The first important distinction to mention about the title is that Yandere, in this instance, is formed from Yankee + Dere. The female protagonist is a delinquent, not a yandere character. Another review already mentions this but it's good to provide for a potential reader asap
This is a good manga, not amazing, not bad, just cruising, which is quite a feat to do because the art in this is... bad. It looks like someone drew anime in microsoft paint, there's no two ways about it, it's bad.

An idiotic mixture of gooning and comedy blended so well that I can crown this as one of the pinnacle pieces and best modern day (2025) works that manage to edge around the line of a comedy that goes too far but still manages to stay within the borders of reason.
Totally unexpectedly, the manga manages to tie an actual story and plot around a miasma of perversion without it feeling cheap, sloppy or a hastily put together pile of slop. TL;DR A great concept to start with, yet ends axed and rushed in a way that offers more disappointment than release.
The art is great, the base plot of getting acquainted with a rapidly evolving AI is not unlike Her (2013) starring Joaquin Phoenix. The story quickly develops into AI critique, heavy sci-fi elements like hacking and controlling humans through soundwaves, electric impulses, after which it immediately falls flat on its back. Without spoiling, the ending is rushed, includes a time skip and rolls credits where the MC doesn't "get the girl". At least this work can't be judged to be overtly generic, it's pretty unique. |
