No, hold the fuck up. Can we talk about how good this material is?
(not your average review, sorry)
Sure the plot isn't anything to write home about but how the author gonna write up such perfect characters with fantastic personalities? The comedy is good enough, it definitely makes you interested in the characters. They're both got possessive problems and that makes a fun combo!
And, sure, this is basically just smut. BUT IT'S GOOD SMUT, OKAY? I know they are kinda girly body types, but it's still good.

healthy way. They might have some damage going on but they own up to it and then get on with it.
Anyway. Not anything like an actual review, but just had to show some love.

I read many series that have no reviews, but this is a rare piece that deserves a pause to write up some thoughts for others. It does not get a perfect score, but it's close!
Story & Characters: 9 || This story has a moderate amount of drama that you would expect, but at EVERY turn it takes the time to unravel the problems and de-escalate issues in a normal and healthy way. A misunderstanding that causes confusion and drama is handled within moments as we see the characters act like actual human beings. solve, and communicate with each other to manage all conflicts they encounter.
(For the love of all that is holy, how is this normal fucking human behaviour so uncommon in stories??)
We even see someone handling their trauma head-on and taking their life into their own hands. Almost all normal tropes we see in a romance (and the horrible ones we see all the time in BL) are presented and swiftly handled. We also have healthy relationship representation alongside realistic intimacy practices. Characters are not exaggerated (except that dick, tho), and most of this story is quite believable and relatable.
I have deducted a point because there's still too much sex for my taste.
If the ex-boyfriend drama wasn't involved, this would be considered a wholesome piece. Good vibes, cute character development, limited drama, silly situations.
Art & Presentation: 8 || I would say this series is just a little above average, but nothing spectacular. It recently launched the official version that cleaned it up and made it better. I give points for more fuller scenes, backgrounds, and even proper background character designs to help everything look more immersive. I deduct points for the stereotypical gigantic dude with a gigantic dick. (Sorry it's not my thing lol)
Overall: 8 || This is a solid read for the BL community! I'm always happy to see any relationships, drama, and intimacy that's handled REALISTICALLY.

HOW has this piece not gotten a review? Well not to worry, I'm here to fix that with my fantastic biased opinion!
This is a shorter story, so no need for a large review.
Story & Characters: 8 || So Farming for Love is a great BL story, but it's selling factor is actually the comedy and the narrator's third-party story input. I had to stop and giggle often, here. Half the time I felt like there was Ben Stein telling us the low-down on these characters while they were actively messing up their lives. Just thinking about it again had me cracking a smile...
Set in

the countryside of South Korea, we have a main character who's opened up a pharmacy to get away from his overworked life in Seoul's big hospital. During his time we learn why he became so stressed, the people he'll meet in this little village, and how he figures out where he'll go from here.
For the characters I do love how we can see them slowly develop, though it's definitely a short manhwa. Not a lot of growth, but it's there.
A bonus, as well, is there are some side stories written later on to expand on the main characters and their relationship, plush a side couple that develops in the story. I give bonus points when stories follow multiple couples/pairings.
Art & Presentation: 7 || This has a generic manhwa feel, so nothing too standout. It's in full black & white, so a lot of us are used to that already. Background visuals are fleshed out and environments look complete. It doesn't have a half-finished feel. For presentation there's nothing that stands out but I do appreciate the full use of horizontal space. Some manhwas are too centered so this one at least creates movement while reading.
Overall: 8 || Wholesome (mostly) and funny read. Endearing. Great time. Just worth it if you're into all these qualities.

I'm surprised this doesn't have a review, yet! I'm so happy to be the first, so let's dive right in.
Short review, spoiler free!
Story & Characters: 8 || A rough western shoot-em-up style story turns into an unexpected romance. The plot is strong and has a good dose of comedic value to keep it from getting too serious. A bounty hunter just needs one last haul to hit his thousandth turn-in, and a 10 million reward. But the target he chose isn't as simple as catch and return, as the target seems to be innocent.
This story felt as if it was the perfect length

and the pacing felt natural. I unfortunately find a lot of stories these days that cannot say the same. Character development is smooth and it's enjoyable to watch the main characters slowly learn and struggle together towards their goal of turning in the bounty (or escaping to their freedom).
Art & Presentation: 9 || Even though Manhwas are, more often than not, all done in color, this one is full grey scale. I was curious about it at first, since it would have been easy enough to just add light tones of browns/orange due to the western setting, but the greyscale along side the artist's particular stroke style makes the whole comic feel rough. But in a good way! None of this looks or feels like it's left as a sketch, but the rough black and white with heavier lines really gives a western vibe (and western comic art style vibe as well).
As with any review, this is my personal take on the art. It's definitely a great fit for this story!
Overall: 9 || I enjoyed this a lot! I'm happy with the length and I didn't feel I wanted/need more. Had some smiles and (honestly) a few blushes. Great all around.

Story & Characters: 8 || Healthy relationship, acceptance, realistic take on cross dressing, and other wonderfully positive attributes to this story. While the story may not feel unique, it has a wonderful way of tackling a subject that can be seen as very grey or negative (cross dressing) without fetishizing it. Kudos to the author, and thank you!
Art & Presentation: 7 || No big takeaway here, but I do like the attention to keep the male lead masculine even while he's dressed in his feminine get-up, without exaggerating to overplay the "I'm a female tee-hee" vibe.
Overall: 8 || This is an easy recommend.

Currently manga isn't finished, but as of the first volume it feels like a great read and I have it marked to check in once it gets more installments.
Story & Characters: 8 || The trope: Big lovey-dovey dog dude Noriyuki doesn't realize he has a crush for the smaller guy. Smaller guy thinks Noriyuki is trying to be intimidating or perhaps bullying him, but realizes there's no actual threat. I liked seeing the characters quickly get over this trope of intimidating larger character instead of dwelling on it like I see often. intimidating, and we see them relax.
So we see a story that puts more time into light hearted comedy. The main character Suguruyu is honestly super relatable. Normal guy, normal problems. Big dog dude is a dork, harmless, and ends up being a very positive and helpful figure which I love to see.
Art & Presentation: 9 || Shiokara has done a great job of conveying emotions in a light-hearted way which is one of my favorite displays of storytelling. I also want to give props for Big dog Noriyuki having this very unique face (especially eyes and mouth shape) which does a great job giving this "I'm curious. I want to ask questions. What's this?" sort of appearance. I'm pretty sure this is why I keep calling him big dog.
Overall: 9 || Again this is an early review, but I really enjoyed this and I am VERY interested in seeing where Shiokara takes the story. I understand I'm having a pretty heavy bias here on this review, perhaps it's a story/character style that's endearing to me.

Finally I find a fantastic piece that dives into the intricacies of BDSM and S&M in a proper way. WITHOUT the smut! Aporia has a tried-and-true romance base of a story but it's biggest difference to all other manwhas is it's ability to properly present what the BDSM world is in it's proper and safest form. The S isn't a rapist. The M isn't letting themselves fall into ruin.

felt to delighted to sink my teeth into a lengthy and full story without being slapped in the face with sex and non-consent.
There was a lot of realistic portrayals of not just BDSM but also the confusion, frustrations, and relationship troubles that go along with it. I applaud the author(s) and artist(s) for doing a delightful work to show folks who may not know of this world in a HEALTHY light.
The only reason I have not given this a 10 is because I feel there could have been more detail and variation in color added into the artwork for showing a more fuller world/setting. Otherwise I find the story and characters to be at a 10.
I hope this story gets more attention, moving forward. I'll be sharing it with people as a proper BDSM romance tale.

Story & Characters: 10 || The author did a fantastic job crating very unique feeling characters and all of them distinguishable from the next. This allows ease of reading, so a huge bonus point from me. We also see a lot of endearing characteristics to go alongside the comedy in the story, so you quickly get pulled into the story and characters. The two main characters have an interesting dynamic and it's incredibly wholesome. There is a lot of silliness with the comedy, but the author never resorts to cheap tactics of non-consensual interactions. (Seriously, thank you!)

enjoy this story without having awkward/weird feelings of forceful affection. Instead, we have innocent emotions, hilarious interactions, wholesome character development, and an overall satisfying story.
Art & Presentation: 9 || One thing that really stands out for me here is the attention to design for each character being special and distinct that helps give the unique feel to each person. I love this, and it never feels forced. Since it's a comedy manga, this actually helps lend to the light-hearted feeling overall. There is gradual art changes that happen alongside the character development to further aid the storytelling. I do not notice this capabilities in many other shounen-ai works. Very enjoyable!!
Overall: 9 || A fantastic piece, and it's not even finished! I've added this a special place to keep up with it as it releases. I'm so delighted to have found it. It's also listed under my "Wholesome Shounen-ai & Yaoi" Interest Stack if you are interested in similar works.

TL;DR: Enjoyable story building, disappointing wrap-up and ending.
SLIGHT spoiler review on this (currently) un-reviewed piece. I will be discussing why I do not recommend but that has to do with the later part of the series. So with that, the breakdown:
Story & Characters: 4 - This story started out with characters than I enjoyed seeing as they learned of their problems, learned about each other, and learned how to tackle it all together. Being able to see people heal is a wonderful thing. I would like to explain why I would give this story and it's parts a 4 when I just said it was

enjoyable. Around the later chapters (roughly the last 30~ chapters) there is a period where the author decides to cause a trauma to a main character, and then portray that character as becoming somewhat mentally unstable. While this is not uncommon in a person, what makes it bad is that the author decided to then normalise the emotional and sometimes physical abuse to the character's partner. The story even wraps up and finishes with the abused partner accepting it and taking it in stride without trying to find a way of healing. Their excuse is such things as "he helped me through all the bad" and "he's really a good person". I don't mind if you wish to write/read a story on an abusive relationship, but if you spent the WHOLE story about healing and finding a comforting place, why would you write in that one of the characters then develops extreme trauma and becomes abusive. And then end it.
Perhaps I am missing something.
Art & Design: 9 - So this is a manwha and we often get to see fantastic coloured works with this piece being no exception. The character design and careful details put in to help show strain and stress help show the stages of trauma and relief in the characters. I also enjoy being able to see characters that look a bit more their age, and not super young or handsome as a lot of comics do. Well done, and no further comments.
Overall: 4 - I will be keeping the score low as I am still quite disappointed in the choice of story direction contradicting itself and trying to show how to accept abuse without trying to heal.
Final (personal) note: Please make sure you remember that abuse comes in different forms. And none of them are okay. Sometimes the person doing the abuse may not be aware or able to heal and become better, but I hope they try and I hope people around them are able to help them try. If you aren't sure about your situation or someone else's who's close to you, talk to people.

Behold a concept of Shakespearean theater mixed with Japanese anime. This was a random pick that I was worried I may not enjoy but I was incredibly delighted to find that Baraou no Souretsu delivers a theater-like environment for it's dramatic storytelling with the hallmarks of anime that we enjoy, and somehow they work in tandem.
An Overview - This felt like it was designed from the original dramatic period pieces I grew up with with all the lords and ladies and drama enough to satisfy the most devout royalty romantics. (I maybe showing my age, with this one.) I believe the majority of the

hate I see for this series is due to the kind of subject and delivery. It's absolutely like the old dramas and movies depicting romantic trysts and useless wars over territories back in the 'olden days' of Europe. But, most folks who would be on this website and partake in anime are probably not the same demographic who enjoys those types of works. So unfortunately we see more distaste rather than praise for Baraou no Souretsu.
However I would say that this story delivers very well the cadence of Shakespearean theater, the still arts using watercolors and thick oil paints, and the fluidity of animation all together for a good performance.
Story & Characters - 7 - Typical pacing for theater-type royalty romantic pieces, character development is suitable and I felt it was fleshed out. Due to the sheer amount of drama, I cannot give this a higher score. While drama is necessary for this type of piece, it's also limiting the ability to be much better. The characters we well designed, and I felt there were enough diversity in personalities and styles without being over the top or unbelievable.
Art & Design - 8 - I already previously touched on this but the directors and artists that put in all their hard work absolutely understood what it meant to keep with the Shakespearean themes. Particularly looking at the oil-based still painting for harsher scenes, or even the water-color-based stills for the more general storytelling or lighter moments. This really brings in a live theater feeling, like how you see scenes designed and placed for the actors on stage or utilize. As well I have noticed the art team chose to go with more sombre colors and not straying too far from natural pallets to allow a more realistic approach, which I absolutely appreciate since we too often see vibrant hues that don't quite belong in the setting they are placed.
Another note to be said about the speech patterns and voice actors and their fantastic use of rhyme to again keep to the olde theater theme. It absolutely keeps you remembering of the theater stage and the art's emotions.
Overall - 8 - I celebrate this piece that brings Shakespearean theater to life through anime. This is unique in it's delivery and unique in it's design. While not perfect, I still greatly enjoyed my time.
