This is an Anime I've been looking forward to watching since I read about it: the action taking place in Brazil, chocolate skinned heroine, different characters (you hardly find an anime with latino or afro foreigners playing so many good roles..Let's not speak about some exceptions, for they make the rule true u_u), interesting story...You could get me hooked by less than that, people 8D!

So, where do I start?

The incredible Michiko that I've liked from the beginning to the end? This bombshell has got will, brain, so much guts and naïve feeling of love. The way she's so wild, she knocks and she fights ... back..wow. I wish women with more personality like this would run more often in the Anime stories. Also, I found her funny: she made me smile whenever she's fighting with Hatchin, giving some back to antagonists and ignoring horny guys all the way.

Hatchin? Wouuuuh >_< I luved her. I luv luv luv this character, whether her appearance, her personality or her troublesome relationship with Michiko. She's a responsible fighter for a 10 yrs-old girl. I also liked the fact that she didn't get involved emotionally with the whole father story. Besides, she's cute u_u and even when she is older, she's cuter 8D

The story? Well, a relaxing exotic purpose to stay on the road on a motorcycle, be part of gangs' wars, get involved with other people's life or in the other way, passing by when you could have helped. The story is good even though I felt the writers could have come with better stuff and episodes if they weren't committed to the one-little-story-per-episode. In addition to this, I was expecting the end and it came as I figured it out..I knew the writers wouldn't screw up the scenario just to please happy-endings-moods. Besides, let's face it: an anime showing kids who hold guns and kill, grownups who abuse children in so many ways and people killing each other in the same way they'd say "hello" can't have a clean end O_o.

Michiko e Hatchin sets my motorcycle dream on fire and makes me feel good, either about my life or about the world we're living in. It makes me want to visit dirty Brazil and witness more of the other sides of things ^^. It's a pleasant exotic and original anime with impressing main characters and good homie supporting ones

It’s pretty weird how I struggled to have this anime series, but didn’t give a sh!t about it for three months. Luckily, I had to feed Leïla’s need of Anime and watching stuff, so I remembered the 13-episodes Anime lying quietly somewhere…

Which isn’t weird, however, the fact that I got completely hooked on this tale of tales, a simple non-stop journey with a human-Lain like heroïn and a speaking Motorcycle. This anime is a Must-Watch, whether you like surrealism, philosophy and stuff or not. I feel I could tell Kino’s trips for children in bed, people who wait or any quiet person sitting near and ... who doesn’t give a sh!t about what I may do or say.

When it comes to anime/manga, I usually choose what I want to read/watch: I don’t have time or money to waste on fanservice/commercial/ecchi/hentai/clichés material. So, if I am to watch something, it ought to be original and outstanding…Kino no Tabi had the original layout, the outstanding description. Besides, she reminded me of Lain and she had a Motorcycle: God knows how these two details may make me cheer up for Bush while he’s not even in the campaign for presidence u_u…

The scenario (meaning the story and the way the main characters react to the outside world) was very intuitive: it made me feel like it was written without even thinking. Yet, it’s highly philosophical and discussing ethics in the way I find ethics should be discussed. Kino is constantly confrontated with her own beliefs and disbeliefs:although she may be compassionate, she doesn’t fall from the path she’s drawn to herself and I highly appreciated this about her. Thus, she may be brought to make hard choices without regreting it after. She doesn’t waste time on showing on feelings or defending a sake. She’s just a traveler, a sightseer that wants “to live consciously“. Hermers the motorrad is a smart trick in the scenario: with his annoying questions, he pushes Kino to reveal some of her thoughts and reasons of acting such this or that to the watchers. He’s also a way to discover a long-time relationship along with someone as Kino. The supporting characters are just well-written for the stories they live. This shows my point of view about the smart and well-written scenario.

The Animation focuses more on the landscape than the characters, but it gives such a bright effect. In addition to this, the action is quick and well-done. The soundtrack matches perfectely the atmosphere of the series and there’s nothing more that I like than the ending credits.

Kino No Tabi is a beautiful and philosophical collection of tales, which deals with society issues in a subtil way. It’s a nice opportunity to rebound with humanity, to stop looking at the world in the white/dark glasses and to feel more human.

I loved these series and I think they’ll last on my lap like SE Lain.

The first reason that pushed me to watch Baccano! is the context: the thirties in U.S.A. golden age of crime, Mafia business and Alchemists along the way, immortality plot. It’s more than enough to attract my attention. The second reason is the opening: I’m definitly not into jazz but it’s so good and I love this way of introducing the characters =3.

Which brings me to the maint point of this anime: Characters! Many ones, different stories and goals, each one coming across the others in some way…I loved them all *o*

But the most impressive thing, in my opinion, is the scenario: it’sdefinitly the MUST of ... this Anime: so many sidelines stories connecting in a main one, in a weird narration. I felt like this time, we watchers aren’t taken for some jeks, maybe nuts, but not jerks. The way of telling the story is kind of messy: there’s no chronological order, we jump from a character to another, just like if the storyteller has just remembered a missing fact somewhere. Even though, I still could understand and follow the action (there’s a little come back before the action carries on which enough to connect with the previous facts). Besides, I was hooked with the plot lines: a mix of magic, crime, immortality, alchemists, mafiosi…It’d have been better if I could get to know some characters’ stories better, though: instead of Miria and Isaac long shows -which Icouldn’t find that funny-, maybe some Ladd Russo history or more of Jacuzzi Plot’s tears . In the mean time, I was impressed with the fact that the scenario was well-developped for a 13-episodes Anime.


Despite the bloody scenes and the confusing moments, Baccano! is a pure jewel: nothing of fanservice/commercial/bonanza of the moment, interesting story&characters, impressive scenario and many uncommon miscellenaous things in the Anime world.

Last detail: Baccano! means “mess” or “disorder”, which is quite the case but in a positive way …It reminds me of Harira..
