Good luck with assignments. The plot , i think its more about cases than the plot ... its more like episodic then story .
YATTA!!! Stoked to read you had a terrific bday!! ;] THE TUNNEL EFFECT OMG!!! YES AGREED, I feel like the stakes are hardly worth taking seriously after that. Don't get me wrong, still some of the best fight choreography Jump has to offer no doubt, but man they really doubled down on that especially with the chapter with Obachan giving Lu a pressure point pinch in order to get her more easily inebriated. I want sakamoto days going back to being clever, and outrageous with its action instead of relying on asspulls. Which sounds harsher than I meant lol, because I still love it endlessly, but I do wish it had more fun with itself.
KGB keeps me on edge with how often it does the whole: everything's peaceful in this scene, then immediately you turn the page and see everyone decapitated. Which why it makes it so hard to get attached to any character outside of Chihiro of Hakuri, but perhaps that's Hokazono making the series feel more authentic and meta. You can't get attached to anyone in this field of work, because you don't know who's gonna get hit next! (or maybe he's just overflowing with new ideas/characters and doesn't know what to do with the old ones aside from killing them off lol). Either way, it's still crushing it in the art, atmosphere, and world building department.
I think there's alot of great series currently coming out in both Jump/WSJ specifically that don't rely on the hitman or exorcist stuff. There's crazy, over the top stuff like Ping Pong Peril that has the same type of absurdism Sakadays used to have (also I think CSM is the bigger propagator for both hitman/exorcist stories taking over in animanga than sakadays, but I digress), magic adventures found in Ichi the witch, and high octane action with lots of soul found in Shinobi. (I also love Harukaze Mound, and Someone Hertz so far). Really just hope these aforementioned series fill the positive gap in WSJ, since both WSJ and other shounen magazines have been doubling down on the dark, brooding, and edgy series. (EVEN SAKADAYS MORPHED INTO THAT OVERTIME ๐ญ) but now I'm rambly so gomen.
Yeah the new villains in this current Shinobi arc weren't as fleshed out as the people they were competing against before, but in return we're getting more lore on Mimizuku, Yodaka, Aoi, and their organization. So tit for tat, I'll take it. I'd also say it's still not nearly as rushed as Otr imo. Kaedegami for sure was treading that generic exorcist line at first, but the art, integration of chinese mythology, and the character dynamics are making me fall for it <3 which I find fascinating because so far the characters on their own aren't the most compelling, but when they're put in a situation together I find myself invested in how they gel with one another. Also amusing to see them incorporate at least TWO mascot characters into the story ^^ I'd buy a plush of this for sure!
Alright, YOSH sha IKUZO!!! I hope your day is fantastic SYNTAN!!!
Well the movie does look good and i have read part 1 .. this arc is def good one .
Ic , i saw that part 2 has lot of well intresting devil .. i didnt liekd it at start i miss part 1
TO THE USER WHO ALSO FW SHOWHA SHOTAAAAN AND IS AWESOME!!!! YATTA I HOPE U MADE THE MOST OF TODAY!!!!
If that's the case, then that's reassuring! I actually managed to score a volume at an animanga con I went to recently! ๐ฅณ I've never paid attention to the numbers the series got, since I only got into it in the last couple years it was being published (plus I just really don't bother with the popularity numbers as a whole generally with manga). But I'm certain the mangaka duo will continue to go on to make more incredible works and continue finding success! ^o^
Broken Glass Slipper is the copy and paste answer? Well regardless, they're an excellent duo and I think do a phenomenal job serving as the surrogate example for experiencing the Japanese comedy industry through women. All the groups stories were touching, but I felt especially supportive and in full support of them winning the competition!
Brutus(er selentius?) is a fascinating choice too! I'm so glad they ended up not being the actual 'bad guys' but were lost when using comedy to deal with grief. Which is an intense subject, that I'm STILL in complete awe of how the story handled that subject matter so respectfully and maturally!
Absolutely, I think those are fair critiques of early Kagurabachi. But I was still enthralled by the raw art with a rough edge, it's definitely gotten more refined but still retains that rawness that I initially fell in love with (just with a bit more finesse and smoothness).
Like you I REALLY DO love the characters in the story and hope all the ones you mentioned are here to stay. But unlike you, aside from Hakuri, I doubt any of them are here to stay. ;c I'd have more hope for Iori staying if characters like Hiyuki, Char, and Shiba appeared more than once outside of the arc they were introduced in. I prefer having a solid main cast we follow and grow attached to than an endless rotating door of characters who either job, die, or survive but we just never get to see what they're up to. I REALLY hope that changes, because if it gave other characters the same development
We're getting for chihiro and Hakuri, then I think KGB would be my personal fav currently publishing manga in WSJ (and possibly be able to have an even larger following than it already does, but I digress^^)
Sakamoto Days does serve as a sister series to KGB imo, for the longest time I much preferred it over KGB, but now it's almost gone to the other side. I think both series would've benefitted greatly from having a stronger central cast (and if Sakamoto Days stayed more comedy action instead of shifting to 'absurdist but more serious action') but that's another can of worms.
One Piece either only kills good guys (ace) and resurrects them (sabo)Sabo, or good guys I don't care that much about (Pedro...
BUT YES BACK TO THE SUBJECT AT HAND I THINK KGB EXCELS IN THE ART, CHOREO, AND STYLE!! Not a fan of how many series are doing the whole hitman thing (even series like kaedegami and ping Pong peril are doing it, surprisingly the ACTUAL hitman ninja series Shinobi Undercover leans more into power level territory and I think it's sick AF)
But given the circumstances of the amount of chapters they were given to conclude the story, I think it did presented as realistic of a depiction of the natural character growth of OWTTTT. We see them struggle after their exponential growth they had in their early career, get a glimpse into them learning from their mistakes (and applying it seeing as they put it into practice in the last act we see of them performing), staying humble and grounded (whether that's working in ubereats, or cooling off in a theater), and ultimately coming out on top (ESPECIALLY with how far Azemichi has come). So I'd disagree in saying he peaked in highschool, since it seems like their comedy adventure has just begun! (but man what I would've done too see it play out!) Do you have a fav comedy duo from the series?
AS FOR CURRENT KGB, I think the artwork, and lore gets more dope with each chapter! THAT BEING SAID, I do feel like it the narrative can be a bit hard to follow at times, and I'm not a fan of this constantly revolving door of characters coming and going, with the only constant being chihiro. Makes it hard to feel connected with anyone outside of him. That being said, it's still rather impressive, like Chihiro, somehow still keeping it's composure with it's own narrative despite the chaotic, frantic, and fast paced nature of it all. hbu? Apologies for the wordy reply and I whope your day is wonderful SYNTAN~~~
