I'll admit the first half is a very different tone from 0079 and Zeta Gundam, ZZ Gundam is a lot more lighthearted and comedy focused. I'm not really a fan of older comedy anime but trust me when I say the second half of the series more than makes up for the beginning. Around episode 20 or so the tone becomes a little more serious and the major overarching plot of Gundam starts moving forward again. Some of the best moments moments in Gundam are there in my opinion.

Idk why this has such a low score, the idea of this show is so great, follow Zeon soldiers being hunted down by the recently deployed Gundams. The horror at how much stronger this one mobile suit is than whole platoons of Zakus, the helplessness of a war so quickly being turned around, it's a borderline horror anime. The animation is also incredibly amazing, it's CG but the mech and millitary fights are some of the best looking and directed in the entire Gundam franchise. This show deserves more than a 6.5 average.

Lackluster adaptation of a great book series. This anime adapts it's source material at such a fast pace that all the nuance and character moments are lost. The first Boogiepop book was full of inner dialogue and had 6 different narrators that saw a central event through different lenses. The beauty of Boogiepop is learning about these narrators and how they view life and what they think is "normal" and then seeing how they react to supernatural occurrences.
