Yu☆Gi☆Oh! Duel Monsters GX

Arguably the Yu-Gi-Oh series closest in tone; slice-of-life interspersed with trouble from magical card spirits. Both Sakura and Judai/Jaden even have short brown hair, green eyes, and a friendly rivalry with an arrogant black haired butt-of-jokes who gets turned down by the main love interest and who are the funniest characters in their respective shows (Meiling and Jun/The Chazz).

Yu☆Gi☆Oh! Duel Monsters

Both shows came out close to each other and star initially timid characters who gain magical card-based powers, complete with transformation sequence, after finding an ancient mythological artifact (yes, "I'm really good at playing card games!" counts as a magical power). Both have four-person friend groups who go on adventures together, and could be considered girl/boy versions of each other, though a lot of people watch both.

Acro Trip

Another gag manga adaptation starring a hapless male lead with a mysterious, but goofy villainous past played for laughs, and who ultimately wants to make the major female characters in his life happy (i.e. Chroma and his "disciple" Chizuko and "archenemy" Berry Blossom, Tatsu and his wife Miku).
