This anime adaptation of the Tomoyo is really bad, there is no sugar coating it. It starts with them already together. It gives no reason for me to want them to be together in the first place and never does. This makes everything that happens in the episode completely weightless and boring. I don't care about what happens to them because I have been given no reason to. "You should feel sad for the couple being torn apart" why?

This little slice of life gem seems to be quite overhated based on the score and reviews. The anime has a simple slice of life premise of 3 high school girls getting into various awkward or amusing situations. The gimmick is that there is no dialogue. Each episode is 3 minutes long and doesn't waste any of that short time.
Joshikausei is lewd, but it isn't super raunchy and is often mixed with slice of life wholesomeness. A common criticism is that it could use some dialogue, but dialogue would take away from the chill vibe that this anime provides and would make some of its ...

Violet Evergarden is so close to being a masterpiece. The visuals are breathtaking, the characters and dialogue are superbly well-written and the premise is executed to near perfection. Despite what the top reviewer has to say, it's okay for the premise to do heavy lifting as long as it is well executed and premises like the one in Violet Evergarden are by no means easy to execute.

I get why this anime isn't universally beloved, but I seriously don't understand why it gets so much hate. Maybe I was just in the perfect mood to watch it, but i found it to be very enjoyable despite it's downsides. It has a better than average soundtrack and about what you would expect from the genre as far a animation goes.
What makes it really great to me is that the jokes are few, but often times they hit like a ton of bricks and they are extremely memorable. I doubt anybody who ever watched this show is going to forget that scene inspired ... |
