This series has the potential to be a complex and extremely serious political drama and I assume it's aiming at that too, the topic is genocide and racial nationalism, so you know the stake is high. But, what I find most unpleasant is the story's shift of tones and like someone already mentioned, inconsequential events.

I would give that by the end of episode 3, we have seen some of the frustrating things from the start finally explored in the conflict between the naive of our main character and the suffering of 86. But soon this turned into a semi-slice of life-esque for half episode ... 4 where the only lesson our handler learned was that she was quite a bit rude and then every return back to that casual anime dialogue when she talks to the squad again and by the post-credit, we assume they are already anime friends once more. Not all dictatorship is the same, some are more benevolent than the other, so I won't discuss the fact that she just went in front of the students and do a full dissident speech and received no punishment whatsoever in the slightest, but it's frustrating that they brought up the conflict we waited so long to bring out that is Lena's nativity to opposing A RACIST REGIME CURRENTLY PRACTICING GENOCIDE and only to solve that in a most dodging it way possible that everybody happily cheerily dances in a circle.

Regardless, this show has some interesting premiere, nice CG and good soundtracks even if it's not that well used as other projects that Hiroyuki Sawano was in. Only 4 episodes in so I won't make a premature harsh criticism, but it currently is a bit short to wooing me, so we will see.

ACCA-13 is without saying a very underrated series, more people know about its OP than the series itself, which is a shame. This series is one of a few anime series that quite possible to say is "mature".

it has no ridiculous otaku-baiting cheap tricks, no outrageously stupid plots to accompany shut-down-brain animation-flexing, no excessive gorefest that just screams edgy, best of all? You won't have to suffer the usual obnoxious anime noises in the voice-acting.

If any series deserves a Netflix adaptation, it's this one. But one must admit the series is a slow burn, despite its short duration concluded the story neatly, however, it ... has flaws as well, the story's stakes are quite too small even with the coup and the ending is too neatly goody happily-ever-after twist that made everything kinda went nowhere, that disappointed me greatly when I first watched it as well. But I must say, rarely a dragging slow drama can hold me interested on the edge of my seat this long.

So: 8/10 - a hidden gem

Why i hate it:
As a gamer who has played more than a hundred games(including real MMO) in my life this anime gave me AIDS and cancer at the same time and as many has stated this anime lack of character development,pointless characters and have stupid plot.I mean Kayaba !! what is his motive ? "oh i forgot it" seem legit. At least a classic mass murder clickché story would be great too compare to that and yea that ALO arc sooo cancerous that even fans cant defend it ?
Why i (less) Hate it:
Out of all the bad writing there is still something great ... after all.The animation and soundtrack is indeed good .The music managed to make me "feel" a bit for some emotional scene and hype up for the actions (but didnt last long when the dreadful writing drag you down again)
