Alright i had the idea of writing a review of this for a while now, so lets try to settle it the best we can.
Fumetsu no Anata e or To your eternity is a wonderful story, adapted through a convincing and well done anime. I'll do what i can to convince anybody who wants a journey among the beauty and the brutalities of life that this show is one of the best to experience such arguments.
Plot: 9
Absolutely immense, dealing with the deepest themes you can find. The meanings of life, time and feelings all converge into one huge story that could last forever,
...
without dragging it at all, making the watcher curious and excited most of the episodes for whats about to come. The messages are so many its absolutely impossible to summarize them all, but essentially it is a very profound journey without resulting too heavy on the rythm. Dont expect something so philosophical that it kills the atmosphere of the actual setting: there's lots of action, but this isnt the only focus of the story, as understandable as i made it up to now. As introspective as the story can be, in fact whats happening physically around us is absolutely crucial in every fragment of the season and sometimes there's little but well weighted time to think about what just happened. I haven't felt too challenged by stupid dialogues or weird anime shenanigans in general, what's happening happens for a reason, and usually it is very realistic and well thought of. The show has a great idea and it developes brilliantly, having a few issues only maybe towards half the season. I think most people will feel touched by the messages because as i intended many times already, this story is very deep, sad, drammatic, violent and overall emotional. I suggest to begin without knowing absolutely nothing about it, it worked perfectly for me. This is the best quality of the show and i cannot highlight enough how much it could affect anybody.
Presentation: 8
Animationwise we are on a pretty average level, compared to daily anime it doesnt really defend itself properly against other giants, but it isnt at all ugly or badly executed. It has some great moments, i'd give it a 7 overall
The still images are great, the drawings of the manga were not easy to adapt, and the studio did a good job. 8
Special effects and CGI are not used much, its very hard to give a score. The sound design and the music are great, 8 as well.
Characters: 8
Most of them are very human and realistic, you can grow attached to them, and some of them are absolutely stellar. The protagonist easily tops the list for me, being a banger fromt the very beginning. It makes sense, it works, and it evolves into something extremely interesting. I think he's worth the watch by himself, but the overall cast is pretty strong. They are all recognizable and have a role, most of the times unique, they are chosen for, which usually makes total sense.
So yeah i highly suggest anybody who's willing to get emotional the watch of this season. It has been pretty damn good from start to finish with very few falls, if we really can call them as such.
