An aggressively bad show within a trope that is already bad. Review is through episode 4 because MAL refuses to allow reviews until the late airing date of ep 3 despite it coming out a week ago.

From the start, I'll say that this show would normally be a 6/10, but it gets a 5/10 because the ignorant MC trope is so bad and annoying it makes shows frustrating to watch on TOP of their other characteristics.

Everything about this show is stupid, poorly thought out, and generally illogical.

The MC: Despite obviously being super powerful and everyone constantly talking both to him and around him about ... how amazing he is, plus the easily observable differences between his power and everyone around him, he persists in the unfounded belief that he's week. While the show tries and explain it by his master's attitude, that does nothing to explain why he persists in the belief once he reaches the outside world and constant, unending streams of evidence bombard him with the fact that he's strong.

The Antagonist Hero Party: Yet another anime where a party somehow becomes the leading party in the world without ever understanding how their own abilities work and then gets rid of the OPMC who is helping them as a result of their illogical ignorance. In this case, however, the "hero" is even more aggressively ignorant than normal, actively refusing to train or even consider the idea that the MC might be helpful when it's suggested by others.

The MC Party: Despite supposedly being an S class party, they struggle against basic trash monsters and bandits on a regular basis and seem utterly incapable of defending themselves or even acting on their own without the MC. It's difficult to understand how they survived to reach the start of the show. Out of battle, they are constantly surprised by incoming enemies, while in battle they just stand around uselessly except when told what to do by the MC. Despite being supposed veteran adventurers, they constantly take stupid risks in the wilderness and then seem surprised by dangers that should be commonplace. Their leader is the most incompetent member of their group at leadership, a fact that they all know and openly joke about, despite it making their lives harder and putting them all in danger.

The World: Society as a whole seems to be inexplicably bad at basic spells and abilities. It would be one thing if the MC could do them because he was special, but it turns out everyone can do a lot more than they think, they just...never try for some reason? What the hell.

The Plot/Genre: The plot is standard OPMC kicked out plot, of the incredibly annoying/frustrating and poorly written "oblivious OPMC" variety. As normal with this genre, the MC is oblivious to the point where there is no rational explanation. Additionally this show, like every other show in this genre, refuses to allow the MC's party to just sit him down for 2 goddam minutes and flat out explain to him that he's super powerful. Instead, they persist in offhand mentions and interrupted conversations and statements which lend themselves to misinterpretation (over and over they say things like "no one here thinks you're weak" instead of "you are super strong") which allow the show to (poorly) pretend he's just misunderstanding. They all obviously recognize his misunderstanding, and in multiple instances in the show they make a conscious decision NOT to try and explain to him. At least once in each episode you see them do some variation of "it's a shame he doesn't understand, should we try to...no, nothing can be done, so sad, but it's better this way." Why is it better this way? Who knows? But everyone agrees that it certainly is, despite it obviously being not at all better that way. Or they say "Now isn't the time"...why isn't it the time? It takes far MORE time to constantly have these misunderstandings than to just take 2 minutes and explain things. In fact, this show is extremely explicit in making sure we understand that the MC's party knows that the MC misunderstands, and that they want to resolve the misunderstanding...but that they just choose not to anyway. In this genre, as here, there is never any actual attempt to explain WHY no one just sits the MC down and explains things, except "so that the idiotic plot can continue." And the reason is that there IS no plausible reason. There just isn't. As with almost every other show in this genre, this is simply bad writing by the author in an attempt to fit into this genre which is for some reason popular despite being utterly stupid and generally impossible to write well. Review note: This show is so FOCUSED on the misunderstanding aspect while simultaneously doing it badly that, if at some point the author explains that this show is a satirical criticism of the genre, I will happily increase my score by several points.

Animation: It's not a slideshow, but it's really bad. Whatever one step above slideshow is. Most action scenes include some movement besides camera panning, but characters themselves mostly stand still. Kind of feels like average quality hand drawn animation from decades ago.

Character design/graphics quality: Average.

Voices: Not special, but the voices are fine. No problems here.

Wholesome. Very well animated. Good voice acting. Excellent character and world building. Even the story was actually pretty good, even though it's entirely focused on pharmaceuticals. It's not dependent on plot holes or implausibly stupid or evil people. It's not full of action, or a enthralling, twisting plot, but this is an anime that knows exactly what it wants to be and executes very well. I really didn't expect much from this, from the description i thought it was going to be a cheap isekai cash grab, but I'm very pleasantly surprised to give this an 8/10, it ... earns it. I recommend this anime.

"When he encounters and helps some soldiers tend to their wounded comrade, the group convinces him to accompany them to visit the nearby town's ducal family. Ryouma agrees and soon embarks on a journey to explore the vast world beyond his home."

This is a flat out lie. Ryouma pretty much goes to the first town he finds and then does very little interesting after the first half of the first season. If you read the description and assumed this was an adventure show, IT IS NOT. This is NOT an adventure show. It's, at most, a slice of life show which ... pretty much takes place in just one town and focuses on fairly boring business logistics.

This anime takes "obliviousness" to a new level, and essentially glorifies the "good" main characters knowingly abusing a mentally handicapped child for their own gain. The show has no real redeeming qualities which would make up for the ridiculous premise and horrible main characters. The art is fine, the voices are fine, the story suffers from the idiotic premise such that it's painful to watch and mostly will just make you angry because it's stupid to the point that it breaks even anime levels of immersion. Don't watch this. It's not good and it frankly doesn't deserve your views. This ... is what happens when creators see a popular trope, but the trope has been so overdone that in order to be even moderately different from what has come before they have to completely abandon any connection to a believable or enjoyable plot.

Is this anime bad? Well, it's certainly not good. However, it's not as bad as fans of the source material would have you believe. From what I can tell, those fans are judging this anime not simply based on its quality, but rather the quality of this anime vs the quality they believe the source material deserves.

Is the animation bad? Yes, though with a caveat. The show is mostly still images, with some camera panning, though the images themselves are fine and the studio actually does a pretty OK job of putting the episodes together in a way where you ... often don't notice that you're watching a slideshow unless you're thinking about it already. The animation leaves a feeling of OK quality, but extremely low budget.

As of Ep 3, the story is unimpressive. There are a lot of fans of the source material, so one might assume it gets better, but so far it's a pretty generic OP MC reincarnated storyline with nothing significant to differentiate it.

Voices are pretty meh. The main character is pretty emotionless, but that matches his character so it's kind of hard to evaluate that, honestly.

Overall, I think this is a situation where more than one thing can be true at the same time. Yes, if the manwha readers are right about the source material, this anime is not the quality the story "deserves," and they have a right to be angry about that. However, no, that doesn't mean it's an objectively bad anime. A show should be judged fairly against other anime, not against what it might "deserve." So far, it's OK enough to get through each episode without wanting to stop watching. To me it's solidly in the "meh" time-filler tier of about 5-6/10 right now, no worse than plenty of other low budget tropey animes that come out every season.

This show is aggressively bad. Despite the show's name and premise, the MC, Light, refuses to use his OP skill for no reason leading to constant frustration, and it's only made worse when the show itself has characters treat Light as competent and intelligent while everything we see shows him to be an incompetent moron. Unlike most anime, where viewers often resent time spent on side-arcs not relevant to the main story and main character, Light is so incredibly annoying that when the entire second half of the show completely abandons him to focus on side characters, it is actually a noticeable improvement. ... Sadly the side story ends, which means if there is a second season we'll have to go back to hating Light as he continues to act like a moron for no reason.

Avoid this show.

I'm not going to spend a huge amount of time on this show which doesn't put in any effort of its own to be...anything.

Imagine a game where you just go around picking up power ups and everyone with boobs you talk to asks to be your slave. That's it. You don't have to do anything to get them, they're just there. You just walk around and push F to interact with things and get stronger. No fights. No enemies. No choices. No struggle. No story. Just random powerups for no reason and which don't really mean ... anything since you don't do anything with them anyway.

That's this anime. It's not just tropey, it's incredibly shallow, an incredibly low-effort attempt to cash in on an overdone genre.

This anime is another in a long line of "Strongest [Insert Category] Kicked out of Party" animes. Which is fine, I don't generally mind the incredible amounts of repetitiveness within today's RPG anime genre.

What I DO mind is how incredibly bad this anime's story and characters are. We start with the biggest flaw: despite the series title, the MC, Laust, is not the strongest. He is the weakest healer. He was kicked out of the party for being a bad healer when, in fact...he is a bad healer. He's a strong melee fighter, but he was fulfilling the role of ... a healer and doing a terrible job of it. As a result, the show fails right at the beginning to establish the baseline for this type of show: that the party is in the wrong and the MC is the innocent victim. Instead, the show TRIES to do that, but viewers who have played and understand group RPGs instead dislike the MC for applying for a group slot he isn't qualified for and failing his group.

Thus we get to failing two: since the show fails to establish the baseline "party bad/MC good" plot points, the show forces that viewpoint on the viewers by having the original party be ludicrously, cartoonishly evil and stupid, failing to understand the most basic elements of the RPG world they're supposed to have grown up in. To avoid spoilers I won't say how, but trust that you'll end up hating the storyline about as much as you hate the original party.

And finally (at least so far), there is the MC himself, who is a terrible combination of naive, bland, and irresponsible. The show has him continue the ludicrous farce that he's a healer despite it being constantly and obviously undercut by every element of the show. On top of that, no matter how badly he's mistreated, he forgives everyone, something the show treats as a good thing even when it leads to ludicrous injustice and bad outcomes for not just the MC but also everyone else. Again, won't spoil, but I feel confident that you'll know when you get to these moments, they're incredibly obvious and unambiguously bad decisions. Finally, he's just...bland. He barely talks, rarely shows emotion, barely even moves. He slowly walks around and attacks with a dagger, every once in a while saying not much of anything in short sentences. The supporting characters are far more interesting both in terms of the characters themselves as well as the action.

I'm forced to believe this is a group RPG anime written by a mangaka who has never actually played an RPG, which...is bad. At most, he's read about them in manga and is trying to bandwagon onto the genre's success.

I cannot recommend this anime on any level except as a time filler. It's the only reason I haven't dropped this yet.

This is a show that seems written for, and by, children.

The characters are one-dimensional, with each simply having one characteristic they're supposed to excel at, and that's their entire character, other than their blind loyalty for Ars.

Ars, the main character, continues his lackluster performance from season 1 where, despite the entire show being premised on him A) being a reincarnated adult and 2) having a unique ability to "appraise" people, neither of these characteristics is ever used properly and in fact in almost every episode they aren't used at all. Ars is less a MC and more an annoyingly naive walking camera so we ... can watch the other characters in the show do his job for him. He almost never makes any real decisions other than to "trust" his companions, never leads his forces, never does much of anything except give incredibly generic ra-ra speeches. He could be replaced with a moderately limited sound board of "I believe in you" phrases and the show would not be much different. In fact, he could be removed from the show entirely without much difference. Because he never provides any meaningful leadership or uses his reincarnated memories at all and virtually never uses his ability, when he does use his ability it's almost always for no reason and doesn't affect the story, and because the only times he's actually affected the story is to find a handful of super-characters which other forces have equivalents to WITHOUT his ability to find people, it's arguable that Ars adds literally nothing to the show at all.

If you're here for military strategy instead of isekai, prepare to be disappointed as well. The animation of battles is some of the worst I've ever seen, with a combination of slide-show graphics and entire armies represented as badly drawn groups of 3-5 people. The "strategy" from the "s-class" strategists invariably ends up to be blindingly obvious to anyone who isn't an idiot, almost always coming down to a variation of "more people defeats less people" or "what if we...attack harder? ZOMG." or "let's not just attack with 100% of our army and leave the entire rest of the country undefended." Who could possibly have thought of that? Every once in a while they'll pull something which is supposed to be strategic, but instead really feels more like unexplained omniscience and luck, AKA plot armor.

The voice acting is fine and the character design is fine, at least as long as the scenes don't have many characters and/or they aren't moving. That's it. That's the only redeeming quality of this show.

This is a terrible show and I don't understand how it's getting its rating.

The art is OK. The characters are OK. Saya stands out as having a combination of toneless speech that somehow nevertheless conveys emotion in a way that is kind of hilarious. Unfortunately, the MC has the least entertaining character in the show, with abilities that really come down to 1) hit people with his sword and 2) hit people with his sword + some sparkles. Almost every supporting character has much cooler abilities. The worldbuilding and story are completely half-assed and inconsistent.

And yet, I ended up watching all of both seasons without forcing myself, which means I pretty much have ... to give it a 6 instead of the 5 that my brain thinks it deserves, even though the primary plot device of the entire show, the powers/weapons the MCs use, don't seem to have any internal consistency or ever get explained properly. So if you're hoping to eventually figure out why sometimes Luxes seem to give power and sometimes they seem to take power...no answer. If you're wondering why Ogre Luxes even exist or how they apparently have their own consciousnesses? No answer. Why do Ogre Luxes require compatibility with users but robots can use them? No answer. Why do some characters have awesome powers while some just hit things with their Luxes as if they're regular weapons? What do the MC's stances even do? As far as I can tell: nothing, everything looks the same, he just wins after saying their name for some reason. (though I find it hilarious that we find out in a flashback that he just says their names out loud because Saya told him it sounds cool) Why have one faction created AI and robots but only uses them for what effectively UFC tournaments? Why is it considered fair for giant super-powered 20 foot tall super robots with impenetrable shields and laser cannons to fight 13 year old children? No answer. In what possible universe could taking away the MC's powers and inflicting multiple days of crippling injuring on him if he tries to defend himself be considered "protecting" him? No answer. Why does their entire society appear to revolve around this one fighting tournament? No answer. Why do all of the female voice actors huff helium before saying their lines? No answer. Why is the male robot a mini-gundam while the female robot is just a girl with cosplay gloves and boots? Because boobs, obviously.

But if you turn off your brain, you can find you've watched the entire thing pretty easily.
