you're going to tell and how original it is that's important, but the idea you come up with to tell it.

At first I wanted to put 5, then I saw the end and I put 3.

Frankly, I'd have liked to have just said nothing, but the story isn't interesting, the characters' motivations are hollow and sometimes completely absent or illogical, the pacing is catastrophic (seriously, was it necessary to have 15 flashbacks and the reminder of a character's past from the previous episode in the final battle? ), the lines of dialogue sound completely haphazard, the direction is sluggish, and the ending is made up of predictable, badly-written twists and elements that are resolved far too easily for the scope it had (seriously, do you ... forgive a chick who wanted to destroy the Earth 2 seconds ago without a care in the world, just because she was lonely?)

Honestly, it wasn't good, I'd have liked it otherwise, but it's far too stuffed with things that don't work for a second for me to give it a higher rating, sorry.

Maybe I'm being a bit harsh with this anime, but it suffers for the comparison with the ones I gave the average to, which were already a bit better.

It's terrible how bored I was and I literally didn't for a single moment feel the slightest involvement in anything in the series: the characters; the script; the animation; everything reeks of incipience, it's bland beyond belief, which means that it provokes absolutely nothing.

The only time I felt anything at all was when I got bored with the semi-incestuous relationship between the hero and Marie (because frankly, it's embarrassing and not crazy).

Honestly, the concept of a ... world where you have to invent magic was intriguing, but pfffff what a bore!

Seriously, it's a miracle I didn't go lower in the ratings, because this season was a terrible disappointment.

And yet we have some of the best moments of the anime, I'm thinking of episode 10 which is just a work of art in its own right, bringing a perfect conclusion to a great character and perfectly handling the shock and drama of the situation.

But alongside such marvels you have absolutely cataclysmic ideas, like seriously, this story around Rouxy is neither done nor done. Of course I saw it coming because it's not subtlety that suffocates the anime, but it's absolutely badly done, whether it's ... the moment of “adultery” that arrives with a completely farted-out justification, the resolution of the problem that's lunar and the ease with which everyone accepts the situation as if nothing had happened, when it's not outright them pushing the character to make this most questionable decision. ...

Frankly, it was the final nail in the anime's coffin, because when you string together a dramatic intensity like that of the 10th episode with a narrative, character development and moral failure like that, it's really enough to put you off the anime (especially when they try to fit it into some sort of Paul legacy, but frankly, you've got to respect people).

In the end, the anime is cool and has some very good qualities, but too many flaws to save the whole thing, what a shame!

Well, what a nice surprise this anime was!

When I launched it, I wasn't expecting much, having only launched it because it came from the Madhouse studio, and in the end I quickly got hooked.

I have to say that it's really well-paced and that the anime is based on the same kind of mechanics as Jimmy's schemes in Better Call Saoul, so of course if it's well done, you just want to follow the development of the story to discover the new tricks this company will dare to try to get richer and richer!
So, frankly, there's not much to criticize about this series, which was ... really worth the money, even if it's clearly not the anime that's been promoted the most this season (just look at some of the gross errors in the subtitles to see that).

I was a little disappointed with season 1, expecting a little more, given the few good ideas the series had to offer. The parodic aspect of the isekai genre was pretty funny at first, and there are a few good ideas (like the murder scene in episode 11), but in the end it's never really used to its full potential. The humor goes round in circles and ends up becoming rather heavy-handed, the deeper ideas are evacuated in 2 minutes by a gag or a plot device, and in the end...well, there's not much left but a quickly distracting anime and a few unexploited buds ... of ideas.

What a shame.

So, frankly, I wasn't too convinced at first. Admittedly, the story itself is pretty cliché and not very original, apart from the heroine's power to fight with animation. But as the anime progresses, especially in the final act, it takes on a whole new dimension. The more the anime progresses, the more catastrophe seems inevitable, and the more you feel it's coming. And frankly, it works very well: the events become heavier, you start to wonder how the situation is going to improve, and the emotional scenes work really well. Honestly, I got the shivers during some of the scenes in the last episodes, which ... really go all the way into the apocalyptic delirium, sometimes to the point of touching me sincerely. a happy ending was fairly predictable given the direction the anime was taking, but it's well done enough to make you get caught up in it and feel fear for the characters.

Beyond that, I like the parallel it draws around the animator who's going to free herself from her source of inspiration by rewriting the work that marked her life. Frankly, it doesn't break any bones, but it does the job and it's pretty interesting.

All in all, Zenshu was a really nice moment, I don't think it will revolutionize the genre or make a mark on the public, but it was well done enough to make me want to start the new episode every week and to get involved in its story, and that's already enough for me!

What's more, it's original enough in certain respects to stand out from the rest of the anime genre, and frankly, it's a fine job.
