I initially really enjoyed watching this anime, it was a very interesting premise and its not one I hear of often of kemonomimi characters that behave like the animals they are based off. But the anime has many big flaws that affect my final opinion of the show and its overall quality. Nothing gets resolved properly, and it was left open for a second season that was never made, leaving you disappointed and feeling as if you had wasted your time. The show has good humor but it relies too heavily on it and ecchi elements (with the OVA being wasted on a dick joke)

to make up for the poor writing and neglect of any romance or deeper exploration of the character's relationships or goals. If you plan on watching this anime please know that nothing is properly concluded and gets left half-assed, with characters that are introduced but only make a single appearance or concepts that are touched upon but then tossed away and forgotten.
While the writing and the romance elements of the anime are stuck in a death spiral, the humor is quite good. Characters lean into the traits of their species and the show does a good job of making gags, even though sometimes it can be very rapey with jokes about animals in heat. There is not much to say about it, the anime is not terrible by any means but it fails to achieve anything meaningful and is left unfinished, it's like buying an expensive meal that looks great when you're hungry, but then after you're done eating you're left depressed that you spent so much on something so mediocre.
side note: if you think you should read the manga where the anime left off, save yourself the trouble and don't, it shit the bed far worse than the anime did
