Back in 2022, I told myself a million times I would watch the rebuild movies. It's now 2025 close to 2026 and now I finally watched 1.0 or Jo. This really isn't much of a review without bringing up the original Neon Genesis Evangelion series because it's literally a reanimation of the first 6 episodes. In fact, I'd argue the movie is slightly worse because of the fact of how tight they had to squeeze in the content in only 1 hour and 41 minutes. Still though, the animation obviously is better and the action is damn cool.

Now, the strengths that made NGE great was ... it's mystique and lore. We were pretty much left in the dark in the first 6 episodes and now looking back it's all interesting especially watching it again from the beginning. With all the knowledge though, this movie prioritizes on action and strategic planning rather than the dynamics and character which is the magic that made NGE great. The pacing here is also sort of an issue given how everything happens all at once except for the fights. The fights were crazy though and the Angels are so damn cool. Still a good movie, will watch the next rebuild movies next year.

Holy molly, this show had me on its rockers. It reminded me a lot like Bleach and honestly wouldn't be surprised if this was influenced by it. A major difference being the main hero had to work his way up the ranks with many disadvantages. A competent and comradry rival that actually keeps up. There's a lot of this show that I enjoy from the characters, story and powers. I'm excited for the next season which is confirmed to be next year.

Let's talk about what Black Clover excells at. Memorable side characters jumps out as this show makes characters like the Black Bulls especially stand ... out but also other notables like the magic knights from different squads or even the captains. Particularly from the Golden Dawn or Crimson Lions but point is, a lot of those side characters aren't bland at all and you pretty much remember most of them. The unique display of teamwork here is also amazing because it doesn't display Asta as like leagues above. They actually use him in strategic ways especially with his squad mates. This can go for many characters but the introduction of "combo magic" is really forward thinking. I also like the different levels of powers and how it applies to the real world. Things like space, time, gravity etc.

The problems that I have with this show, which given by the many reviews, I share with is the pacing. The pacing is inconsistent which is odd because there barely is filler. The elves arc really didn't need to take almost 100 episodes which ate up majority of the season. The Black Bulls also got a ridiculous amount of screen time which is fine until you realise how secretly powerful the Golden Dawn really are. We could've gotten more out of them especially with Yuno. Those problems are not too major to make this bad at all. Overall, still a great anime with boatloads of potential.

Revisiting this series once again took me back as I remembered why I enjoyed this anime so much. It's just so beautifully designed, engaging story and likable characters. While the movie is in its own pace and direction, it certainly didn't take away the strengths the anime had. In fact I'd argue that the movie could easily be plugged in to the series as canon.

Aside from that, I still don't think the movie is perfect by any means. I do appreciate the somewhat psychological/horror in it, it still doesn't peak my interests. The story also isn't that memorable compared to the ones showed in ... the anime, I also was more mesmerized with the shifting environments and how cool it looked. Still a great movie and another win for the Clamp group.

Just an average goofy special that isn't even that funny. It's even strange to be even reviewing this because it obviously isn't meant to be taken serious. Even looking at it is a fun episode, I mean I guess you could look it that way...? They still could've done so much with how vast the world of Black Clover is. Also massive opportunity wasted for not showing Julius more. He is still a cool character.

Also I'm writing this as I'm currently in episode 161 so everything here is just subtle foreshadowing (especially with the masks lol) but I won't go onto too much detail.

There's so much about this movie that I enjoyed that I'm actually glad this got the praise it got. It may seem just bland at first but it's actually really emotional and pretty heartbreaking. While it obviously ended in a good note, these two trying to understand each other is just so realistic in the world today. The constant awkwardness between them which made so much sense too and I'm glad they were vulnerable in their own way.

The characters all show out including Mai and the librarian. I did get shocked when Tsuneo had the accident and I really did believe he was out disabled ... just like Josee. Obviously he regained his ability to walk but him going through all certainly made him a better character. He realized his dream all along was being the caretaker in the end. The allegory with the Little Mermaid is also fantastic because it really fits with the whole context well. Overall fantastic film with great art and memorable story.

One of the few animes I've watched back in 2018 and can't really remember much about it. I don't even know if I finished it or not. Glad to return it to complete it and I can't say I was satisfied. This anime gets really boring quick and the lore gets so all over the place. It has it's moments for sure but struggles to get memorable.

The anime starts off harmless with MC gets in trouble with girls in an all girl school. The typical harem but with an unusually feminine male MC. It starts off calm but keep hinting at a more darker tone ... and soon enough we get it. Although relatively unimportant as it's unrelated to the bigger conflict. The internal discussions between royalty keep flip flopping that just take away that mystery of the MC. What's the deal with his past? His brother? What was the Former Empire like? Then we get the harem which is fine, even the side girls are no problem at all. They make it somewhat worthwhile but no good in doing any meaningful romances. It's especially awkward with Lisha and Krulcifer. Overall the anime isn't bad but it isn't good. You definitely shouldn't watch it.

Before I start the review, let me just say that this is the only anime where I listen to the intro and the outro for all episodes. It's just amazing hearing the dark menacing intro song then we have the emotional outro song. Gungrave is one of those animes where you just want more of. It provides so much quality that you're confused on why it isn't all that known.

Sure the anime is based on a PS2 video game but the story is so good to not be memorable. The rise and fall of two best friends climbing to the top with a side of ... dystopian and Sci-Fi on it. Both Harry and Brandon are excellent main characters in this story and have such a great dynamic. The story of Millenion and how it's so crucial to both of their lives are told so well. I just wish the big fights were more competitive to be honest. The ending is phenomenal too with both sides realising they still are best friends even when they are enemies. It's sad, epic and incredible. Honestly just Cowboy Bebop but with betrayal, selling your soul and the power of friendship.

This OVA episode clearly takes place before Ayumi's sudden death and it honestly should've been included in the main series. The ability wielders the group comes across are arrogant and greedy but Iori here is the complete opposite. She's afraid of her newfound ability and doesn't use her power for selfish reasons. She's actually scared of her power which could be realistic in some scenarios.

Obviously this episode doesn't just focus on her. The dynamic between Tomari and Yuu develop here as well, looking platonic. Obviously if you've finished the original series, you know it developed into something deeper but I'm glad they showed the ... relationship more rather than the occasional insults to cutaways. A bittersweet ending too to cap it off. I'll miss Charlotte.

This anime is a real tearjerker but a good watch all the way. I honestly did not expect this to be that sad. The first few episodes felt calm and honestly satirical of this concept. Elementary school children having half-assed supernatural abilities doing mystery hunts? That felt like the premise until we get more lore and tragic events start to take place. The most notable one is the death of Ayumi which shifted the entire series to a much more darker tone.

It was abrupt even for me but it felt realistic. I mean who wouldn't be provoked in harnessing this power? A power that is ... obtained by the young. I'm grateful we got this because it got really unique and interesting throughout. Sure it was cramped but the comedy part felt lacking anyways. It obviously wasn't pleasant to see conflict happening but it was expected given that these are the supernatural. The ending I have no quarrels with at all because it made sense. If everything had to be done as quick as possible, it had to be in the most excruciating and bittersweet way possible. The romance between Tomori and Yuu felt weird anyways so we weren't missing out on that, they felt more like close partners in crime. Overall, a recommended short watch for Drama anime seekers.

My thoughts are really conflicting. Kaichou wa Maid-sama is an anime that I've been wanting to finish. I remember watching this years ago and thinking about how unique the dynamic was. I can't quite remember why I stopped watching but now I did and it's certainly not how I remembered. This anime is known for the two main characters, Usui and Ayuzawa, above all. In fact, they carry the series heavy.

The "perverted stalker alien" Usui is memorable for a reason. He does act in ways many people cannot. He's also portrayed as amazing. Ayuzawa is different, she's actually despised by the guys but glorified by ... the girls with her Tsundere attitude. This anime does show how gorgeous these characters really are. You can't really escape it, even when they're wrenched in water or wearing costumes. They're pretty much the stars of the show. The attention to detail is also spectacular here in displaying the emotions of the characters. It's also sometimes comedic in how creative it is.

My gripes with this anime is how dull the story is. I feel it's rinsed and repeat every episode. I obviously know this wasn't intended to be a drama rom com style but they sure made everyone else uninteresting as hell. The villains, moron trio and even her maid friends were subpar at best. The series truly got interesting when Shinata was introduced which then we got more of a backstory. By that time the development between Usui and Ayuzawa developed but it was short-lived. I still think it's solid but not good enough for me. I do think it's just not for me.
