I'm a bit conflicted about this one.
This series was an enjoyable ride but when you think a bit more about the story and its setting, cracks start to appear.
The whole school dynamic is and was completely unnecessary. its only there to have an excuse for the silly kind of drama down the line.
2 schools right next to each other which are essentially boys- and girls-only? Really? Just let them go to the same, mixed school. No character would end up significantly different.
At this point I wouldn't be surprised to have some silly, long lost childhood-friend/past love-interest appear out of nowhere...
Also why turn Kaoruko into a
...
"light version" of a stalker?! For months she's visiting the shop over and over again just to get a chance to talk to him?! I'm not expecting much from an anime but this felt almost creepy.
Just let her be the cake-loving girl that happened to get harassed one day, the hero comes to her rescue, she will obviously be grateful, they find out they go to the same school and start talking...
There we have a simple and believable story how they could have met without any silly twists.
Regardless of those flaws - and if you manage to shut down the mind for a while - you will be greeted with a heart-warming and fluffy romance that is just way too sweet. A very nice diversion.
The characters might be way too polite for their age while others are too pure and innocent for their own good but its fine.
So far the side characters are interesting and likeable enough that you even start routing for secondary pairings.
Production quality is good, music decent
