This perfectly fine movie about learning to grow up even as time passes you by lacks any of the intrigue or answers that the premise seems to entail. The idea of waking up in the middle of the ocean, floating in an abandoned apartment complex is a great start. The problem is they don't really explain what even happened. There's some implication that Noppo, a human-representation(?) of the building was clinging to the happiness of the two children, but that lessens the intended message. It's clearly about being able to continue to live even as things change. The visuals carry the latter half of this ...

This one is alright.

I can't say that it's a great show, because it's not. It's fairly run of the mill in terms of a romance comedy, but sometimes that is enough. I was recommended this show through a female friend who absolutely adored it, and while it wasn't my favorite, I could see why she would love it. I recommended Toradora to her in exchange, which she enjoyed greatly. There are good gags, like the repetition of the vice student council member being a bit promiscuous and flirtatious (generally gay) after being kissed. Funny.

Aside from that? I don't really know. Not groundbreaking, not terrible. Would ...

Don't let the strange title deceive you. This show is a beautiful story on grief, the acceptance of loss, and the fragility of life. Very few shows make me cry, and fewer make me cry multiple times. This show made me cry 6 times throughout. It is a genuine tearjerker.

When a man loses his wife to a tragic accident, he and his daughter fall into a deep depression, only ailed when a child, passing their house, claims to be the deceased woman reincarnated.

The plot follows the family's efforts to make up for lost time, but also delves into abusive parents, relationships, and a complicated struggle ...

A gag manga, plain and simple fun! Until it isn't!

While it seems like the bit would run stale quickly, the art style really compliments the hilarity of the situation. Additionally, I enjoy reading various ways that they try to skirt the boundaries of what's allowed, but also if the consequences of such a seemingly hilarious but ultimately tragic supe
rnatural phenomenon.

The characterization of the father makes it a big hard to like him, but he redeems himself in his funny reactions. In a way, it is a nightmare scenario. They will never truly be able to enjoy a normal livelihood ever again thanks to the ...

Immediately after I finished reading it for the first time, I wanted to start all over again. I absolutely love this 4koma!

A shoulder above the rest in terms of quality, humor, and character as the seemingly mundane day-to-day is made intriguing, entirely facilitated by the character writing. The star is the titled "Gorilla", who comes to terms with his relationship with his brother as a grounding force in his life. This is co-opted by his arc of maturing, and the relationship he develops with his niece. The two have a dynamic similar to bickering siblings, but eventually (even if she doesn't want to admit ...

Toradora! (Anime) add

goated show
spoilers clearly!!!
There's something really great about Toradora that I can't quite let go of. I find the nature between the two main characters to be more natural than anything alike to it, as their chemistry seems unforced and organic. The buildup for their relationships, which are subverted as they come to realize their affection towards one another is not done anywhere else better. This is the prime example.
Basically, a perfect romcom that does everything right, has made me want more without feeling like it's inconclusive, and has absolutely kept itself in my mind even as I watch more shows and read more manga.

Usagi Drop (Anime) add
This is one of my favorite shows I've watched, and it's simply because the story is unique and the characters are endearing. Every second with these characters makes me want to spend more and more time learning about them, and their found family dynamic as they learn to be together is adorable. God, this whole show is adorable. It doesn't cut corners on a lot of the stress of being a parent and it shows how our MC has to adapt to taking care of this new person in his life.
The show also has an art style that's soft and easy on the eyes, and ...

Felt like I was missing what everyone else was seeing. The characters are good, but the story ends very suddenly and without a solid conclusion. Many say that you should read the manga after finishing, but I don't understand why I should rate the show well if it doesn't stand as a finished product on its own merit. It's very pretty and colorful, but it is very held back. I like MOST of the characters but feel as though I don't get attached to any of them, or the MC.
6/10. Not the worst I've seen, but unsatisfying which makes it more painful.

A fun romp. Don't go in expecting much of a story. It's definitely more about the characters interacting and the wacky scenarios. Has a lot of great moments and Umaru is hilarious. They manage to make you sympathetic to her brother while also making her super silly to the point you can't actually hate her.

My favorite character is Sylphine. Steals any scene she's in. Her dynamic with Umaru as a classmate vs UMR as a mentor figure really helps to develop her character by the end of the show.

I actually like the dub for this show too. It's not half bad.

Hands down the funniest anime I've watched. Something about the characters in this show really works and there's no points where I feel like any of them are unnecessary or irrelevant.

Osaka and Chiyo are a great comedic pairing, and Tomo is a delight whenever she's on screen. Yomi works as a straight man to most of the antics, while Sakaki is easily my favorite. Her running gag and simple desire to just be near cats (while they hate her) is my favorite part of the entire show. Kagura's pretty great, like her a lot too.

Best characters are, however, the teachers. Either one. They steal the ...
