Gooner Terrorism Show (bare with me), that tackles the worrying rise of modern fascism and poor sex education; the idea that minors have a purity incompatible with (obviously, dirty humour, but also,) say, queer identities or consent, is clearly very, very stupid. A compelling tale about censorship, with a dash of commentary on ancestral sin. Funnier than Konosuba. More politically compelling than Code Geass. I hope this description hasn't been too enticing thus far because this shit sucks ass.

Let me be real. I know why I'm not a huge fan of this. While the show is entertaining enough, the jokes, more often than not, aren't ... funny, almost every appearance of Anna's character completely derails the show, the writer's undisguised femdom fetish makes it even harder to stomach the fanservice, and although conceptually I'm a fan, I don't think it fully lands the plane. What baffles me is how the target audience doesn't either; is everyone as much of a prude as the anime suggests?

Do they only want female sexuality when it's purely for the male gaze (see: food wars, no game no life, jobless reincarnation, all overtly for young straight men, all with significantly higher ratings than i.e. kakegurui, despite the fact they all need to be erased from planet earth) - women having no agency, only existing to be oogled at and fawned over? Is this actually a meta story that invites the viewer to really think about how this makes them uncomfortable? WHY this makes them uncomfortable? Should I just give up now??? The answer to all these questions... is yes.
