This was not very good as a comedy. if you like absurdist humor that comes from random throwaway lines that introduce serious questions about the flow of the series, you will enjoy about 60% of this quite a lot. Pondering about the entailments is actually really fun for a lot of this. The gags are not very funny, but the world building is so ridiculous, that you might be able to glean a bit of enjoyment from that. The characters are all boring and underdeveloped. The author has a tendency to randomly inform you that character development has occurred rather than characters growing in a ... way that feels natural. The author introduces a major subplot that just.... gets forgotten about. the manga clearly got axed based on the rushed and completely unexplained ending. the plot was mediocre before the ending, but suddenly became very rushed in the last 15ish chapters. The art is cute, but the way it's used is pretty meh. Character expressions, action, panel dynamics, etc is all mediocre, at best. There's also 0 fan service.

So the design is meh. The story is meh. The characters are bad. The humor is mediocre. There's never any payoff for any of the plot points no matter how much they are developed.

No. It should not have ended like that.

This manga is. Very good. The chemistry between all the characters is great. The art is great. The panel design is great. Not just the art, but the motion of the characters is very well done and the panels feel very dynamic. The melodrama and introspection is pretty good. Not the best I've seen. But the story is innovative and does the tone very well. The themes of the story are strong. The drama is great. Nothing too deep in terms of metaphor or allegory or anything like that. But overall. if not for the ending I'd ... have rated this a 9.3. The ending felt forced and unearned. Not rushed. There's just no foreshadowing, no reason that it would end like that. It's quite literally the antithesis of every theme so far. It just has the opposite vibe of the entire rest of the manga. In spite of it being a very well rounded manga, I could just not recommend it in good faith.

This was hard to rate. On one hand, the concept was great; the art design? Phenomenal. Some of the best I've ever seen for this genre. The writing for Anzaki and Makino and the teacher specifically? Actually pretty complex. The author did a great job at giving characters conflicting internal motivations and making them question their motivations. The philosophical stuff about men and women? Pretty good, honestly. The author represented both sides in a way that honestly didn't feel like a strawman and simultaneously showed that women and men are a lot alike. There were even two big twists that were well foreshadowed that I ... liked a lot. All that said, I could not recommend this in good faith. The scattered story with confusing and seemingly haphazard plot completely ruined reading this. This manga should've had 2-3 more volumes so the author could flesh out the plot fully in a way that makes sense. Near the end they were just going much too fast. It's not like the pacing was bad. The pacing made sense for the amount of information we were given. It's that the information given was very little and lots of pretty major plot points were glazed over. Also the ending was genuinely appalling. One of the worst endings I've seen in ages.

This manga is kino. genuine peak fiction. I would rate it a 10/10, however, one simple thing sort of undercuts it. It's hard to tell when flashbacks are occurring, and the chronology in general is a little hard to follow. The introspection of the characters, seeing the same event from different characters' perspectives, without being boring, the symbolism, etc is all 10/10. The art is 8/10 in that it represents the vibe of the manga very well, but I have to deduct points in that the heights of the characters is inconsistent or confusing at times, and objectively the art is not very technically impressive. ... This is not a good manga. By all means. There's too much exposition. The main character is boring and has no real motivation expressed in the first 8 chapters. You could swap out the MC with the MCs of a dozen different manga and the story would be exactly the same. Don't get me started on the FL. Literally just a cookie cutter glow up childhood friend ditzy bakadere. That is genuinely her whole personality, and it can be summed up in a series of buzzwords. She has no real motivations outside of the MC. Same goes for every character. Except for our villain. The ... villain is so ridiculously auralicious, I just cannot stop reading it because of that one character.

It was fine. I've seen the concept of barrier magic OP MC, and I've seen the concept of an OP MC that is obviously necessary but still somehow got banished for some reason, and I've seen the concept of the OP banished MC strolling around and collecting women. The only thing noteworthy about the MC is that he actually cannot use his barrier magic offensively. Usually when a character has a cracked skill that everyone dismisses, it just so happens that the MC's cracked skill can be used for just about anything in universe. That's not how it works here, though. Ohter than that, the ... art is also very good. The design of the MC and other characters is a breath of fresh air compared to the standard shounen art-style. It's a mix between more adult shounen like tokyo ghoul and a seinen. The writing and characters are nothing to write home about, but the dynamics are fine and sensible. "I really want to kill you at some point, but I'm perfectly fine with waiting" allies are really fun when done right. The MC's lack of libido is sort of annoying. Every single character in this story manages to be more interesting than the MC. It's like one punch man.

This is one of the best dungeon, best fantasy, best harem, best yandere manga I've seen to date. It does a lot of things I've seen other manga do as a gimmick, but the way that the plot is written, all these bits just sort of work, and it turns out to be really really appealling. It's basically just a loser gets return by death and tries to escape a dungeon but keeps getting trolled. Usually, when a manga has the main character get trolled, it's almost like fate is trolling him, so it's not really appealing, and it feels like a gimmick. In this ... manga, it's just sort of the characters' personalities that cause them to fuck him over at various points in time. It's really fun, and all the characters have well defined characters. There's a good degree of mistique. I'm really intrigued to keep reading it. For that reason, I'll give this a 9.4. There's room to grow, but I wouldn't say any part of it is bad. One thing that stood out to me is that in the early bit, after the introduction to the concept, the MC is too happy. Every single panel, I'm thinking "What are you happy about? He killed your girl and he's still alive". It's a bit disconcerting, bot it's not exactly bad writing.

The first 10-12 chapters are honestly really boring. The pacing is slow. Nothing interesting really happens. The characters are boring. The plot is boring. The way that the world works is cliche and you've seen it all before. But once I got past that point, I found I just couldn't stop reading. It very quickly became peak. Part of it is because the beginning chapters are much longer than they had any business being in the beginning. But the story very quickly solidifies itself. The characters all have their own distinct personalities, and they each have several personality traits. they have relationships with each other. ... The writing is like a 6 or 7 but the main character and eleonair are just extremely fun and heavily carry it. The story is essentially just a cycle of the MC being like "man I really want more women in my harem", and then he goes and gets more women in his harem, plus like plot stuff. The plot is fine and it servers the vibe of the series. It can be comedic at times, but the author doesn't let comedy slow the plot or ruin dramatic moments. The worldbuilding is a bit forgettable, but once again it serves the vibe of the series well. Enough to be intriguing but not so in your face that it's suffocating.

Once again, an average man gets intimate with a woman that eats people and has to deal with "woman that eats people" shenanigans. There are a few erotic body horror moments which are sort of all this manga has going for it. There just aren't enough to justify reading it. It's overall just meh. Besides the erotic body horror, the art is just good. The character of our MC is sort of boring. He doesn't have many personality traits and his affection towards the FMC is unnatural. The FMC is a fun character but sort of needs a more grounded character to contrast her personality. ... Because the main characters aren't interesting, all of their interactions are also boring. Aside from the secondary female love interest, every other character can pretty much be considered a prop for the story. And she is treated more like a plot device than a character despite her actually being more interesting than the main duo. Overall it's just not an enjoyable read. The erotic eldritch horror was pretty fucking well drawn and if that's what you're looking for, this is it, but otherwise it's just a resounding disappointment.

This manga could literally only be good if the childhood friend character wins in the end. That's why my preliminary is so high. Otherwise it's just mediocre. In fact, if the chldhood friend loses then it's sort of boring because there's like a dozen other manga which have the pretty much the same characters. The art is meh. The melodrama is meh. Yuu-kun is a likeable character but his love for flowers seems a bit compartmentalized. Himari is cute but not absurdly cute. The only thing which really sets this manga apart is that there's no indication whatsoever that the MMC actually has feelings for ... the proposed love interest. Instead, it would appear that he has more pronounced feelings for the childhood friend, which might make this an interesting drama. If nothing else, the suspense makes this actually sort of interesting.
