This show is the 8th wonder of the human race... I'm genuinely in awe that it was made. 🤣 The show only has 90 second episodes, and 30 of those seconds are for the EDs (There's 5 different EDs). The first episode wasn't even finished, so it's just a bunch of squiggly lines while the voice actors admire their lord and savor Kenjirou Tsuda. 🤣🤣🤣 You can tell that this show was made for Kenjirou Tsuda and his fans. Everything, the music, the animation, the story, and voice acting, give focus and spotlight to "Middle" who is the character Kenjirou Tsuda voices. This show was
...
made for and by Kenjirou Tusda fans.
The animation is minimal except for a few episode, but it has a cute art style and some cute animations. The last 3 episodes were loaded with sakuga animation. That animation was genuinely amazing.
The music is really good and contributes to how goofy the show is.
The comedy is on point. The best anime episode ever made, episode 7, makes an absolutely hilarious satire joke.
All in all, it's an easy 10/10. Kenjirou Tsuda said things and I laughed... a lot. 🤣

This was actually pretty good. It's nothing crazy, but it definitely isn't bad.
The story is surprisingly creative. I really wasn't expecting anything, but I was impressed by the story. It's intentionally loose to allow for AI jank. The worldbuilding is such that AI jank can happen and that's just a thing like magic in a fantasy world, you know? The way the story handled the jank stuff toward the end was pretty interesting.
The characters are fun moe girls. I liked their voice acting a lot. The characters didn't have a lot of depth because the story is so short. I did like the twist
...
with one of them towards the end. I wish they went deeper on that. There was some potential there. Why does the one girl use the computer? Is their sister gone? Stuff like that would've been interesting to dive into.
I liked the idol dances at the end. They weren't crazy good, but they weren't bad either. The music was great, though. Loved the songs.
Animation was weird. Lots of shortcuts. A few still frames and lots of backgrounds without any frames. It seems like the animators had a hard time figuring out the AI animation so only a handful of good animations got put into the final product. I didn't notice anything bad. You have to pause the anime and squint your eyes to notice issues, but with my casual watch, I didn't notice anything wrong.
I had knew about an earlier draft of one of the dances they do in the end credits... The final version was edited to fix the backgrounds. There is this yellow blur on the windows because the draft I watched on their YouTube account generates trees that show up in the hallways through the windows. The trees don't make sense because they are in a classroom. You can't have trees in the hallway. The final draft made the windows blurred to hide the weird trees, so that's good. There seems to be a lot of effort that went into eliminating stand out problems with the AI.
I consider this a work of art. That is specifically because the story utilizes AI jank as part of the worldbuilding. That takes a humanistic level of artistic understanding to say, "Hey, we are gonna have some weird AI jank... let's incorporate it into the worldbuilding!" I thought the script was artistic with its twists. Yuu Shinada is credited for the script. It's a mixed back to claim that the animation was artistic. The AI animates the in-betweens, but Yousuke Kudou is credited as a Key Animator. That means he layed out all of the animation for the AI to fill in. That means the Key Animation points are artistic (so the positioning of the characters), but the movements of the characters are AI.
Twins Hinahima was better than I thought it would be, but it wasn't that special. We're still a long way away from AI generated animation being high enough quality to replace anime.

Gigguk, you freaking legend. 🤣
"bâan: The Boundary of Adulthood" takes short form storytelling to another level. This short does so many interesting things in 18 minutes. Other artists dream of telling a story this complex in 18 minutes.
I loved the plot. The beginning of the story teases something that comes later in the story. It sets up for this awesome realization where you figure out, "OH! She was going home to her family at the beginning of the movie! Wow!" Stuff like that reminded me of the feeling you get watching a Satoshi Kon movie.
The storytelling was phenomenal. There's so much incredible worldbuilding
...
with this tower that sends people into another world. At the beginning, you also get to see Rinrada's (the female main character) wings and a dragon. I saw Rinrada's wings and was like, "Huh? There are fairies in this world? Cool! 😂" (They're called Euthanians, fyi) I was really interested in the dragon and the portal. I started wondering what else there was to this world.
That was rewarded with these fun snippets of Rinrada trying to smack an alarm clock that magically floats away from her. She also opens a letter with magic, which had amazing animation and was super cool. All these nuggets of interesting magic uses got me excited. I love them so much 🤣.
Towards the middle, the flashback reveals Rinrada's backstory. She is the person who was in charge of taking a dragon egg and raising it. That makes you go, "OOOOOOOOOH! So, at the beginning of the movie she already raised the egg into a dragon and told it to stay on the magical side of the portal while she went to go live on her own!" That was so fun to figure out. Satoshi Kon moment.
I also figured out that the man camping the forest lives in the real world but visits the magical world for fun and to learn about it. That's how he ends up meeting Rinrada when she accepts the egg. Again, such a cool connection.
I liked the story of returning to your home after trying to make it in the adult world. Rinrada's 13 job application rejections are so relatable. 😂 I stopped counting mine after 20. 😅 Seeing her struggle to settle into a new job was, again, super relatable. But the opportunity to return home to her life before adulthood sounds like a dream come true. Adulting is stressful. It was relieving to see Rinrada return home.
And about the animation... This short looks like it's been in production for 2 years. 🤣 (fyi, Gigguk said it took him 2 years to make bâan). When the bugs attacked the Euthanians protecting the dragon, I thought of Solo Leveling when come characters defended themself from an ants invasion. The animation looked really good. I love how the dragon moved across the screen. It's reminiscent of Hayao Miyazaki's flying bug creatures in Nausicaa of the Valley of Wind. It was memorizing the way its individual wings all flew up and down in sync with each other. It's like watching an accordion shrink and stretch. I loved the shot at the end of the short because I got to watch it fly around while with that wonderful sound effect.
Oh, and I haven't mentioned this, but Rinrada falling out of her Hammack looked really good. I also loved the general character art style. Made me think of P.A. Works, which is a studio I love because of their art style. 🤣
Kevin Penkin doing the music is the icing on the cake. Everything he did was so perfect. The music was swoon-worthy and gave me shivers down my spine twice.
I'm not sure if Kevin did this, but the sound when the Euthanians used 3 finger cymbals in each hand sounded amazing. It had this perfect "PIIINGGGGGGGGggggg...." sound. I loved it.
I listened to the Japanese voice acting. It was really good. The 2 stand out moments were the guy yelling at Rinrada over the phone about a broken product and when Rinrada cried after watching her father's video. That line about her dad making more curry than they needed was so poignant.
The short is fabulous. I'm in absolute awe at how brilliant, well executed, beautiful, emotional, and fun it was. If a random youtuber can make something like this, then the sky's the limit. You'd have to pass bâan, though. It almost broke the stratosphere.
Gigguk, you freaking legend. 🤣

The story, characters, music, and animation were all phenomenal. Everything was supported by this wonderful world that had so many interesting avenues of exploring humanity and the living experience.
There are several moments of gorgeous animation that made me feel like the movie was made yesterday. It's a 2014 movie, which is quite early in Japanese CGI animation's history, but the animation is so unbelievably perfect that you can't notice its age. It's incredible how good this movie looks.
There's a solid portion of the movie devoted to explaining the world, but I found it all to be very interesting. The social commentary on late-stage
...
capitalism was poetic.
I loved every character that showed up. Every character had a unique story and some cool moments during various battle scenes.
I'm overwhelmed by how amazing the last 30 minutes of the movie are. It's a visceral experience of pure awesomeness. 10/10, highly recommend.

I really like this show XD
Preface: I did not read the books, but my brother did. I watched it with him and made sure to ask him about the adaptation decisions, so I have a decent understanding of what's happening there.
First off, this show is freaking gorgeous. 🤩 There are so many beautiful displays on the screen that were just BEGGING to be screenshotted. The art team did a phenomenal job creating the wonderful atmospheres and settings for this show.
The animation is impressive. Studio Orange may be a CGI studio, but they are THE CGI studio. They're the studio that was founded by
...
a man that wanted to prove to the world that CGI can look just as good, if not better than, 2D animation. Leviathan's animation does some things that are truly amazing. I'd watch the stand out mecha fights then just sit with my mouth open basking in the awesomeness of the moment. You can really feel it when a mech gets SMASHED by a giant bullet or when it LEAPS over the top of another mech. It was so cool.
There's also some seriously good animation in a few sword fighting scenes. The characters will have little fencing matches that are animated with lots of grace and fluidity. The movements were mesmerizing. I liked how realistic the fencing stances and footwork was. The characters shuffled around like you would see in Olympics matches.
Studio Orange is famous for its brilliant CGI facial expressions. This show had some expressions that I've never seen in an anime before. There were these mild looks of concern and dread that added so much to the story. Those looks of concern are really hard to make in general, but Orange pulls it off constantly despite CGI's notoriously difficult facial animation processes.
All in all, 12/10 animation. Everything they did was spot on and very impressive. There's several moments I can point to and say, "That was amazing." Nobody does it like Orange... Nobody.
The story was interesting. It was adapted from a trilogy of books written by Scott Westernfield. This show trims the stories of each book down to 4 episodes each. While it's easy to find complaints about book-to-film adaptations, my brother understood that the story needed to be trimmed and thought this show did a very good job of it. He said that all of the important story bits were still in the show, but it made time for all these cool visual spectacles in-between. I thought the pacing was very good, as can be proven by the runtimes of each episode. The runtimes vary between 23 and 30 minutes each. This is to make sure each episode feels as good as possible and the story flows and seamlessly as possible. I was very impressed when I watched a 28-minute episode but it felt like another regular 20-minute episode because the story was so engaging. It was a very good adaptation and made for a perfect fast-paced TV show.
I really liked all of the characters. I fell in love with literally every person that appeared on the screen. The only other show I can say that about is BEASTARS, which is another Studio Orange show. 🤣 I love how each character has very defined personalities. They each have their own quirks that make the story more interesting. The main characters were very different from each other, but it made for these great character interactions that were a lot of fun. There was a good villain, too.
God the music in the show... Wow was it so impressive. There are some dramatic moments that were greatly enhanced by the music. There are also some very powerful, heart swooning moments that are carried by beautiful flute music. The ending theme in this show is so perfect. I listened to it every time, and I'm a person that usually skips ending songs to get to the next episode.
I loved everything to do with the sound in this show. There are some very cool sound effects for the mechas and gun fights. You could feel the weight behind every bullet that was shot. That was such a cool feeling and is due to the excellent sound design.
I really can't think of an issue this show has. I enjoyed every episode, I loved all of the characters, the music was phenomenal, the story was as good as it gets for an adaptation like the one they were doing here... it's a perfect TV show. I really don't find any hesitance behind saying that. It really was perfect, and you really should watch it XD

Some mild spoilers for 3 paragraphs. Paragraph 4 has bigger spoilers about the story.
I really like the movie. It was super fun and pleasing to look at and listen to. It has this unique vibe that's hard to explain... It's like sitting on the beach watching kids play in the waves as the sun slowly sets. It's very relaxing and casually engaging with a few interesting things here and there, but it's mostly fluffy fun good times without much to think about. Maybe it's more like laying on a trampoline and staring at clouds as they slowly moved... It was a very unique vibe.
...
The music was very unorthodox, but also very engaging and fun. My attention was snatched by all of the music bits. The instruments and songs were all so unique that it piqued my interest, and I ended up staring the whole time they were playing them. That is quite the compliment, since I was a percussionist in middle school and stood at the back of the band room staring at other people play their instruments for 2 years. To have my attention so grabbed by the instruments and playstyles is very cool.
Another thing related to the music was a concert. Usually with anime concerts, the song plays for a few moments for the audience to get the gist of the song before it fades into the background and the characters talk over the song for this big emotional moment. I was amazed that this movie simply played the music... THE ENTIRE TIME. AND 3 TIMES. I could not believe that I simply watched a concert with all 3 songs fully animated and recorded in the appropriate time lengths for an actual performance. That was surprising, and I felt like I had an authentic experience as an audience member of the concert. It was like I was there with the crowd, which was a very fun feeling.
This movie was overwhelmingly beautiful with its color pallets (Yes, multiple color pallets... they change several times throughout different sections of the story) and extremely detailed/fluid animation. IT WAS FREAKING GORGEOUS. A visual masterpiece throughout the entire thing. Every frame had something that looked really pretty. Science Saru went ham.
I can think of a few shots of animation that are simply some of the best animated shots in history, but they feel like "another shot" because every freaking thing that happened in the movie was so beautiful and well animated. Everything. EVERYTHING.
But the story sucks.
...
😛
*bigger spoilers here*
I loved this movie and really enjoyed it for how well the music and animation was done, but if you think back on the story... There isn't any. 🤷♂️ There were a few moments when the characters talked about something that could develop into some drama or some kind of typical story, but all of those moments were never fulfilled. 2 things that were supposed to be stories were..
1. Kimi not telling her grandma about dropping out of school and being scared to tell her the truth, and
2. Rui wanting to go to college to pursue music instead of taking over the doctor's clinic that the family owns.
Both of those stories were ***technically*** resolved, but with 4 off-hand cuts of animation with no build up and no impact. It was like they slid in the resolution for 5 seconds just to say they did, but it doesn't mean anything, and the audience doesn't care. I barely even registered that it happened. I was like, "Oh yeah, that was supposed to be important, right? Eh, whatever, there's a new cute thing on the screen now. 😊"
and that about sums up my feelings about the story. It was barely there, and the stuff that was barely there was so hollow and pointless that it feels wrong to even call it a story.
This movie is 1000% carried by its aesthetic, not its story. And if that's intentional, then cool. I enjoyed the movie a lot because of its aesthetic and playful nature, but it becomes hard to recommend when there's nothing to explain to a friend with a synopsis.
But the movie was great, and easily one of the most visually-beautiful animated works of art in existence. I'm very happy I have the blu-ray, because it'll be fun to play it now and then to experience how pretty it is. 😊
I'm giving it a 9/10, because I liked it a lot, but there wasn't anything in the story for it to feel amazing or crazy cool. The only things that were amazing were related to the animation, but I feel bad giving a movie a 10/10 for looking good. I really want something in the story to latch onto... but I've got nothing. 🤷♂️ I also felt that the ending was weird and unnecessary. It could've been shorter.

This movie is amazing. It is so emotionally rich, it brought me to tears.
Note: It's very important to watch this movie Dubbed... because the Dub director paid very close attention to translating the Haikus. The Subbed translation loses a lot of the essence of the script with it's almost robotic/word to word translation... rather than capturing the emotional flow of each poem.
Without a good translation of the haikus... the story loses its charm... so experiencing it dubbed is much better.
The story is grounded in feeling empathy. To truely embrace the meaning behind every action, one must consider how the characters are feeling. When you understand
...
their points of view... the meaning behind everything in this movie becomes so much more meaningful and impactful.
So many scenes make you tear up not because a charcter said something sad... but because you know the backstory and personality of the charcter, so you can understand that the situation would be sad to them and no one else. Often, one charcter will start crying and the other characters don't understand why... until they come to understand that charcter's outlook on the situation and it becomes clear to them that that was emotionally painful/sensitive for them.
Visually speaking, this is quite possibly the most stylish anime I have ever seen. The way the animators switched from the Studio Trigger's choppy/sudden movement style in the skateboarding scene to the suttle Kyo-Ani type animation for the rest of the film was so cool. I love how every little movement towards the end of the story has so much detail and beauty... because the audience is starting to realize how important those movements are to the character(Speaking in front of an audience, taking off the mask, taking off their headphones, etc)
And the color is so beautiful... Easily the most praiseworthy aspect of this film. The MC's words bubble up like soda pop... and so do the bright colors in this movie. 😊
It's amazing how many contrasting yet bright colors there are. They all are constantly adding warmth and lightheartedness to the story... only to switch to dark and dreary colors when the tone of the story dies down and becomes sad.
Also, the contrast of warm to dreary colors is simply complimentary to to the story... when the happy times occur during day time, and then intense/tragic moments happen at night or during the sunset.
These light contrasts on the screen are plainly symbolic of the charcter's inner feelings. Think of the characters feelings when the MC sees the street lights come on before the sun's light becomes dim (He is happier than normal)... or when he is running through the dark(Tragic and sad) while Yuki is hopefully filming under the festival lights (Warthm and happiness) with her phone.
It all comes together when the fireworks go off. 🥰🥰🥰
Masterful art direction. Truly incredible.
While this movie may seem like a throwaway movie for audiences expecting obviously emotional messages... It is extremely creative, emotionally impactful, and beautiful in its use of subtle messaging, relying on empathy, and letting small inferences help you to understand the characters better.
9.5/10, and I would love to meet someone who shares this appreciation for this near-masterpiece of a movie.

I think this anime is an absolute must watch. This season of Aggretsuko went away from discussing situations at work to discussing situations out of work. It discusses unemployment, homelessness, no motivation to work or get a job, the whole situation where you need to ask your parents for money when you are almost broke... It just preached about new adults and how their financial situations work. I loved 3 scenes in this anime... they each discussed something related to work as a concept or shoving society on its butt and doing what you want. The show is like, "What is work? Why do we
...
do it? What's the point?" or "Why do I need a full time job? Getting hired is such a hassle. Can't I just work part time forever?" The answers to these questions were so profound that I paused the tv, walked around the house for 10 minutes thinking about it, then went back to the tv and to quote the entire scene on my notes app.
Fanworks has a very unique anime style. I am personally a fan of the style, but besides that you can see some really good upgrades from season 1 to season 5 in animation. There were quite a few panorama scenes or scenes with big zoom outs that were animated well. The music is awesome, as it has been in the previous seasons.
The characters in this season are really fun. They each have their unique quirks or personalities that make for fun character interaction and plot points. I love all the characters in this anime, and it's fun to realize how many of them have really deep and intense character arcs/backstories. Yes, this office place comedy show has characters with deep and intense character arcs. Aggretsuko is just built different.
This show discusses so many societal issues... and even society its self... and has the most amazing dilouge for when it does. God tier script. The overall plot of the story was very good as well. There are like 12 different plot points in a 10 episode anime. It was amazing. I would recommend this show to anyone. Please consider watching it. It's a must watch for the information it gives and the enjoyment I experienced when watching it.

This anime is by far the best I have seen, here's why. This anime makes you appreciate flashbacks. The story uses flashbacks sooooooo well, as it is about reminiscing about each character's past. The animation is incredibly stunning by itself. If you took away everything else and just watched the characters move... it is still so amazing. The music does absolute wonders for this show with its extremely emotional piano chords. The violin accompaniment to the piano made me swoon. I especially loved the animation of moving noodles and steam. Cooking is very cool in most animes... but this anime shines in that department. There's
...
one scene from this shoe that makes me cry just thinking about it. It 's extremely well done and was very emotional. Please give this a watch. You won't regret it.

Fun Star Wars content in an experimental anime. It shows off things that newer anime studios can do. Studio Trigger's episodes "The Elder" and "The Twins" had the best action... Geno Studio's "Lop and Ocho" had the best story by far. Quality heavily varies each episode, so it is hard to rate, but an overall good time regardless. I would rather watch this again than the movies. I highly respect Star Wars for trying out new ways to express their stories and hope they do a full-fledged anime soon. This is also a good anime to get new anime watchers interested in the genre.
