This franchise is something else. Let me start with that. It's not even like it didn't continue it's flow from season one either. Dr. Stone: Stone Wars focuses on the preparation phase for the big brawl and if I said I was prepared for how the season ended I would have a nose as big as Pinocchio.
This season certainly moved at a much faster pace then the first but all the goods were still present. There was no lack of intelligence to be seen in this season. Although to be fair if that went away it wouldn't be what it is. The situational comedy
...
is also still very present even if things are a little more sped up the season because time is working against the nation if science.
I enjoyed watching the makeshift nation of science come together for a lack of a better word this season and not just because they had too in the end. There are little shifts sprinkled all along the first 8 or so episodes. Some turn in stronger then others but that's normal in any social situation. It was nice to see the camaraderie.
Characters in the show are coming along nicely also. Sure the show doesn't focus primarily on development specific but I would be lying if I said there was zero. Chrome stands out to me the most and he kind of got a true moment in the spotlight this season. I think it was great for him. Personally for me I found him really annoying the first few episodes of season one he was in. From then on he just existed as a Senkuu "light" with a different type of snark to him. By the end of this season I got some respect for that boy
This season was just as much enjoyable as the first for everything it continues to bring to the screen. Season 2 did have a few things come about that I didn't see coming, not just the ending shocker that I referenced in the beginning.
I totally recommend this to anyone looking for a good time as long as you like the situational humor aspect and don't mind getting some science knowledge bombs thrown at you. There are a lot of good characters that fill their roles nicely to make this one be pretty solid

Bring a snack folks! It turned out mega long as I re-read before publishing and I didn't even "love" this one.
Green Green, while not anywhere near the top of the crop for the genre its in is not actually horrendous (1-4 worthy) in my opinion. The watcher just has to "enjoy" the things it's trying to accomplish (obvious I know),
Green Green does well in a few areas. First there is a little bit of personality diversity among the cast. If you have seen this type of show before you know what to expect from the various teenage types but at least it doesn't feel like
...
there is one boy and one girl color swapped three times with a different hair style. Don't expect anything crazy when it comes to development though, that is not something this one is there to do.
The comedy is another thing that it does well reaching its "goal". You have to like the typical adolescent male type of physical comedy that shows itself on screen instead of staying in their heads which comes with the territory. I don't particularly enjoy that style too much which helps my rating be what it is. There were some obvious references to some more common "fetish" which will "help" your enjoyment if you like any of those that exist here. Let's be honest everyone has at least one, even if it's not one in this show right?
There is certainly some Ecchi in here and while there isn't any direct sex involved there are quite a few scenes where the ladies are just casually talking bare chested. It's not overbearing and doesn't "ruin" the scene, at least for me. They exist for fanservice. Something to keep in mind; I have seen things like High School DxD in my anime adventures from the start of 2007 through the start of 2026 which allows me the ability to draw my own line as to what is "too much" for me personally. I did want to mention that here as a warning for anyone reading that might not want to see any of that.
The show itself doesn't have an actual "plot" advancing other then the summer ending. There was small movement at the end regarding relationships but that's all. I did take a small notice to the thing that was referenced by the teacher in the very beginning of the show but by the end I completely forgot and didn't see the "twist" coming.
If Green Green set out to display a look into adolescence, with some of the naivety, crude and sometimes sexual humor, while adding a touch of how teenage boys get a bit over enthusiastic with a sprinkle of fanservice it accomplishes what it set out too do. That is why I give it a 5 (Average). in 2007 when I was first made aware of it I watched the first episode and said to myself I probably wouldn't enjoy this very much and I'll eventually go back to it when I want something quick to "fill" time with. Didn't think it would take me twenty years to choose this as a "filler" anime but I wasn't too far off what 18 year old me thought was going to be the result. The difference now, after seeing so much, I can sit and realize that every anime has a specific audience they are trying to appeal too with a goal and even if I am not part of that audience I can be more objective to that in watching and reviewing.

This came up in a conversation at work. I was told I carry myself similar to one of the cast and there was a high chance I would enjoy the show. I have to say they were right about me enjoying the show.
Although it's just the first season I enjoy the cast of characters as a whole. Each one has their place and the piece they fill in the entire puzzle of pushing civilization along. Even if not everyone wants to walk the same path to get there. I mainly like the cast initially because while there are quite a few of them by then
...
end of season 1, they also have unique enough personality starters to stand out just enough. It doesn't feel like there are any "clone" characters. Senkuu and Chrome are a good example of this. They are both intelligent but it's obvious to the watcher that they have enough uniqueness to not be 80% recycled in effort to fill another body in the story. I appreciate that aspect a lot.
I also enjoy learning in general and as one might assume, I don't typically come to anime to "learn", its more of a relaxation thing but when I find one like Dr. Stone I often find myself fact checking a little bit to see how grounded the knowledge is. If the show takes a lot of liberties because it is make believe I would be okay with it because that is the point of most anime, to let loose and not care so much. Dr Stone seems to have based a lot of the science in real world truth which I really appreciate about the show. Sure it might be simplified or sped up a bit for the sake of the pacing or whatnot but the science is certainly grounded in reality.
I also really enjoyed the comedy inserts in the show a lot. They found a lot of good ways to enhance the show with it in my opinion, especially after the village is established. I am looking forward to continuing the series and I recommend it to anyone who wants a different style slice of life or likes situational comedy and a touch of banter

I will start by saying that I liked this season better then the previous two. The core things to expect from this series are still there.
I do continue to like the "history" breakdowns of each key human and god that is currently facing off. I did have some basic knowledge of a couple featured fighters in this season but I enjoy the fact that in my own desire to know more about a figure that is featured, they are actually pretty grounded on the history or mythology around the figure and not completely "loose" because it's an anime.
For me the most enjoyable fight was the
...
first one but all 3 in this season had their own strong points and I think the season itself comes together really well. There is even a pretty good cliff hanger at the end. Wonder if we will have to wait another two years for the next, and maybe final part.
I think the show continues to do a great job of executing the fights all the way up to the final "last ditch effort" attack. I understand it has it's uses and I can't exactly say why it bothers me so much but the final fight is a perfect example. Without spoiling it I will say this ----> If that person was going to win in the end why can't it just happen after that unstoppable barrage? Instead there is a quick couple lines and then the other combatant reflects something and all the sudden they are both on the verge of death with one final attack from both to decide it all, meanwhile based on the flow to me it felt like the match already ended after the barrage. There's no real need to have to winner walk off a complete bloody mess barely able to walk every time. It's not like the classic anime fights over the years don't happen over four to seven episodes or more with dialogue in the middle of the action either. They all have endings that are way more satisfying, even if not everyone liked the end.
I think this whole series is a good watch if you are interested in mythology and history, especially if one of your more appealing humans or gods is actually featured in the series. If you are in the mood for a good fight with some bloodshed this one will also fit the bill

The show continues to follow along at the same cadence people would expect. A little bit of slice of life, mixed with a little bit of comedy, sprinkle in some action and a pinch of an intense moment or two and that's basically the makings of a season.
This season dove into the back story of Loid a little bit before giving way to the kids again. I kind of hope next season goes into Yor and maybe by extension Yuri a little bit more. I continue to think the show does a really good job of capturing the essence of childhood considering the circumstances when
...
Anya, Damian and Becky are on screen. I really enjoy the dynamic and I think a lot of that is the way the innocence and also immaturity is inserted from time to time. Not to say its all "kiddy" when they are on screen and this season sure shows that.
This season also did very well with two things. First, continuing to show Loids struggle with his "inner human" and over analyzation. We really get to see him struggle in another way for the first time also. (Not going to spoil) Second you can see Yor really trying to extend herself more and become better although she still has a hard time with her awkwardness.
The show itself seems to be moving at a very slow pace which may be off putting to some. I don't mind it so much personally as long as the comedy continues to not be recycled too much and character development happens for all three.

Spy x Family season 2 carries the "torch" in the same style as the previous installments. This one happened to focus more around Yor, which also made me realize that the show has done things in phases for lack of a better word. One season focused more on Loid, another one was pretty solidly centered around Anya and happenings around the school and season 2 basically "completes the trilogy" in terms of their specific environment being dominant for a little bit
This one had a little more of a serious tone but I understand that considering out of the three Yor's environment is most hectic?
...
It actually feels weird writing that considering what Loid does isn't exactly a walk in the park either. Either way I have been wanting to see a little more related to Yor and I may have even mentioned that in my last review so I got exactly what I wanted.
I don't think the season being a little more fast paced and serious took away from it. You still had things like Anya passively, or maybe more accurately, "innocently" helping out because of her ability. You still have Loid being himself when it comes to Anya and you still have Yor being what who she is best.
I am not sure if I am in the minority with this one or not but I do hope at the very end of it all those three respective "secrets" they have hidden from one another get revealed to amongst them. Maybe it'll be 5 more seasons until the end of operation stryx and Anya being the kid she is just blurts out all of them in a frantic plea to keep the family together so she doesn't have to go back. Maybe ten years pass and Anya is almost done with school and that's when everything comes out to "close" the book and they all split... All I know is I would love for it to happen in one way or another. Season 3 here I come...

Spy x Family (Season 1) Part 2 is actually a really nice continuation of the first part. The daily life of the Forgers carries on like any typical family on the outside looking in. However, there is that same individual struggle within that each family member is grappling with. I dare say Bond has it easiest, which is to be expected I suppose.
Pretty much everything I referenced in my review of the first half shows itself here. First and probably least important after scooping up bond there wasn't any of the search and rescue stuff that I said would most likely get boring for me.
...
I liked that a section of the season focused on the kids at Eden Academy. Anya is definitely still trying to do her part in "Plan B" since "Plan A" may actually be more of a struggle, however this season spent time at school having the kids interact and I think it was executed very well. It is clearly apparent that they are a bunch of five and 6 year old kids with the way they handle things. From the comments they speak to the fluster they experience. It was very well done in my opinion and added a lot to this half.
Switching gears to focus on Loid and Yor after that was done really well also. It is obvious they both get something out of it and life will go on regardless but having Fiona inserted the way she was helped those two along in its own way for development purposes. It's nice seeing Yor attempting to work on and through some of her "struggles" to be better for her "family" I do hope she eventually can get to a point where she can speak up just a little bit without "help" but there has been good steps forward for her in the second half of the season.
I do have to say that my overall rating of both parts would still be a 7 if they were combined into a 25 episode season but the flow of the 25 seems to fit well together making it much more enjoyable. I sort of wish I watched part 1 and 2 before reviewing either of them but that's neither here or there
I still think this show is doing a lot of good things and still looking forward to my continuation of the series

Spy x Family certainly has a lot going on from all directions with the way the world is centered and loosely based on actual history combined with the way this make shift family came about and the means to each end it serves.
That in itself is not a bad thing but I hope it holds up through the seasons. Speaking only to what is in this season I think it does well to lay the ground work of whatever is to come. There are parts of each character of the family that shine for me and a big part of that has to do with
...
the way they themselves are trying to adapt and mold as their makeshift family. A lot of comedy in season one was very enjoyable because of this dynamic which is a big draw for the popularity of the show I am sure. I do hope they build on other things in coming seasons though. An example, the lost and found play of Yor and Anya already started getting a bit old for me.
I like that Loid is centered around his mission more so then not and how having a "family" is somewhat, and unexpectedly causing him to be more compassionate which he isn't used to given his line of work. The same can be said for Yor but in a different perspective. There were times that I felt a little bit for Anya... She's only a kid and well... with her special trait its hard for her to absorb and process some of the things she is subject too.
I really like each character so far and I have seen enough anime now to realize shows need time to progress in many ways, character development is certainly one of those things. I have high hopes for the following seasons to continue to be enjoyable. I really hope one of the characters doesn't get left in the dust regarding that. It has a lot of potential to be amazing in my opinion...
Spy x Family is something I put off for a few years and talking about it with a friend got me to push it up on my watch list. I would say if you are looking for a slice of life with a twist this is certainly a stop you should make. It's got some nice laughs built in as well. I am just grateful that there are a few seasons already out as of the date of writing.

I wasn't expecting to like the first season as much as I did and the second season of Kusuriya no Hitorigoto is certainly a good watch as well, however it differs in tone just a little bit. I personally don't think it takes away from the show but for some it might not be as enjoyable all things considered.
The show has all the same characters, and all the same elements. Season 2 certainly focuses more on the background politics of the world resulting in the tone of the show turning slightly more serious. I can't go too much into detail without spoiling so I won't
...
say more but we get to learn a lot more about a different concubine in this season instead of more expansion on Gyokuyou or Lihua.
Given the plot that unfolds to us during this season I understand why the show itself didn't have as much of the lighthearted humor of the first, which I missed a little bit. If it did though, I don't think it would have had the same impact. Much like the first season a lot of it is a big build up to the finale. Aside from the Jinshi stuff, which was hinted at many times, I didn't see the rest coming. Some people got what they had coming to them. Some people got what they wanted out of the situations and some people were forced to be innocent bystanders in the chaos as it unfolded, you'll have to watch to find out what I mean by that.
Kusuriya no Hitorigoto 2 is a nice continuation of the series and I think the series praises are well deserved. If you are in the mood to meet a socially awkward mystery solving nerd, with bit of humor mixed in I think you will enjoy this show.

As I read the synopsis of Kusuriya no Hitorigoto I became gradually more intrigued for many reasons. Genres, setting and curiosity of how the Apothecary part fit in.
The story itself is really nice. The story clearly centers around Maomao though because, well, she is the subject of the "diaries". At first I didn't think it would be much but there is layering that gets peeled away as the story unfolds and Maomao solves more mysteries. The mysteries build on one another, ultimately unveiling a certain timeline. Through the first season we get to meet a handful of characters and each one that sees more then
...
ten minutes of screen time gets a touch of development which think they did a good job with.
I liked the way Maomao is portrayed, mostly unfazed and uninterested in things, except when it comes to herbs and her work as an Apothecary. When she's in detective mode she also "turns on" as well. I like the dynamics she has with some of the primary supporting cast. The show does a really good job of squeezing in a bit of humor where I wasn't expecting throughout the entire season. It can get pretty grim and gruesome at times and the humor is actually one of the things I like most about the show. It really keeps things neutral in a good way.
I haven't seen many mystery Anime and I think that is the biggest contributing factor as to why I found Kusuriya no Hitorigoto to be really interesting. I think it has a lot of good things going for it regardless and I am going to dive right into season 2 to see what happens next.
