Penguin Highway

Penguin Highway is similar to the two anime FLCL and Ponyo. Funny enough, it has that same feeling of not wasting your youth and learning to grow up. The movie builds up its mysterious and fantastical narrative in a really interesting way. It first shows the main character meeting a woman who somehow has the mysterious power to turn objects into penguins, and whose emotions and memories seem to make things appear. I think it reminds me of Ponyo because of the atmosphere and the way it feels like you’re underwater without actually being underwater. And FLCL influences that feeling of growing up and leaving your troubles behind.
