Akuyaku Reijou nano de Last Boss wo Kattemimashita has many similarities with Otome Game no Hametsu Flag shika Nai Akuyaku Reijou ni Tensei shiteshimatta... in the opening scene: both have to start with the role of the female villain, who in the otome game is always in opposition to the female protagonist of the otome game.
Usually with this scene, I would imagine a story with characters that will have many conflicts and contradictions, and the main character will be able to confront the female protagonist in the other otome game. At this point, Akuyaku Reijou nano de Last Boss wo Kattemimashita has
...
more similarities than imagined, and maybe it is that the two anime have gone on two very different paths.
In the case of Otome Game no Hametsu Flag shika Nai Akuyaku Reijou ni Tensei shiteshimatta..., Catarina is a silly, innocent girl with that personality trait that accidentally makes other characters escape their fate. This is a light story and creates a comfortable feeling for the viewer, but partly because of that, the plot is somewhat too predictable and lacks depth. As for Akuyaku Reijou nano de Last Boss wo Kattemimashita, although it was true to my initial expectations, there were many conflicts happening around Aileen and Lilia, but the way it was divided into two opposing sides of good and evil, which is the opposite of what happens in otome games (Aileen and the Demon King are the good side, Lilia is the evil side), makes people feel unnatural and also somewhat more predictable; this point is even more annoying than Otome Game no Hametsu Flag shika Nai Akuyaku Reijou ni Tensei shiteshimatta... The anime even turned Lilia's side into a bunch of idiots; in general, everything bad was blamed on Lilia's side. This is also a point that I appreciate about the anime Shoujo Ai Tensei Oujo to Tensai Reijou no Mahou Kakumei. Tensei Oujo to Tensai Reijou no Mahou Kakumei can build two opposing sides, but not necessarily both sides are bad; each side has a clear purpose and desire to move towards.
Another weakness of Akuyaku Reijou nano de Last Boss wo Kattemimashita is that the plot continues and happens too quickly; there are not many daily life moments, making it difficult to show sympathy or empathy for Aileen. It must be said that it focuses too much on the situation and spends little time on the characters (the kind of dramatic storytelling that I often talk about). Not only is it fast, but sometimes it feels like the important details are a bit sketchy and not really convincing. Even in very important parts, like the demon king being transformed into a beast, there was only a very simple reason. The same goes for the way to save the demon king, tt was only last a few minutes. If necessary, more details could have been given, like why the magician worked for Lilia, why Keith intended to betray him, why Aileen was kidnapped, etc.
Aileen and Claude didn't leave much of an impression on me, except for a few feelings that their personalities were sometimes quite inconsistent. Aileen had both sides of a cunning, knowledgeable personality but sometimes an innocent girl. Maybe it was okay, but the innocence wasn't shown very well. Claude was usually cold because he didn't know how to express his feelings, but after a few parts, he became too "deredere" (maybe this is what girls want to see). But to be honest, most of the romantic scenes in anime aren't romantic at all. But I also had to laugh at the part where Claude advised his younger brother: "Men who only know how to listen will become boring," which was quite meaningless and not suitable for the position of a demon king or an older brother.
The other characters were built to have a plot and be the background for Aileen and Claude. Almond occasionally appeared to deliver news, dance around, and sometimes act as a guinea pig to scare Aileen and Claude. Lombard Isaac was Aileen's best friend, always appearing to get Aileen to say things like, "Luckily I'm not on the enemy side with him," and then do missions. James and the friends he made at school were brought back to the palace after the next part to become knights and servants. The otome female protagonist Lilia was given a bunch of mixed personalities. The Empress Dowager (can't remember a more appropriate name) only has 2 or 3 scenes of this and that prohibition and is said to have captured a magician to maintain her youth and then disappeared in one frame...
But speaking of similarities, this anime seems to have many of the same symptoms as Maou Yusha. The author seems to have a good ability to lead the story coherently, may have knowledge in some areas, but can't create "bright" parts. Sometimes also creates "dangerous" illogical parts (although "Akuyaku Reijou nano de Last Boss wo Kattemimashita" has much less). The romantic parts are boring (from my perspective) or just for girls to watch. It's quite funny to see that the two series have quite close scores: Akuyaku 7.28, Maoyu 7.25.
The soundtrack doesn't remind me much, and the OP is listenable at 8.5. The ending is somewhat listenable, 8.
Some of its good points are that it creates an attractive, engaging, and cohesive plot and details. The dialogues are quite natural, with some knowledge from a few fields added. The animation and drawing are good, and some scenes look nice. Besides, there are also some miscellaneous, silly parts like the dancing animals,... (I just put an ellipsis because I don't remember much; I think there are some more.)

As someone who considers myself a loyal anime fan, I've recently been doubting my ability to evaluate anime. Many new anime I've watched with scores above 7 on MAL have made it into my list of 10/10 shows. However, thanks to Wind Breaker, I've once again been able to verify my anime assessment skills. I'll go through the illogical details in the anime chronologically and provide an overall review.
Wind Breaker - an anime about high school students at a school known as Bofurin who specialize in physically dealing with delinquents to protect Makochi town from troublemakers. Wait, "why is it called Wind Breaker?" - that's ... one of the mysteries that has made me think from the start of watching the anime until now, and it still hasn't been answered. Starting the anime, we follow the main character, Sakura - a newcomer to town. It seems he has a rather serious psychological issue due to being ostracized in the past because of his somewhat strange appearance. Let's pause questioning who his parents are and where they are, and see how the story will use this common anime problem in later developments. Can it surpass the hundreds of other interesting anime that have explored this theme? Suddenly, a group of delinquents appears out of nowhere and harasses a girl. She acts very tough, so perhaps these thugs will get beaten up by her. Unfortunately, that doesn't happen and Sakura has to beat them up instead. Kotoha takes him back and gives him a brief overview of Bofurin. She portrays it as quite an impressive group, which is a somewhat inappropriate introduction - a bit exaggerated and unnatural. Along with that, she still acts dangerous and uses the "you're all alone" viewpoint to assert that he can't succeed in becoming a Bofurin leader. Well, what a sharp, knowledgeable, and full of personality girl. But the thugs from earlier have returned with a larger group, armed and ready to fight. Of course, with the main character's abilities, numbers and cold weapons are just numbers to Sakura, he can completely handle them. But suddenly Kotoha runs out of the shop, causing Sakura to stretch himself to protect her. Where did the smart, sharp girl from a few minutes ago disappear to? Sakura is too good at hostage rescue, he jumps up and kicks the guy holding a knife to Kotoha's throat. I hope if hostage rescue was this simple, the police should watch Wind Breaker to learn this rescue method! Of course, when Sakura no longer has the strength to resist due to protecting Kotoha behind him, Bofurin will come to help. But notably, afterwards Sakura performs an artistic flying kick while a moment ago he couldn't even lift his foot due to injury. Wait, has the psychological story arc ended already? Where are the life-and-death battles with friends to understand the meaning of teamwork, bonding, or the dramas that seem to tear everyone apart, but in the end the main character realizes what's most important? I don't know either, it just ends like that, so abruptly without anything special happening. In the next episode, we meet a new friend, Akihiko. Though Kotoha says he's interesting, I don't find this friend very interesting, though he seems to be a cheerful person. When Kotoha uses the coffee example, I found it interesting. Wait, isn't red the color of ripe coffee cherries? As a Vietnamese person, from one of the world's largest coffee exporting countries, I'll google it... Indeed, unsurprisingly, the color of coffee beans is light green, after roasting they become brown. Dear Kotoha, you'll never know the color of coffee cherries just by seeing the beans! After eating and leaving the shop, Sakura is constantly bothered by locals and given food even though they know he just came out of a restaurant. These actions might be overlooked if not paid attention to, but for me, it's a way of creating characters like NPCs in a game. They love Bofurin excessively, are overly favorable, besides that they don't have a specific personality, they're simply good people, with simple dialogue, predictable reactions, and this will be shown too much in the rest of Wind Breaker. Then, Sakura has to rescue Akihiko again, who just protected a girl from thugs that came out of nowhere. Ignoring the absence of police because that's part of the story setup, but what's wrong with these thugs' brains, who would keep causing trouble in a place protected by Bofurin only to get beaten up? Or is there something wrong with Bofurin's shield that has been protecting the town for two years? I need someone to explain. Okay, okay, I'm still fine, the rest is still okay even though Akihiko's reaction is still a bit exaggerated and unnatural, perhaps due to the studio because a character showing shyness in other anime doesn't give me that feeling. After a brawl with Sugishita, suddenly everyone in the class is led on patrol. I thought it would be classroom learning, but I haven't even seen a teacher's face yet, it makes me question my common sense about high school. Besides, it gives me the feeling that the author couldn't think of a better way to create the situation. Then, an unexpected situation occurs leading to conflict with Shishitoren. The members of Shishitoren create an unpleasant feeling, but not too impressive. We'll meet the leader Umemiya right away to report the problem with Shishitoren. What did Umemiya say, fists are the way of conversation from primitive times? Does he have evidence, and even encourages using it? If I believe him, I might understand that waiters, doctors, teachers also need to apply it to their customers, patients and students?! After the not-so-engaging conversation, Shishitoren arrived and made some Bofurin members face-plant. Again some fairly normal exchanges between the two sides, they lead to the decision to fight in pairs and there are 5 pairs. This will be the main part determining Wind Breaker's level, I will focus on following and giving an assessment. Unfortunately, Shishitoren, those who pursue strength are just a name, except for Chouji and Togame, the rest are too weak, not enough to set the stage for Bofurin. Besides, the anime still tries to cram in how Bofurin members are inspired by Sakura, even though he hasn't even done anything worthy of inspiring them or the person sitting in front of the screen. This attempt to create the image of Bofurin characters in this way doesn't create the impression that they are wonderful people but instead makes viewers think "What's so good about them that they're constantly praised like that?". A method that seems opposite but has similar harmful effects to creating NPC side characters I mentioned above. With the flashbacks also not very impressive about why Shishitoren was corrupted, it's simply because Chouji was bored and Togame wanted to keep Chouji as Shishitoren's symbol and follow Chouji's misguided principles. This is a fatal point, with the part that should have been performed most excellently for an action anime, Wind Breaker couldn't bring any bright spot. All the battles take place without bringing surprises, the developments are completely controlled by how the stronger side wishes. If in other anime, it would probably be classic comeback scenes when the good side is pushed into a difficult situation and they have to overcome adversity. Even when the opponent is touched by their spirit, will, ... they will still give their all for the fight. That's also why I sympathize a lot with Sakura, Togame didn't need to pretend to lose, partly because it doesn't bring any meaning. If there's nothing too special in the remaining episodes, I've already decided on the score for Wind Breaker. After an unremarkable eating episode, the main characters return to the classroom and become the center of conversation. They talk with Tsugeura then go to his shop. Then they meet Kiryuu leading a girlfriend into the shop to avoid a group of thugs from who knows where?! Really, the third time still with the same setting. These thugs are like monsters in RPG games, just walking and suddenly appearing out of thin air. If it were in a game, I might be quite happy, unfortunately this is in an anime. And so these talented thugs get beaten up by the main characters again. After arriving at school and not studying anything as usual, they follow the habit once again of patrolling around town. Ah there it is, an NPC old lady needs help, let's go talk to her. She lost something, but somehow the main characters misunderstood it as a child. And called the whole class to search, but in the end no one came. Anyway, everyone is free, and even gathered the upper class to search for a cat, so it's not really necessary. In the final episode, we again have the opportunity to see a new group of villains, they look quite dangerous with full-body outfits that are quite different, especially in the middle of spring when the weather can sometimes be quite hot, I'm a bit worried about the health of this group when having to wear them. After seeing Anzai lying bleeding in the alley, no one called an ambulance but they called him to wake up, and he could actually wake up. Then the NPC uncle gave Sakura's group free food again, he was even careful to give extra food to take home. Although they tried to ask Anzai, he wouldn't say anything, so what to do? A childhood friend suddenly appears, Sakura takes advantage of it and learns the story behind. Goodbye childhood friend, your mission is complete, we will likely not see you again. Here we see the face of that dangerous group. So what dangerous activities do they have with each person wearing such fancy and complete uniforms? They turn out to be just a group of students gathering to steal, bully each other. Then why prepare such complete, beautiful, clean uniforms, ran out of clothes to wear? Why not use the money for making uniforms for entertainment, wouldn't that be more reasonable? And part 1 ends here, if you want to know the next part, we have to wait for the next season. In summary, Wind Breaker is an anime that lacks logic in many situations, the overall content is not excellent, lacks highlights, lacks situation building, the supporting characters are like NPCs in games, dialogue and situations are normal and predictable. The graphics or action scenes are also quite ordinary, if compared I feel it's only on par with season 2 of One Punch Man. The soundtrack is also ordinary, anyway I only consider soundtrack as part of the anime score evaluation when it's too bad. I will give it a score of 8 (in my list, 8 means boring, illogical, lack of bright spots or has major flaws to deduct points). My expected score for Wind Breaker on MAL is 7.05.
